Nice and informative video Pan. I was waiting for this one to come out. I coated my now year-old SUV, daily driver back in September with Fusso Coat and I've been using sonax BSD as a drying aid ever since. This combo gives tons of protection against contaminants and extreme water repellency. I used a PH neutral iron remover a few weeks ago and the contamination was minimal. Today I used Sonax tar remover very gently to remove the tiny spots around the lower end of the car using a MF pad and 90% came off without having to use any pressure. I'm very confident Fusso plus BSD provide outstanding level of protection. Most of the times I just use a power wash to clean the car, no soap required. I drive 10K/miles per year, mostly on rural/A roads. Keep up the good work! 👍🇬🇧

@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Henry! To answer your question, the ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat of painted surfaces. So on factory painted bumpers, they have a clear coat so the ceramic can bond to it. If you talking about black plastic bumpers, then they have coatings for those too. CarPro has the DLUX wheel and trim coating. Gyeon has their Trim coating. How did you discover my channel?

Excellent 10 month ceramic review and I really appreciate the steps at the end for taking off a ceramic coating. I have one of these on my Corvette and have Rejex on my 15 BMW 750Li M as I wanted to do a comparison on slickness, shine and beeding. Definitely both look insanely great, however, a ton less work on buffing using ceramic over Rejex. So I will probably be doing the C Quartz on BMW in 8 months or so and keeping with the Gyeon ceramic on the Corvette. Then compare those two. Can you test bottom part of your doors? here in Toronto the sides of my car is no longer beading due to the winter. I have cleaned it properly with iron remover and so on but it looks like I need to reapply. Also how many kms did you put on your car since June? Was it parked outside or in the garage? That will all have a factor on the life of the coating.

Did you try using a more powerful ceramic coating specific soap like CarPro Reset? To all my viewers who have your issues, I noticed that they typically use a lesser quality soap or something that doesn't remove the light film that build up over time in the lower panels. Gtechniq G Wash is also another good soap for that.

As you mentioned the other week the importance of a maintenance wash every 2 -3 months, in that video you used Car Pro Reload which is made for ceramic coatings, to help protect and give a extra layer of protection. How often should a car with ceramic coating be treated with an Iron removal, especially if the car is outside 24/7? Cheers Mate, Oz

UK 3.0 and Gliss is what I have on my Audi. Absolutely awesome! If after 2 years you need to go through all this to remove the ceramic coating, wouldn't that mean the coating is still good and doesn't need to be removed? They also say that Gliss can be applied, after a good cleaning and prep, up to several months after ceramic coating. So couldn't we just keep applying Gliss every 4-6 months and never need to remove the coating?

It’s too late for a 2nd coat now. You have to apply the 2nd coat one hour after the first one. Don’t worry too much about it as the 2nd coat is mainly to ensure proper coverage over the paintwork. If you took your time to apply a nice and even coat you should be fine.

@PanTheOrganizer4 жыл бұрын
If you have contamination in the paint (gritty surface, sand paper like texture) then yes you should clay before polishing, as you don't want to be picking up all the contamination with the polishing pads and making more damage. It would defeat the purpose.

@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes if you properly removed the coating, the water should be sheeting veeeeery slowly and kind of pool up on the hood and zero beads. The paint should also feel very "grabby" at that point as there is no more slickness from a paint protection product.

@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks Pan. I guess a follow-up question is should one be bothered with fully removing the old compound before reapplying a fresh coat. @@NicholasChan23 a polishing stage is designed to remove minor scratches and haze leftover by the compounding stage. So it should be more than enough. And as for being afraid of removing clear coat or too much of it, you should invest in a paint depth gauge. You can get a decent one online for 50 bucks. Measure how much paint is left on all body panels before you compound + polish and after to get a good idea on how much old coating + clear coat you're removing. Be sure to measure how much paint you have on the hood before you apply your new coating so that you have a good reference point on how much depth you should come down to when it's time machine polish off your new coating in the future :)

