An underdog is a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is largely expected to lose.[1] The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is an upset. An "underdog bet" is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

What I like about Nate and Connor is that they represent the two polar fighter types that keep this sport exciting. One is a big showman, making a bunch of noise outside of the ring to drum up interest. He's the spectacle. Like a car wreck you just have to look at. He wants to become the best fighter for the people's eyes. The other is the pure warrior type. He's not interested in any interview or promotion or anything else outside of training and fighting. He doesn't play mind games, because he doesn't need to hobble his opponent before a fight. He goes in pure and wants the best fight out of his opponent, to really test his mettle and become the best fighter for himself. Both types make the sport the behemoth sports entertainment entity that it is today.

I still don't get why they had Diaz as much of an underdog for thr fight. I already knew what he could do and knew he could give Conor trouble if that man wasn't careful. Never expected Conor to get gassed so easily but still even more surprising to me was the odds for such an amazing fighter

@@JunkYardCardGuy Lol, you're the casual. You sound like every other casual UFC fan who thinks life is a video game by looking at stat sheets, and media articles. If you think anyone in the UFC cannot box, you're full of crap. Boxing is a requirement to have any success in mma no matter the era. Every UFC fighter practices boxing far more than you realize, and they have trainers for it. Sure, some fighters are better than others, and some separate themselves from the pack with their striking game, but Ronda could outbox a lot of her competition believe it or not. She might not be world class, but she could have been if she would have worked even harder at it. Honestly, Ronda being undefeated for a long period of time hurt her career, because she was surrounded by yes men, and they didn't tell her what she needed to hear, instead of what she wanted to hear. She got to the point where those losses devastated her so much she left the sport altogether. She could have easily changed her game, and had even more success later in her career despite no longer being the champion, but instead, she went out with her only 2 losses to better strikers. I'm not even a Ronda fan, and I loved seeing Holly Holm (a great boxer) beat her, and finish her. With that being said, Ronda could have put up a much better fight in that matchup if she would have had a game plan that she actually stuck too. Until she faced Holly Holm, Ronda pretty much walked through her entire division a couple of times because she was usually stronger, bigger, and more physically talented than the rest of the women, until she faced world class strikers like Holly, and Nunez.

One thing you didn't touch on for the GSP vs Matt Serra fight is that before winning TUF Serra was pretty much out the door. That season of TUF was all about people who had been in the UFC and had been released getting a second chance in the UFC and getting a title shot for winning it.

I watched serra and gsp live when it happened. One of the if not THE most amazing and surprising fight I've ever seen. I was a huge serra fan before that even, but after that he was the man to me. Still awesome, kind of a big mouth but still a solid dude. Lol
@druccas5825
@druccas5825 Жыл бұрын
I recently just watched the serra vs gsp match because I've been watching all of the ultimate fighter seasons from season 1 all the way up through 30. I used to watch TUF back in the day, but never watched it consistently even though I've done boxing, mma, muay thai, etc.. anyways, I just finished season 4, the comeback last week and serra was one of my favorites on that season. Good dude, great support, amazing leader, corner man and coach. And a pitbull of a fighter. Seeing him win the contract and get that title shot against either Matt or gsp was awesome. So after that I went and watched Hughes vs gsp to see who serra was going to fight for the belt. And that was quite a shocking match itself! I had never seen that one. But gsp dominated Hughes. After watching that fight, seeing gsp in his prime.. I honestly thought serra was being thrown to the wolves going against gsp for the strap. I knew serra was talented and a great fighter, but with him lacking a striking advantage, I didn't think he had a chance against gsp. But as soon as the 1st round started, I quickly noticed that serra had done some serious work on his stand up game. I was blown away with how he dominated gsp for the majority of the 1st round and then ended it at the end of the 1st round with a knockout for the win and strap! I couldn't believe it! Serra was a completely underrated fighter, but he was good.

If you think about it there's not much worse for a fighters mind before a fight than one of the, if not THE most honest type of creature in the world, tells you the other guy is stronger than you. Kids are very honest mostly, so yeah that would have messed with some people's heads, at least momentarily. That ONE off thought could throw your entire game off for a fight too. It don't fake much. It only take a half of a wrong move or even LESS to mess up enough to get K.O.'d. Blink wrong, think something right at that moment he's throwing his punch, thinking about your grocery list, all of it, it can all screw you, so his kid saying that, was probably a challenge to completely shut out and just go out and win.

I still want Diaz vs Mcgregor 3 Damn it!! I thought after Fedor's 2 losses in a row to the much bigger Bigfoot and Werdum that they really needed a Super-heavyweight division. You have 220 lb Randy's against 280lb Brock Lesnars that have to cut weight to make 265lbs. 50-60 lbs is a huge difference.
