The ending of The Mist is perfectly foreshadowed. The crazy religious lady said that killing Thomas Jane's son would destroy the mist. And it did.

Thats a theory If you look at it,once you shut a valve off,it take a little time for the water to go away, same for this mist,if it was caused by the sacrifice of his son,the military would have appeared much much later.
@Nystariii8 жыл бұрын
You're right about the water, but keep in mind we don't know the first thing about the Mist or what it is. Remember the scene where they lifted the rolling door and the mist stayed perfectly flat and didn't seep in? Maybe it did want expiation. Maybe we finally figured how to beat it. Who knows for sure? That's why the ending works for me. I don't believe Carmody was morally right...but the possibility that she was right regardless of her lack of morals and sanity...a perfectly horrifying end to a horror movie about human nature.

+Naughtius Maximus Uhhh, you realize that isn't the only part to the ending, right? The main character just offed his kid and three other people for no reason whatsoever. The best/worst part is nobody can really fault him for that. By the time the movie gets to that point, the audience feels how he feels - there's no hope, so either die by the monsters, or die by your own hand. They all (except for the kid) chose to die by their own hand. But the last bullet is a dud, leaving the main character to face the monsters, only to find out there are no more. He is going to have to live with the guilt of needlessly killing those people - and his son - for however long he lives. A sequel to that movie should just follow him until his eventual suicide.

The Mist Ending..??? It was one of the best parts of that film, as the guy who protected his child (& few others) throughout the movie in the end out of desperation uses the gun, after everyone decides they wanna die fast, instead of being eaten by monsters.. as he runs out of bullets, he chooses to step out of the car and be eaten.. only to find out that the Mist was clearing and the Army was "saving the day".. you could literally see pain in into after realizing that if only he waited another 30 or so seconds, they ALL would've been saved.. Now I thought it REALLY was dramatic, especially that he cared so much about his son..

I thought the ending of The Mist was amazing. That might sound like a horrible thing to say, but it was a creative film ending that would leave people deeply thinking about what just happened for some time. The realization that the army was pulling in to save the day could have been stretched out a little more though, not immediately after the man shoots his son. Shawn McRoberts I remember the book portrayed them as dumb running into doors and stuff and the main character suspected they weren't natural- not products of any evolution. Something like a nasty looking mouth that would intimidate but would be useless to actually eat with. They all had a non uniform, twisted, randomness to them. Regardless dumb creatures or not they were countless and the mist obscures everything completely and was unaffected by wind currents nullifying any advantage of intelligence. The movie also ignored the part where the mist seemed to be driving people insane. Turning some into sheep and some into zealots. The crazy lady was forming a cult based on the mist and not just twisted christianity.

I thought the ending of "The Mist" was absolutely amazing! I view it like this: They were in a dangerous situation that was going to be the end of them. They lost ALL hope and Thomas Jane's character thought it would be best to put his kid, Andrea, Dale and the old woman out of their misery so they didnt have to face the sheer terror of being ripped apart by a vicious creature. IT was an action of strength, masculinity, and courage and his way of saying "You will die instantly without pain and I will fight until my last breath. I love you all. We tried our best and this is what I have to do so you dont have to suffer. THAT is how I view that ending. Its fuckin perfect.

Nothing controversial about Tim Burton's version of Planet of the Apes. It just tried to one-up the original and therefore threw all logic out the window and made a bizarre ending that only fools will try to make up an explanation for. Whether Deckard is a replicant or not in Blade Runner is almost irrelevant because the line between human and replicant has become so thin it's an academic question. One can even argue that the latest model replicants are more human than the real humans themselves. This is a recurring theme in Philip K. Dick novels - how 100% authentic copies of something is, for all intents and purposes, equally worth and that 99,99% won't know the difference. I saw the Inception ending coming a mile away.

The problem with 'I am Legend' wasn't the ending in particular. It was that they turned the movie into a somewhat typical zombie flick and the ending with the zombies/mutants coming to a peaceful accord with Neville wouldn't fit with any of the other zombie/mutant scenes in the movie. The ending they chose is the only way the movie makes any sense the way that it was originally shot.

Seriously the ending of Man of Steel pissed so many people off that in the last battle of BvS they stop every 5 minutes to point out that whatever location they're fighting in is currently uninhabited. Literally EVERY time they switch to a slightly new location a character had to turn to another character and say "don't worry, it's completely evacuated!". It's not just a transparent move by the director to placate critics, it more or less evolves into an unintentional running gag.

Where are those films that had half the audience fighting the other half with chairs ripped from the floor boards, with ambulances and riot squads being called the quell the quarrelsome queue for tickets to the last showing of the evening, with fire marshals guiding the fire engines to battle the flames in the carpark where its raining petrol bombs, and police helicopters taking ground fire from people who were pissed off the projector had "technical difficulties" during the last showing and thereby missed out on the last ten minutes of the film?

I love the ending to "The Mist." To me it's tragic and is a brilliant subversion of the typical "hero retains sanity" during an apocalyptic event trope where he/she turns out to have made the correct choice. The film paints the crazed religious woman and her followers as lacking any sense of reason yet ultimately it turns out she made the correct decision. Truth is there is no "right" or "wrong" thing to do under such dire circumstances. You do what you believe is necessary as he did; he just happened to have had the coin land not in his favor (or suffered the wrath of divine retribution, however you wish to see it).

I saw a theory that the loon who wanted to sacrifice the child was right. It was only after he shot his son that the mist cleared. That doesn’t really strike me as a Stephan King ending, fulfilment of prophecy by murdering a child, but it does explain the ending. If it was a true King ending, the innocent kid would end up being evil all along, and that would be the twist that gets the story going. Not just “Oh ya” at the end

Ugh I hate when people argue about the ending of Inception. The whole point is that it doesn't matter if the top keeps spinning or not, Cobb doesn't care.

Frankly I'm getting sick of having to defend man of steel, but here we go. 1: " hundreds of people died" and were killed by zod. You know, the bad guy? Superman isn't perfect like he is in the comics and can't be everywhere. 2: "snaps someone's neck". Again, he killed the bad guy. The bad guy that was in the process of vaporizing two people. Was he seriously supposed to let those people die?

+Mike White Well that's why it controversal. As in, not everybody agrees. And yes, fine, your reasons hold water, but the problem was that with MCU we got such good superhero movies that didn't rely on gritiness alone to make a movie. Which is what MoS did.

Zain The movie was still fun, and Ant-Man isn't your typical superhero. He is a thief who was trying to protect his daughter. Plus the whole consequances thing doesn't exist in MCU. As evidenced by Avengers 2. I admit, it is a negative for the series.

+vcom741 I get it, but here's the thing: MCU has lost of destruction. Remember age of ultron? Hulk and iron man fight in a city cause tons of destruction and no one takes issue. Batman begins ended with batman letting Ra's al ghul die. I haven't heard one person complain about it

+vcom741 dude. I was being sarcastic.. I personally love marvel, but man of steel isn't a bad film, hehe i agree with you though

I disagree with your view on Man of Steel. Immediately after it came out people assumed the mass destruction would have repercussions in the sequel. Is it really that hard to believe it was planned?
