My big brother started showing me how to play these riffs at age 10. He learned Kurt's riffs and we recorded our Nirvana covers on a tape recorder. He passed away 6 years ago. If it wasn't for Kurt Krist and my brother Tony I wouldn't be a musician.

What I like about nirvana is that the bass line often stands out. Usually basslines just follow the root notes of the guitar and you could play the song without bass. But from personal experience I can tell you that playing nirvana with only a drummer and a guitarist is very difficult

Nirvana's basslines are amazing. Krist did such an amazing job on every single one of them. I love Kurt and the guitar riffs. I love Dave and the drums. But krist often gets overshadowed

His bass playing philosophy was to "serve the song". Which he does masterfully. But he's not flashy. He just alternates down and upstrokes with a pick. Very simple and easily overlooked.
