just ordered the s1h and your videos are a godsend. been using the gh5 for 3.5 years and never bothered with timelapse because I don't want to assemble it in post. would have just brushed off the timelapse feature on the s1h not knowing you can merge it in-camera now. the overlay feature sounds interesting as well. does it work with an image I load onto the SD card?

Awesome thanks for this! We love our S1H! Another reason for the red tint in night mode is because the red spectrum keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark. Learned that when I was a kid and went to a star gazing observatory and they had it lit all red in the telescope room. Cheers!

Hello Dustin What do you think of the new firmware for the S1H? The latest AF technology and the performance of the new LUMIX S5. Do you hope to be able to record with AF?
@DustinArmstrongPro4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'm not counting on it being that much better. Hopefully I'm wrong
@stoneylonesomeASMR9 ай бұрын
For the life of me I can't seem to adjust the iris/aperture in manual video mode. My sigma lens doesn't have an aperture ring but the S1H won't let me adjust the aperture internally. Any idea?

Hi Dustin.. I have had NO END OF TROUBLE with my S1H with respect to the HDMI lag / latency ans pulling focus... I have a high quality HDMI cable going stright inth my Blackmagic Video Assist 7" 12G.. but it is almost impossible to nail focus manually with the added delay!! I am running on the new Full Frame DZO FILM CATTA ACE CINE ZOOMS.. but lens aside.. the only work around I have found is by turning off the sound output on the HDMI?.. Not tested this myself yet, and fine in theory if recording internally to the S1H, but cannot use this option if recording to the Blackmagic Video Assist.. I am in the UK so typically running on 1080 25p. Any ideas to help with the horrible HDMI lag would be most welcomed. Thanks.
@DustinArmstrongPro Жыл бұрын
Currently there's no fix to the HDMI lag. Still a pretty big lag with the sound off over HDMI but it does help. Hopefully it is improved in future models

Hey! I have 1 card set for video and one just for photos (the slower one), and I use it all the time wile i'm working, i shoot stills, and then change to video without any problems, it's pretty handy... So, You don't have to flipp the screen, You can set the sensor to change and block the screen when you are using the viewfinder. And for the overlay the image, You can actually select and export as a picture a frame from any video You take directly in the camera, so then you can use that image. Love your vids bro!

Really? I'm going to have to figure out how to do that. Thanks for the support!

5:45 for that I just turn touch tab off in settings. It’s the setting that allows you to control focus area with the touch screen. Hope this helps!

this camera is so amazing, it is in my opinion far better for working then the s5, i needed to shoot an interview yesterday. the interview had i to shoot in 4k 50p for over an hour. this would not be possible with the s5 due to recording limit :)

I mean the S1H cost a lot more than the S5 so I would hope it's better

Thanks for these 10 ! Can you explain a little bit more the difference of the luminance levels ?
@DustinArmstrongPro4 жыл бұрын
They adjust your reference white and black reference points on the camera. So 0 is the lowest black level setting (unless you change it via master pedestal level) and 1023 is the highest white level setting. People that maybe doing broadcast may change the levels if they don't need that extra range. Mostly a broadcast setting again
@flog75924 жыл бұрын
@@DustinArmstrongPro Thanks ! And so what are the interests to not have the extra range ?

The biggest advantage of night mode is that red light does not disturb your night vision.
@juliancroot4 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure the luminance level is just a flag that tells older displays what luminance level represents black.... it doesn't actually change the image in any way. Its needed because in older times, NTSC and PAL broadcasts used different IRE levels to represent black, so if you were delivering to PAL territory you'd need blacks to be represented lower. And I may be wrong here, but pretty sure Final Cut and other editing programs ignore this flag anyway. So it always looks the same. You might see it represented differently on the waveform, but the image itself doesn't change. Useful video anyway, I'd quite like an S1H in my arsenal. I'd just like it to drop in price a little as I feel its overpriced at the moment.
@DustinArmstrongPro4 жыл бұрын
Ah that makes sense. There's not a ton of info out there from my research but you sound right. Kind of interesting they'd add it though if is kind of a irrelevant setting now that we're not in older times? But I guess if you can add it why not. If I'm wrong I'll always touch on it again in a later video to clarify👍 It's a great camera. The S5 may not be a bad option if price is what's holding you back. The S1H still has its advantages though over the S5

That’s my custom white balance setting #1. When you click your white balance setting if you go all the way to the right, you have 4 different ones you can set up. I have 1 set to 5600k, one at 4800k, one at 4200k, and one at 3200k since I use those the most
