I have just bought an Epiphone Excellente FF550 from a charity shop. What gorgeous guitar. Solid top and back. Narrow neck. Lovely balanced sound. Love action without buzzing. An absolute joy to play and the tone is lovely - great for finger picking or strumming.

My first two guitars were Epiphones: a basic 6-string and a basic 12-string. Both were acoustic and well within my college years budget! What I admire most in the Epiphone line of guitars is that it fits perfectly in my small hands. I am able to master difficult chords with ease. As a musician of piano, organ, guitars, viola, vocals, and percussion, music has been the most important aspect of my life, and there's no stopping me! I had the honor and privilege to have been a US Army Band and Chorus member, serving 25 years all over the world wherever I was assigned. Of course, as a soldier, I wore many other duty hats, but music took me above and beyond where boundaries did not matter. A Great Big "Thank You" to Epiphone, for making my dreams come through and filling my life with the "One Thing" that makes me who I was born to be!

They are the same price. But all of the ones they showed are in the $500 price range. I have the IBGE J-200 full body with tax over a thousand dollars and the Execllente with tax 1400. The higher priced solid body guitars are worth the price.

I have a Kalamazoo FT 350 BL. From 1972. Maple back and sides spruce top. Japanese crafted. They can be bought less than 500 bucks. They don't make a guitar as good that anymore.

Epiphone being being entry level is a thing of the past. What rock have you been hiding under? The Asians are making great guitars nowadays especially the Indonesians & the Chinese. What do you want to pay $5000 for a Gibson or a Martin or $1000 to $1500 for a Epiphone or Sigma of equal finish and tone. Solid tops back and sides or laminate back and sides? Are the logos on the head-stocks really worth five times as much?
