This is seriously the video I wish I'd had before I went on my cruise last month! I realized that watching so many tip videos actually made me anxious when I got on the ship - Did I book the right excursions? Was my room in the right part of the ship? Did I have the the best activities planned? I found out I fall somewhere between Sherri and Adam. I like to anticipate and plan, but many, many, many of the best and most memorable parts of the cruise were the little gems I stumbled upon myself - without the myriad videos. And, my enjoyment of various choices was not the same as that of many of the vloggers I had watched. This video is all sensible advice, but leaves the details up to the traveller!
@LeggLife6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think that feeling of anxiety is VERY common! There are so many details that it's easy to drown in them and forget that vacations are supposed to be fun and exciting, not anxiety-inducing and stressful! :)

Hello guys. This is a great video. We just returned from our very first cruise ever on the Disney Dream. It was amazing. My wife won the cruise on a radio station here in CA. We could not believe the royal treatment we got on board the ship. AMAZING!!!. My 5 and 9 year old had the time of their life. We are now thinking about planning our own trip which will include our 2 older kids as well. We were spoiled with the state room with a veranda so now we have to get the same kind of rooms. We are hoping to plan and save to book the Mediterranean trip in 2 years. So excited. I am still watching our own videos and other KZbin videos. Thanks again for this great video.

Totally agree about time sensitive items. If you know you want matching shirts or customized water bottles or anything like that, order it as soon as you can. We ran into a family on the Fantasy where the whole family had matching shirts except the dad because he ordered a size too small and the replacement didnt get to him in time for his cruise.

I oddly don’t get excited about stuff until it’s gonna happen within the next couple days. It’s like it’s not quite real until then. Agree with everything that Adam and Sherri say! Our 14th cruise is in 274 days, and our booking window opens June 7. The Disney Navigator app is fun to use before the cruise, and an absolute necessity once you get on board! I also agree about booking your cruise as early as possible. There are some itineraries that Disney may only do once or twice a year, and they will sell out quickly. And don't worry about the price - if the price drops, Disney will refund the difference.

I like the tip about asking, but my tip is don't wait to get on the ship to ask. We got second seating and really wanted main seating because we have a 3 yr old and 8:00 is just too late for us. So, we called DCL and got on the waitlist. Then magically one day on the website, it just changed. Boom ..Disney Magic! By the way we have 32 days til sailing now!!!
@LeggLife5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we 100% agree with not waiting to ask. We always ask for what we want in advance, but in the event you can't get it in advance, it can be helpful to try once you're on board.

A side tip: The booking window goes live at midnight east coast time on the day it is scheduled to open. That means west coasters have an advantage since that is only 9PM our time. I saw on my Facebook group for my last cruise that lots of people were planning to stay up to book right when it opens and I didn't have to stay up at all! This is one of the only times I've ever had an advantage living in this time zone!

May the 4th be with you 2020 on the Disney Dream. Can’t wait!!! We may have to cruise from our home port of Galveston in Fall 2019 to help get us through 😀. Here’s a tip. If you want to do one of the alcohol tastings, but they’re booked when your cruise window opens, you do have the option to book a private tasting. You need at least 10 people. I put out a message on the Facebook page for our cruise looking for people who wanted to join us, and I got the number I needed. I just had to supply DCL the names and cabin numbers of the people who wanted to participate. DCL handled the charges themselves. I think it was $25 per person. We had a blast.

I can't wait to cruise again, but we haven't committed to anything yet! It's hard because our girls are so little right now. We really want to do one of the European cruises, but we don't want to subject them to that super long flight. We did the 5 day Mexican Riviera cruise in October and barely got off the ship. I usually like exploring the ports, but we couldn't do any of the more adventurous activities that I'd normally have chosen. I predict many cruises in our future though, especially once our girls are school aged!

One other tip is to book your flight a day or two before you set sail, NEVER book your flight the same day you set sail because something could happen like your plane is delayed and then you might miss the ship!
@LeggLife5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's SO important! We always fly in at least a day before. We like the piece of mind that even if there is a travel disaster, we can still make it!

Hello, I am excited but nervous this is the fist time we have to fly to the port the other two cruises we have taken leave from San Diego our home town, my question do you book your flight through Disney? Is one day before the cruise enough time? So many thing in consideration do we stay at s Disney resort to take advantage of transportation? Maybe you can help me out, thank you so much enjoy watching your videos and looking forward to hour next destination.
@LeggLife6 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching :) We have never booked our flight through Disney, we always book direct with the airlines. I would say that one day before the cruise is normally enough time, however some things to take into consideration: Are you traveling during hurricane season when a storm could cause delays? Are you traveling during a busy time of the year when airports and flights are typical delayed? If so, it may be better to give yourself a little more time. Obviously, there is no way to know for sure, but it's better to be safe than sorry. As far as transportation, what works best for your group? Sherri and I always rent a car while on vacation, so we drive ourselves to the port and park there. However, there are MANY good shuttle options from WDW to the port that are very reliable, including Disney's transportation.

We have only done one disney cruise and we booked it as soon as we could. Now we are thinking of doing a cruise sooner rather then later. We are doing universal as of right now in august 2019 but might switch to the disney cruise. Can the price jump really low if we pay in full near the date it is due?
@mommymarine17566 жыл бұрын
Samantha VanderWal we have a little experience with that. I can’t say that the price was as low as ever but we booked about 3 months out for a cruise and booked an inside guaranteed stateroom. It was at it’s lowest point since we had started tracking it. We literally checked daily and sometimes twice a day as we saved up money monthly. We decided to do the cruise in January and cruised in June 2018. Guaranteed rooms are the cheapest as far as I know.
