The Donnas had a couple more hits in Australia and I'm pretty sure they were a really big deal in Japan for a while. Their drummer had to retire due to a back injury. They tried to continue with a new drummer but I think it probably just wasn't the same for the rest of them. They'd been playing together with that original line up since high school so it would have been strange replacing a core member of the band.

Drowning Pool contributed “Break You” to the Scorpion King soundtrack, which is a good song with a lot more lyrical and vocal content... honestly, they probably would’ve been a fairly successful band if the original vocalist hadn’t passed away so suddenly, Sinner was a fairly solid album for its time and place

The Runaways, Heart, and The Donnas. Here's a crazy idea: girls have always been able to rock just as much as the guys, and it's all y'alls misogyny that prevents you from seeing an all-girl band as legit. While 90's rock one hit wonders are all over the place and often come from weird or even kinda fringe bands, 2000's rock one hit wonders are more often than not associated with a certain format and sound way more formulaic and disposable, with only a few quirkier tunes here and there.

The whole album "Burning the Process" (signed to Dreamworks of all labels) was an excellent attempt to replicate that 90's helmet sound and expand upon it. "Beat the World" is an even better standout that actually charted at #39 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts. They unfortunately broke up 2 years after that record, mostly due to 9/11 slowing their momentum while touring and the label financially screwing them over. seriously, if you get the chance, check out both the album at this particular single. I think you'll be pretty surprised!

Oh god, "Bodies" instantly made me think of an E3 pretty much fresh out of AIT who was renting the house behind me. He would blare that song. He'd also wolf whistle at me and climbed my fence drunk. Found him passed out in the backyard, good times.

I really miss The Donnas, I could have sworn though Fall Behind Me and Who Invited You were decent size hits back then too.

Im...so...old. I can still jam out to most of these. That "shake it" shit though? Nah man. Nah. Even back then, just, nahimgood.

I could swear I remember the Donnas having a second hit.

I love "Face Down" and "Boys of Summer". I was introduced to the former the same way every mid-00s highschooler was but I was introduced to the Ataris via "The Night the Lights Went Out in NYC" from the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack and didn't know about "Boys of Summer" until a solid six or seven years after Spider-Man 2 came out :)

Would the band Filter be a two hit wonder? Take A Picture and Hey Man Nice Shot. Great band though.

Did "Welcome to the Fold" chart? or "The Best Things"? ... they just feel like more than a two-hit wonder. (This is from someone who owns 7 albums, though not 'Murica'.)
@mjnation78763 жыл бұрын
@@Coyotek4 I have the 7 albums and Title Of EP. Not sure when Murica will come out. The Best Things and Welcome To The Fold did chart but not near as high as Take A Picture. Same with Where Do We Go From Here.

@@mjnation7876 I know "The Only Way (is the Wrong Way)" got used in a Hummer commercial, and my local rock station (briefly) played "Surprise" I feel like Filter is underrated.

@@Coyotek4 "The Only Way (Is The Wrong Way)" is legit one of my favorite song ever, and I'm still mad it wasn't released as a single cause I think it would have done great on Alternative and Hot AC formats.

I would count them as a two hit wonder

I always loved phantom planet, even saw them in concert. Never considered them a one hit wonder. I listened to them a lot for a bit. But California really did get a lot of play time

I kind of feel like the best bands in the emo scene were The Used, Thursday, At the Drive In, Alkaline Trio, Glassjaw and Thrice. You could safely ignore the rest.

The red jumpsuit apparatus are still touring the world! They have dropped albums and toured Australia at least 6 times. Was definitely the only mainstream hit but it’s not just ageing fans they have nailed doing DIY and still keeping relevant enough in my opinion haha.

yes, i wouldn’t say that they’re a one hit wonder
