I can't predict VW's future. What I do know is I have been driving VWs since 1973 and the message I received is VW isn't interested in buyers like me anymore. So hopefully VW will be able to find two new customers to make up for throwing away future new car sales to me.

The German cars have been and still are notoriously unreliable IF driven more than 80K miles or there abouts. Too many sensors and too much plastic. My 1995 BMW 325i was the most reliable cuz it didn't have all the plastic. Shouldn't have ever sold it. I have owned 4 BMWs not because they are reliable, they aren't, but because they are super great road cars. I have a Lexus ES350 for reliability and long road trips.

I *know* shit’s bad right now because when I got hit at a red light in my 2020 Civic Si Coupe, I bought it for 26.5k, and insurance paid me out 28.5k… I made a profit from a wreck because the car market inflated around my car. Wild stuff. I only had that car for about 5 months… I miss it, but to buy another one would be incredibly unintelligent in this market. Now I just have a nice cheap reliable 2004 Accord V6 manual.