Very timely video Sir Pan! Last week I applied 2 coats of Quartz3.0 with some good success. However I did find 2 high spot areas by the rocker panels. My car is pearl white so it was very difficult to see high spots at first glance. It took 1 week to show up. I removed the high spots with Meguires compound and reapplied the ceramic coating to the panel. This AM I applied Gliss and really didn’t notice much a difference in appearance. I waited 1 minute for the flash as directed, then wiped With CarPro Orange suede cloth.Do you think this was too long? I’m a bit frustrated. The finish is silky smooth now but no noticeable pop in appearance. Your expert input appreciated. Love your videos!
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure I understand your question. Normally, you are supposed to apply Gliss 4 hours or more after your final coat of CQuartz. The flash time is very quick with Gliss. In my case, it's almost apply then wipe 10 seconds later. Did you use any form of lamp or swirl finder pen light to inspect for high spots after application?
@rivakhoffman48255 жыл бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer My bad. I thought I had to let the CQuartz cure for 1 week in the garage before applying Gliss. Apparently, I waited too long. Overall, the car looks great and everyone comments how wet it looks thanks to the initial 2 coats of Cquartz 3.0, However, I'm not convinced that Cquartz Gliss made a difference in appearance. @PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
You're actually right. Over time, there is a buildup of grime and road film on paintwork that pH neutral shampoos can't remove. So degreasers or even iron removers help lift that "film" and reveal the true hydrophobic properties of the coating.

Question, is cquartz UK 3.0 a good ceramic coating for my black Ford F-250? It do keep it in the garage, but I have to park it in the Texas heat occasionally. Thanks again & keep up the great work!

Pan TheOrganizer Thank you for the quick response. I’ll watch your truck video;however, I also saw your review of CarPro products and you you mentioned that the original cquartz was a good choice for high heat areas. I just wanted to make sure that if I used the UK 3.0 in-lieu of the original that it would be ok and not cause a problems. The Texas sun on a black truck gets extremely hot >110-deg. Thanks again.

Gday Pan. I really need your HELP!!!! I recently applied a ceramic coating to my car using a highly regarded Aussie made product that top detailers use. Anyway, I let it cure for 6-7 days like they advise. Anyway, we have been having hot, dry weather here including frequent dust storms. I was cleaning up my garage when during a dust storm we had a shower of rain!!!! My car was a mess and the next day after I washed it there was unbelievably water spot etchings on the new coating I had applied. I was so angry and broken-hearted after all the effort of polishing and prep. Anyway what advice or steps would you take to remove these terrible spots/etchings from my brand new coated car???? Would I use Car Pro Essence Plus to re-polish it, water spot remover, Iron x????? I am just shattered at what has happened. Maybe I should have used UK 3.0 instead. Any HELP would be greatly appreciated PAN!!!!!

Great video Pan! I have a quick question, can we top up cquartz 3.0 with turle wax seal and shine as a top up instead of reload? or regular maintenance after wash? Would there be any side effects to that? Top up would really help or it doesn't help?

Awesome video but I have a question. If you're standing in front of your car as if you're about to open the hood, is it advisable to apply a section of ceramic coating left to right then up and down or the other way (up and down then left to right)?

How many times can you compound and polish your clear coat before it's removed to the point where it no longer protects your paint? Like if you compound/polish every 2y to redo your ceramic coating is your clear coat down to the point of repainting after 6y? 8y? etc

If the coating is way tougher than the clear coat, this must mean that when you compound the car, you’re removing a little (or a lot) of clear coat along with what’s left of the coating. How do you know how much compounding to do (I.e. how do you know when the coating has been removed)?
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
When the water is slow to sheet off and the paint feels grabby (no more slickness).
@dylanenslin43824 жыл бұрын
One question. If you going to be polishing (and maybe compounding) every two years to prep for the new ceramic coating and that "eats" through the clear coat, how long would the clear coat last on average before you have to redo the clear coat. Is this a concern? That you "cutting" every two years into your clear coat.
@PanTheOrganizer4 жыл бұрын
If you had a brand new car, and only polish once every two years, you don't have to worry about your clear coat as that won't be removing much material. What I don't recommend is a heavy compound and polish every two months lol.

