Shame about the Alone in the Dark remake, probably just lack of marketing and bad reputation after that one PS3 game, that was a mess.

I got one that I always mention, Megaton Musashi Wired created by the incredible Level-5 studio who developed the Nino Kuni games. It wasn't published by Bandai Namco, they published it themselves so nobody really noticed. It features giant mechs with an anime-like art style and it's not only cute but also a pretty great game, I tried it myself I swear! You shouldn't sleep on that one.

@@TotallyTubularJonathan They are great developers, I played Nino Kuni 2 way back which I loved and it was immensely popular at the time. Now this one is really a mech game and those are usually not very popular, but this one in particular just totally flew under the radar. It really is like SD Gundam battle alliance but better in my opinion.

It’s not from 2024 but since we’re on the topic of overlooked games, I want to point you in the direction of Puppeteer. It’s a platformer on PS3 (currently on PS Plus) that is in the style of a stage play portraying puppets. Currently playing through it and it blows my mind that I’ve never even heard of it before. It deserves so much more love than it got. Also Christmas.

Merry Christmas! The new Alone in the Dark was such a pleasure to play. It has an amazing atmosphere. Also, The Lost Crown was weirdly amazing, even though it was made by Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has the potential to still make great games. The AC Chronicles games were precursors to Lost Crown. Far Cry still has great games and I love Watch Dogs.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes fits on this list. A pretty good time for oldschool RPG fans (not on the switch, though)

It’s sad that Alone in the Dark didn’t sell better and that it was dunked on by critics. Sure it’s not perfect but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I got the platinum trophy for it.

Crow Country is such a good game, I beat it all the way through, twice, back to back. I'm not even a horror game fan, but this ticked every box I didn't know I needed ticked.

I've played the new Prince of Persia game. I've enjoyed it a lot. And the last Metroidvania game I've played was Guacamelee.

Thanks for putting Prince of Persia: TLC on this list. My game of the year so far. It was just awesome, I put 42h into it without any regrets. It almost never happens to me that I don't want to look up a "how to" if I'm stuck in a game. This game was engaging af, so I WANTED to find a way by my own...and try a couple of hard places over and over. PS: This screenshot feature is awesome and should be integrated in any upcoming Metroidvania game!

Sand Land was fantastic

Contra was a good time. It's not in the top 5 but definitely in the top 10 for the series. The bike levels are too easy and too long as well but overall solid. Sand Land I'm bouncing off hard. I love the characters, the visuals, and story but everything else around it is mid or boring. Not even bad. Just bland. Idk if open world was the best idea for that game when so much of the quest design and the mechanics are kind of milquetoast.

All the Super Monkey Ball games play the same to me. I don't know how you can think that one of them is better than others. Maybe I just don't get the gameplay yet.

Most of the hate on Wrath is cause its developed by Slipgate Ironworks who developed the Rise Of The Triad reboot and this years Phantom Fury which a lot of the shooter crowd has deemed as the worst most disappointing game of the year so a bunch of folks have just gone on a slipgate boycott also cause of some other weird practices and decisions theyve done. Will check out Wrath now that you recommended it sounds decent. Phantom Fury sucked though unfortunately.
