I was laughed out of Ford for the reteo-mustang back in '92. "But no one wants old cars, kid." Said May's. Ten years later he took credit for it.

The design competition was his idea. The Mach V Mustang was the product of Ford wanting to replace the Mustang with a front wheel drive Mazda based car. That’s why there was no significant redesign for the Mustang from 1987 to 1993. It was supposed to be gone by 1990 replaced by the Probe (aka Mustang III).

Hi there. As it was mentioned in the video, the first car is built over the Jaguar XKR platform, but you are right that it was indeed designed to resemble the Aston Martin DB5, I should have mentioned it in the narration as well.

I'm torn between the David Brown Speedback (which, to me, REALLY looks like a re-imagined Aston Martin DB4/DB5), which looks like it would be a SWEET road car...and the Lister, which would be just for fun. I think I'm going with the Speedback. BTW...that is NOT a 1959 Daytona Coupe. Those didn't come out until the mid sixties.

Thank you so much for not using RoboVoice!!! You speak better English than most native speakers. I am sure this will not surprise you, but a room full of men (all of whom have driven high performance cars from the 1950s and 1960s, and all of whom lament the passing of that greatest generation of automotive manufacturing) were practically drooling over the beautiful cars you showed us in this video. I am supposed to tell you they all love your voice. Keep it up.

@@automotiveterritory you hit the nail on the head there because hp is cheaper nowadays. Instead of making car million air, they should license all these companies and make it in one place to achieve scale of economy to bring down price around 50k - 85k so blue collar can enjoy their dreams. If Kia can make 400hp car for 30k, I dont see why it cost 600k for an older car unless they trying to prevent existing classic car loosing it price. Rich man game i guess.

@@automotiveterritory : I'd go for the Land Rover Defender Heritage (with roof) and it has such a diverse history - think what could happen in 70 years and being a global icon - any motoring enthusiast (like myself) couldn't help but like the car. Notable mentions are Ford Bronco, David Brown Mini Remastered, I'll bypass the DB Speedback, as the initial outlay is the cost of SEVEN top end Jaguar XJ luxury cars with little change to spare, unfortunately its not a car on my wishlist. The Land Rover Defender Heritage gets my vote!.

I was about to say you missed Jaguar Eagle Speedster. But the way you used the word "Sophistication" really offended me. To me It's far superior than some wealth and any earthly stuff. Sophistication defined by the way of thinking or seeing as we are a small part of this vast Universe, It's a matter of different perspective or knowledge of Idea itself. You're reviewing cars, which is different. But please don't try to ruin anything you don't understand.

Is it just me or do the Speedback GT and Silverstone remind anyone else of the Astin Martin db5 james bond car. Put an Astin Martin grill on the front and boom a modern classic take on the DB5.

Good video. But the voice? Why? Its like putting a Mickey Mouse badge on a cool car. Just spoils it my friend, because I am glad this video exists. The accent is not a problem. The modulation sounds artificial. The English is excellent. You are so close to having a perfect production. Liked (of course).

The ones building these cars seem to be pricing them as if they were the ones with the original designs. These cars regardless of build design/quality are still tribute cars and should be priced accordingly.

Sorry to mention it, But already the first introduction of the Dpeedback GT says it is based on the Design of the Jaguar XKR, But every petrolhead sees, that it is modeled after the Aston Martin DB5.... Just sayin'.

Hi there. Quick note. As it was mentioned in the video, the Speedback GT was "built on the Jaguar XKR platform". Design wise it was inspired by the DB5 indeed.

Hi, Jason. Thanks for your comment. Let me quote myself and clarify things: "Speedback GT, is based on the underpinnings of the Jaguar XKR with exterior and cabin design inspired by the 1960s grand-tourers". This car was built over the XKR, but the final look indeed has Aston Martin DB5 in it. Hope this helps. Cheers

About time. Why are all the new cars so vile. Over creatively designed by people with little to No taste and still manage to look cheap. This is a refreshingly wonderful re introduction of style sophistication and glamour. Please please make new pretty cars that can be enjoyed by all and at affordable prices.

...to come up with something new that doesn't look derivative of former ideas, require constant research & a talent of insight...not exactly an easy feat. The current people in the field walks on the path laid by innovators, visionaries, people gifted with unusual perspectives, Genuises who opened up doors to explore possibilities which the respective industries today operates on. To actually come up with something new means discovering what was not known to former people of talented vision. & That is very rare in probability terms. The answer rather lies in perfecting what's already there instead of looking for substitutes hoping to change the entire picture of existence.

if David Brown could built such nice bespoke modern day hybrid classics they could might as well do their own in-house design reinforced / bonded aluminium alloys & composite monocoque chassis exclusive to the Speedback GT . . . the chassis would probably be 60% more stiffer & increased torsional rigidity . . . instead of opting for a unitary chassis from some donor vehicle & modified thereafter . . . one more thing the Speedback GT isn't worth the €650,000 price tag . . . it lacks originality . . . been looking for a Concours De Elegance restoration standard 1995 - 2000 Mercedes Benz S420 (W140) 3.8 I6 4-Dr Executive Sedan (RHD) for quite some time now . . .
