In this video I practise wiring up the proximity sensors which I will use a limit switches on my CNC macihne. I will eventually have pairs for the X and Y axis wired in parallel and a single sensor for the Z. I plan to use two sensors on the X and Y axis so I can scan the margin and determine the available cutting distance between them. This may help me relocate bits white doing more complicated cutting jobs. That’s the idea anyway.

Savvas, many thanks for your videos. After watching Kyo and your vids, I have now placed my order with Hayri. I will be a few steps behind you (so that I can learn from your ups and downs). So please keep it up as I am keenly "educating" myself from your experiences. Thanks again. Andy

Kyo is great. And Hayri will be happy to know that! :) Good luck with the build.

Hi! I finally i found this kind of video. I am currently working for a project in my university. It involves this kind of controller. I need some help. Can I know the components you used here and can I see the schematic diagram if you still have it?

Hello Savvas, nice video demonstration ... I have a capacitive sensor for my Cnc but it lights up when I move the iron from the yellow nose or the head down to the Earth or when I touch the aluminum body. .I don't understand why it works "backwards" .... an idea would be welcome .... Thank you very much ... Philip

I watched the videos really well. ^^/ What is the controller board model name?

Hi Savvas, do you still have a schematic as to how you finally wired these sensors in parallel ? I wish to do the same, and have a pair on the Y & X axis. Happy to get through your Patreon.

I just double checked and they look like they are on the patron. It is literally a sketch on a piece of paper though under the title: Wiring N/O NPN Proximity Sensors In Parallel

I'd reduce those resistor something like a factor 10, such high impedance is just inviting problems with interference from stepper drivers and spindle

I read that the lower the voltage the more likely it would have problems with interference but would this still be the same if the resistors are right next to the control board? I need to read more into this. Thanks for the comment.

lowering both resistors in the divider the voltages stay the same, but with the lower resistance it is harder for interference to alter the signal. You still want the resistors to be close to the control board to minimize the low voltage wiring

It seems that when I had three proximity sensors connected the output dropped to around 3v on two of the dividers and one seemed to output nothing - but individually they worked as expected. Maybe I should run the sensors via relays?

there is no reason to use relays it should work. can you draw up how you have them connected?

Ok it is working now - I had made some mistakes with soldering the proximity sensors and will go over this in the next video. But I am still using 10k and 15k resistors. I was advised that what you mention would only be a problem if the limits switched at a very high rate. Problem solving electronics is a skill in it's own right that I haven't fully developed. :S
