I will say having a BMW M4 from 2016 when I bought it new and I still have it, runs amazing and I rip on it all the time. I maintain it and I haven’t had a single issue with it over the 8 years of having it. I’ve owned a lot of cars but this one seems pretty bulletproof so far.

Im surprised you’re saying this about the M4. If you’re not talking BS, then you’re amongst the lucky few who never had a headaches with M4. I was an M4 owner, it’s most exciting sedan I ever had. But I had endless headaches with it. It was a money pit, there’s neverending issues. I bought it second hand past warranty but still considered reasonably new, looks good and drives great at first. No issues for like 5 months. Thereafter the headaches started and they keep coming. I have to go the bmw dealership for repairs as it’s hard to sell it at competitive prices without that BMW dealership stamp. And the repairs are really expensive. Glad I was able to sell it.

I can personally vouch for the MDX. Specifically, the 2nd gen (2007-2013) with the 3.7L J37A1 SOHC v6 engine and SH-AWD system. We bought it with 118k mi and now have 195k mi on the odo. The timing belt was replaced at around 130k mi, along with both front CV axles and an oil leak was addressed. Since then, I've just replaced brakes, the starter, and an electric door module. This car still has the original COPs and spark plugs. It still runs like a champ and can really get up to speed without issue. The 3.7L v6 is a very good powerplant for a vehicle this size. The trans fluid change is similar to an engine oil change. It's literally just a drain and fill procedure taking 30min at most. Just use genuine Honda automatic trans fluid and you'll be fine. The A/C went out at around 175k mi, but I was able to repair that relatively easily. The SH-AWD system is very offroad capable. It's no rock crawler, but it can navigate most trails. Just don't try to cross a mud bog, or expect Jeep level suspension travel. But it defeats the diagonal slip test. I haven't had any issues with the AWD system. This vehicle is awesome in the snow. Overall, I work on this vehicle less than any of the others I have. It's also our only family vehicle. Highly recommended for those who still do their own auto maintenance and want a dependable luxury SUV platform that can also trail on occasion. As far as the video is concerned. I have heard very good things about the B58 engine. It is an I6, which would be easy to work on theoretically. It can make big power that's for sure. I'm more concerned about the rest of the vehicle though. This is a BMW afterall. The RX350 is very reliable. Perhaps the most reliable on this list. Same with the Cayenne. At least 1st gen with NA 4.5l and 4.8L V8 models. Not sure about the V6 and TT models. I don't understand this distain for timing belts. I've had them on all my cars. I've changed them on all my cars. They're relatively easy to get to, in Hondas, you'll change them when you change your water pump. On my Nissan hardbody, I changed the timing belt with the change of my water pump. With 115k mi and 29yrs, the belt didn't even look like it needed to be replaced. IMO, a belt beats a long chain. No plastic tensioners that disintegrate over time. No chain stretch that distorts timing. Or sprocket wear from oil starvation. I've only had one belt snap and I had it coming. I had a non-interference engine so I didn't even care. I replaced it in 2hrs. These belts are behind timing covers. No RTV, no oil, no chain guides. No double or triple chain combos. Just one belt. Give me a belt-timed Honda over a chain-timed Audi any day of the week. It's a 75k-100k mi change that takes 2hrs on average. 3-4 if the water pump is also changed. Unless you're running an OHV pushrod engine, a belt just makes better sense. I prefer a timing belt, but maybe I'm the only one. Anyway, great video. It's a well compiled list. Thanks for listening. Cheers.

