I love your locs! Glad you didn’t comb them out. I have a really bad flaky scalp and what’s helped me is adding some drops of tea tree oil and peppermint oil into some rose water. I massage that into my scalp and it helps keep everything clear. This winter dryness be wild!

I’m glad I didn’t either but I was tempted. Winter definitely requires more maintenance! I need to add tea tree oil into my regimen.

Two products to get your scalp right: USDA Organic Topical (Skin) Probiotic Spray by MaryRuth's (Amazon) for in between retwists and & Candida Freedom Probiotic Lavender Bar Soap (Amazon) for wash day. I use the lemon scented bar but they are out of stock right now. The spray’s a lil pricey but worth it for flake free locs. Just spray on scalp a couple times a week.

The candida bar sounds like what I need. That could very well be the culprit of my issue. Thanks for the recommendation!

@@TheTianaAlexandra the soap is awesome. A new staple for me. Don’t get the spray by Mary Ruth from Amazon though. They keep sending me the wrong product.

Obsessed with your locs! I'm about to start my loc journey and love the size of your locs and how you care for them. Thank you for showing the products you use and the blow drying process after a retwist. I didn't know this step was necessary when retwisting. I plan to maintain my locs myself and have been researching products and techniques that will be most beneficial for my journey. You would be surprised but I have watched countless videos on loc maitenance here on KZbin and you are the only one that has inluded this step. Your videos are educational and concise which I love. Thank you for providing informative, helpful and thorough content especially for us who are newbies to the loc community! God bless you, your family and your beautiful set of locs!

Thank you for this comment. You’re very welcome! You could also get a hooded dryer which would allow you to rest your arms and possibly dry them for a longer period of time. That way your hands won’t get tired of holding the blow dryer. I’m looking into one myself for the future. This step is essential to me and my locs because in certain areas they take so long to dry and I never want to sleep on wet hair.

I had to stop using oil oddly. My scalp had gotten so bad, that it looked like psoriasis. I only use rose water now and I have an organic moisturizing spray if my hair feels dry.

It’s so amazing how different regimens and products can cater to one of our hair needs and not the other on this journey.

@@TheTianaAlexandra Right! I was shocked!, I was so use to using oil all my life. This is the first time in 20 years where my scalp is actually normal 😳
