My theory is that the NFL Regular Season is where teams actually play it out to get to the playoffs, for the most part. After that, the NFL looks at the teams that made it, and then decides who goes to the Super Bowl and then wins based off of what the best narrative would be. Case in point, there were more reasons, narratively-speaking for the Bucs to win the last Super Bowl over the Chiefs. Examples include Brady winning w/out Belichick, Tampa Bay winning in their home stadium, Establishing Brady as the GOAT by winning with two separate teams like Manning did, Establishing Brady's dominance over the new generation of QBs. You can't really find reasons for the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl, outside of Brady passing the torch over to Mahomes if the Chiefs won the game.

Tampa played at Dallas in the late 70's, John McKay era. Bucs got hot late, Refs. for playoff political reasons wanted Dallas. Boys couldn't stop T.B. so officials stepped in and pulled imaginary call after imaginary call against Bucs out of their arses. Boys were able to squeak by. When asked about the officiating the league put out a statement that "Mistakes were made". The fail mary game was the right call at the end. Tate had his hand on the ball the entire time. Odd how people act like a one handed catch never happens in the NFL. Another crazy thing is if Tate didn't have the ball then how was he able to maintain his grip with a single hand vs 2 by the DB even when they were wrestling for it on the ground.
