I kind of made a time capsule as a kid. I took a bunch of toys, slinky, McDonald's toy. I can't remember what else. Burried it in my mum's back yard 30 years ago. I forgot where I burried it so someone is going to find some weird stuff one day. 😂

He is pronouncing it correctly ever since we borrowed it from the french in 1650 who took it from Latin. As with many American words it’s probably you who have changed the pronunciation.