Luv ur channel, so informative. I have a question. I applied CQuartz UK 3.0 (2 coats) and Carpro Gliss (1 coat) last Sept '18. I'd like to reapply Gliss this month since it said to last 12 months. I plan to chemically decontaminate with Iron X & Tar X. Would u recommend applying Essence+ (plus) to prep the surprace prior to apply another coating of Gliss? Any feed back or suggestions would be appreciated!
@hotwheels19975 жыл бұрын
Essence is a polish. It'll remove CQUK 3.0 as well. Just decontaminate the surface and apply Gliss.

All skills forgotten now since , transffered to sales side :P Now looking into getting some of mine own detailing stuff mainly as a hobby and help friends. Thanks for the nice vids bro! Question about the coating removal, if you do machine polishing to remove the coating, in which point do you know when you hit the clear coat? Are there some signals or marks on the surface when you start hitting the clear coat?
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
There should be almost no water beading and very slow water sheeting. Great indicators that there is no protection left on the clear coat.
@footprintsinconc5 жыл бұрын
So I watched you video on installing the one coat and carpro reload so I did that. I didn't realize you did three coats. I have taken the car out ofnthe garage once now. If I want to add the 2nd or 3rd coat, how do I remove the reload? Since the first coat was put on a few days ago, I will just install the next ceramic coats once repels comes off? How long did you wait in between the different coats?
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
It's too late now. The recommended amount of layers for CQuartz UK 3.0 is 2 layers. I had 2 coats of that plus 1 coat of Gliss. In a week, wash the car and apply a layer of Gliss and you'll be fine.

@Pan TheOrganizer Thanks Pan. Can I ask another question. Based on your experience, can you advise me what are the effects if I were to apply my Carpro CQ.UK 3.0 onto my car if there is existing sealant/coating? I'm not too sure on this but my understanding is that they all serve as a sacrificial surface for protection.
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
You can't apply CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 (or any other true ceramic coating) on top of existing waxes or sealants. Ceramic Coatings MUST be applied to well prepped virgin clear coat. They need to bond directly to the clear coat. Here's my popular tutorial showing how to apply a ceramic coating, with all the steps that are involved so you can get a better understanding of the process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKqulIypet6Kfc0

Hi Pan! I applied the same ceramic coating on my car. The initial results were amazing and exactly as expected. But unfortunately, after 2 months, the coating has worn off. There is no hydrophobicity and no ease in cleaning as it was before. I know I applied it correctly because initial results were exactly as expected. Can you suggest what went wrong? One more thing I should mention is that I applied the coating on my brand new car (just after 2 days I bought it). Thanks!

Thanks for the video, Pan. I believe Meguiars wash plus soap will remove the coating. Unfortunately that product is sold in Europe and not in North America. I bought one from Germany to remove the old wax on the car. It worked flawlessly.Or we can try Nerta Active Diamond (ph 14 soap) which will remove the coating. These are my assumptions. I don’t have ceramic coating on my car. But I believe the above products will remove the ceramic coating on the car.
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
We do have the Wash Plus soap but that alone will not remove a true ceramic coating. Only machine polishing will. Wash+ can help remove old layers of waxes and sealants. Not a ceramic coating.

In my own experience, the original cquartz is a lot better than the 3.0 I used both on my car and windshield and i am disappointed in 3.0. Yes it works but the original was a lot better. I did a test on my hood where i applied cquartz on half the hood and once a year nu finish wax on the other side. I had it for a while then got into an accident so got a new hood and had to redo the test but this time i had the 3.0 and re applied it the same way. What i saw this time that the water spots on the hood in the morning ( humid flordia) roll off a lot less compared to the old cquartz. I saw the effect and comparison between the ceramic coat vs the wax every day because i see my hood when i drive and i was always amazed how much water rolls off from the ceramic coat side just be driving the car ) compared to the wax side. Now with the 3.0 its almost the same. Also have it on my windshields and i can tell you that while is working pretty good its a lot less hydrophobic compared the original cquartz.

Say, in an ideal world, after a year protection still seems good and the is little/minimal Ceramic coating swirls/scratches would adding another coat of cquartz to a wash/clayed/iron x/deconed car prolong the life of the coating preventing a full compound/polish and reapply?

Ceramic coatings aren’t meant to protect against swirls, scratches or stone chips. If you want that kind of protection, apply PPF (paint protection film).