@@AtownCangri If you think "maintenance" keeps German cars reliable, you are full of crap. Here are some facts: 1. German cars are designed to last the warranty period, and fail after that--FACT. 2. After that they are money pits. $4K to replace a thermostat in an Audi, $6K to fix a Mercedes convertible top, same to repair air/hydro suspensions that leak. Turbos that fail, fuel injectors that fail, cheap bio-degradable plastic parts that crack after 5 years, bio-degradable wiring that rots after 10 years........Gimmie a break dude. 3. In dash electronics, body hardware, electrical, fuel system, leaks, climate systems, steering racks, NONE of these can be "maintained". They either work or do not. After warranty is gone on a German car, THEY DO NOT. 3. Aside from fluid or filter changes, there is no maintenance needed on cars today for the first 60,000 miles. So to say a vehicles life can be extended if maintained is BS. 4. I test factory cars for a living, been doing it for 3 decades, ALL brands including BMW, Benz, Mini, Audi, BMW. On the Audi segment I’ll have to chime in and make some adjustments to your comments. The 3.0T engine combined with the 8 speed auto is excellent. It’s available on multiple models as well, the Q5, the A6, A7, A8. They are all awesome. I have one of these myself and it’s inching close to 200k now. Zero issues. The S4 even with the second gen DSG can still have issues. I’d put it below the other models I mentioned. The 2.0T I wouldn’t sleep on, 2013+ especially. I’ve had multiple 2.0T cars, they have never failed me either. You might do timing chains once during the car’s life, maybe a water pump leak, but that’s it. After much research I bought a 2013 Lexus GS350 with 70,000 miles. Yes, it's not the most stylish car, but it does well. 306 HP normally-aspirated bulletproof V6, rear-wheel drive (the ES is front-wheel drive) , Sport mode and Eco mode. 5.9 second 0-60 (I clocked it) and 150+ top end. It's a musclecar in a Brooks Brothers suit. In Eco mode I get about 26 MPG on the highway, and I stomp on the loud pedal a LOT, pretty good for the power and size. Yes, the 1st Gen infotainment and navigation is a bit squirrelly but it does OK. That's the only real gripe I have with the car. I plan on keeping this one for a LONG time.

I own a 2011 C207 (W212 coupe) E200, not everything is so good with M271 turbo. I bought one 4 years ago with just 27k km (17k miles) of range and everything is not that good. Current range is 117k km (73k miles) and I've encountered problems (some of them - several times) with camshaft adjuster, crankcase ventilation valve, thermostat, almost all engine seals and heat exchanger. These engines also have oil pressure issues pretty often. But i still love my car so much. The best engines for W212/C207/W204 are M274 (2.0 liter since 2013) and M276 (3.5 liter since 2012) - they are really reliable. I hope this information will be useful for someone.

@@kidvybez I don't know about the gasoline engines, but the diesels are good. Straight 6 diesels especially are supposed to be fairly reliable in this generation, but V6 are good as well. And as far as the E55 goes, that 5.4l V8 is probably one of the most reliable performance engines out there, way more reliable than the 6.2l which was put in the E63 W211 in later production years. I don't really know where this unreliability claim comes from. I get what he is saying with the SBC pump I guess, but then again OP seems to be American, and I'm pretty sure the SBC pump has a 25 year recall period there. Maybe the gasoline engines are less reliable or something, idk.

I have a 2008 MDX that has 225,000 miles on it…2nd timing belt…and is cherry…no rattles…and I live in the mountains of NC and my driveway is 100 feet at 8 degrees…no problem with the Super Handling AWD…even with 18” of snow and ice. Finally the 300 HP normally aspirated V6 is still strong. This is the best thing I’ve ever bought. I did have the front seats reupholstered last year for $1000. But overall? I can’t kill this car.

He is showing 1 bmw and only one. And it is non of the m cars. The b58 is super reliable. They even made it best or most reliable car of 2021. They build that engine for Toyota to go in the supra so it’s build by Toyota’s standards. So yeah it is really reliable. That Audi s 4 with the v6 on the other hand. Idk if that should have made it on the list. Rest of the cars were good. Deff Lexus and Acura.

Hyundai Genesis 2015-16 or Genesis G80, G90 with the 5.0, these are super reliable. Not the fastest with only 420hp, however it is quicker than most cars on the road and really picks up on the freeway. I am at 116k miles on mine, zero issues, just regular oil changes and then fluid changes at recommended intervals. Interior is like the day I bought it, everything holding up even the electronics after almost 10 yrs now.

Change wear items sooner than required and rebuilt the suspension. It has been so far very reliable.

Just a few things to add from a VAG mechanic... The 3.0 supercharged from 2010 to 2015 is epic. So smooth, reasonably reliable and you can get over 400hp with a tune. Instead of a Cayenne, a fully loaded Touareg 3.6 will save you so much more money in maintenance, and essentially the same vehicle. Nobody will respect you having a V6 Cayenne anyway haha
