Great tips. We just got back from our trip last week on the Disney Magic. We also decorated our door. We bought a waterproof case attached to a lanyard. It worked great for us. I also have a solar power charger I used on the trip when we left the ship. We did pirate night too and had costumes. I took video of our trip on my KZbin channel.

Yeah, we try and arrive at the port as early as we can, so for us it could be several hours without our luggage, so we need to be prepared for that.

If you are in an inside cabin you might want to bring a flashlight or plug in night light vs leaving the bathroom light on with the door open.I always bring earplugs,sometimes people are a little noisy in the hallway .

Not only are the doors magnetic but the walls of the cabin are too. We bring magnetic hooks and magnetic containers/ canisters from the dollar tree to put by each of our beds for storing our lanyard and our earbuds and all those personal items we like by our bed. And we use them to hang stuff in the bathroom too. Even the ceiling of the shower is magnetic so we hang our wet swimming suits from magnetic hooks.

Adam and Sherri great tips ! I never knew about the pirate theme night. You guys need to make up business cards before you leave. You can advertise your You Tube channel as well as Sherri is going to be swamped with "Where can I get those ears ?" and she can say proudly " I made them". They seriously are the cutest ones I have seen and you are so crafty you need to sell them. I always take a thermos with me that had a flip top lid. I'm not too graceful so giving me a cup with a straw is a recipe for disaster ! I throw the thermos in a tote bag and that is what I carry around the ship during the day. I also put in some snacks, my e-reader, and if the ship has give a ways I don't have to run it back to the cabin I can toss it into the tote.

Hi! If you are a Platinum level Castaway Club member (sailed more than 10 times) you can check-in online at midnight, 120 days before you sail. If you are a Gold level Castaway Club member (sailed more than 5 times) you can check-in online 105 days before you sail. If you’ve sailed at least once you are a Silver level Castaway Club member and can check in online 90 days before sailing. Do you know what level Castaway Club member you are?

The walls are magnetic so we bring magnetic hooks for the walls to hang extra clothes or the lanyards. We also bring an old gift card with a magnetic strip attached so we can activate our light without using our key to the world card. We just stick it to the wall above the light when we leave the room. Our next cruise is in June!

How exciting! For Alaska in September we would definitely recommend layers! It could be sunny and beautiful, or it could be rainy and windy and colder. So, we would recommend a light rain jacket, a sweatshirt or hoodie for underneath it and then shirts for under that. You can always take off layers, but you want to be prepared for everything.

Hi Kim! Because of TSA size limitations we either buy sunscreen at a store near port before we get on board, or we pack a regular size bottle of it in our checked baggage on the plane. The small bottles that we can take with us through TSA are just too small to use over an entire cruise.

You can only use your key to the world card to pay in bars and stors onboard, so what you need to do is apply your disney gift cards to your onboard account (you can do that at guest services onboard) and then all of your charges go against your account where the gift cards are. Any remaining balance at the end of your cruise just gets charged to your credit card on file.

dan bauman You will pay for everything on the cruise and on Castaway Cay thru you card that is tied to your room. Tips are $12 a day per person in you cabin. If you get exceptional service you can increase this amount if you want.

Some of the costs to be aware of are: alcoholic drinks, souvenirs, Palo and Remy, dinner costs, packaged food items like M&M's and other candy from room service and concessions, Dole Whips, smoothies, coffee drinks from Cove Cafe (mochas, lattes, etc). Some other costs are gratuity that will be added at the end of your cruise, as well as any gratuities you want to give baristas, bartenders, and room service attendants.

Have you cruised with any other cruise lines? I'd be curious to see if Disney is "worth" paying double what other cruise lines charge. I was quite shocked when I began comparing the costs for what you get with different cruise lines. I know room service and drinks aren't always included on other lines, but I wouldn't necessarily say those things are worth paying double. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

We have only been on Disney, however, we're definitely planning to try another cruise line just so we have something to compare it to. All I can say is that I feel like I get a premium experience on Disney, from the food to the entertainment to the service, so I don't mind the higher cost. However, it will be nice to go on another cruise line just to compare it!
