Men was a very bizarre but interesting film. I interpreted that it was an examination of toxic masculinity or perhaps more specifically, hegemonic masculinity and how it continues to be handed down generationally. Particularly the birthing scene where the wound continued to be passed to each new man.

@@reggiechristian-mz1cf Being "masculine" in a purely cynical and immature way, being knowingly sexist, chauvinistic, shallow and/or generally a jerk, and using your masculinity as an excuse or acting as if your behaviour is "natural" and therefor you don't have to take responsbility for it. Also guys who support a patriarchal traditional establishment in which such behaviour is condoned or encouraged. Eg Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Lee, Clint Eastwood, Dwayne Jonhson, Sir Roger Moore are/were NOT toxic. But Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson, guys who profit or gain from by exploiting a sexist environment or social climate like Jimmy Savile, most incels, and most if not all sexist guys like that are certainly toxic. Giacomo Casanova was not toxic (if his memoirs are to be believed), but guys who view women only as objects certainly are. In fictional terms, Superman, Batman, Rambo, the Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig versions of James Bond, Neo from Matrix, Rocky, etc are not toxic. Patrick Bateman, Clubber Lang, Bill the Butcher, and most portrayals of James Bond are toxic. Basically if you use your maleness as an excuse to be a jerk or immature, then you are exhibiting toxic masculinity. That's my understanding of the issue, anyway
