The design competition was his idea. The Mach V Mustang was the product of Ford wanting to replace the Mustang with a front wheel drive Mazda based car. That’s why there was no significant redesign for the Mustang from 1987 to 1993. It was supposed to be gone by 1990 replaced by the Probe (aka Mustang III).

...to come up with something new that doesn't look derivative of former ideas, require constant research & a talent of insight...not exactly an easy feat. The current people in the field walks on the path laid by innovators, visionaries, people gifted with unusual perspectives, Genuises who opened up doors to explore possibilities which the respective industries today operates on. To actually come up with something new means discovering what was not known to former people of talented vision. & That is very rare in probability terms. The answer rather lies in perfecting what's already there instead of looking for substitutes hoping to change the entire picture of existence.

I guess Art Center College of Design dropouts have to work somewhere. So many ill proportioned designs are giving me a headache.

if David Brown could built such nice bespoke modern day hybrid classics they could might as well do their own in-house design reinforced / bonded aluminium alloys & composite monocoque chassis exclusive to the Speedback GT . . . the chassis would probably be 60% more stiffer & increased torsional rigidity . . . instead of opting for a unitary chassis from some donor vehicle & modified thereafter . . . one more thing the Speedback GT isn't worth the €650,000 price tag . . . it lacks originality . . . been looking for a Concours De Elegance restoration standard 1995 - 2000 Mercedes Benz S420 (W140) 3.8 I6 4-Dr Executive Sedan (RHD) for quite some time now . . .
