What sucks about the Derozan/Lavine duo is that they were never supposed to be a duo. It was supposed to be a trio with Lonzo, which could have worked out really well, and kind of did work out for the brief amount of time all three shared the court together. But without Lonzo, or really any true floor-general type point guard, we're left with a lot of nice buckets, and a lot of mediocre team success

KD and Kyrie were healthy in 2022, but couldn't even get a game off Boston. KD also underperformed last year in the playoffs against Denver, The Suns really only won those games because Booker went crazy. Embiid was healthy in 2018, 2019, and was relatively healthy in 2022 but played horribly in the eliminating rounds.

@@hansonlee5847 that’s why I’m saying a prime healthy D Rose. There would be no chemistry issue since Rose Lupe clearly be #1 with no torn acl. And it wasn’t a poor pairing. We would’ve went to the finals in 2015 if the refs called a time out in game 4 when the Cavs didn’t have anymore

1) The Rockets still could've knocked off the Warriors without Paul if they had changed their game plan instead of jacking up 27 straight missed 3s. 2) Billy Donovan deserves just as much blame as Russ and PG for how much that duo underperformed. 3) KD and Kyrie's pairing would've been more successful if nothing else but injuries had occurred. 4) Dame and CJ actually overachieved as a pair, but their partnership should've ended earlier than it did imo.

Russ went off in 19-20 with Harden not because of small ball, but because of two things. First, his fingers (which had been totally wrapped at the start of the season) healed in December and of course thats when he went on his tear. Second, he started posting up smaller guards at an insane rate. He was on par with Lakers Shaq in terms of scoring in the paint. Little bit of revisionist history going on when people say he needed small ball. I honestly think small ball was the downfall of Houston because Harden needs a big man who is a lob threat. It doesn’t matter because Russ played like shit in the bubble (regardless of torn quad).

As a Knicks' fan, Amar'e and Melo could've also been here. 3 playoff appearances, and only 1 conference semi-finals appearance to show for it. Melo was great, even if he could've done some things better on and off the court, but Amar'e was just cooked. His knees were dead, and the Melo/Amar'e duo just never fully gelled. Didn't help that the front office never got a permanent solution at point guard. That may have been the biggest problem.

CP3 x Blake CP3 had to do everything for that offense to succeed outside of maybe Crawford killing off the bench. Blake got spoon fed and when he didn’t he took bad contested mid ranges that tanks his efficiency. Then all of a sudden he evolves when he gets to Detroit (similar to Kemp when he decided to become a “middy magician”) but they weren’t good and he just kept getting injured. To me he’s the highest level of role-player you could get. (Idc if he finished top 3 in MVP votes that year). Also, fora throwback (i know we’re talking about the more recent waves) one of the greatest “what if’s” are the cousins Vince Carter & T-Mac Duo. If that could’ve worked out….

But between injuries and locker room struggles it never really worked out for them. It is weird to think now that both Kristaps and Brunsen are both key players on playoff teams in the East.
