Of course. It is impossible to defy the laws of physics. Any such feat simply demonstrates that our understanding of the laws of physics is flawed.
@zacharycollins94856 жыл бұрын
It seems that you definitely can't defy them, but maybe it's possible to bypass or circumvent the laws of physics. For example: the superposition of states in quantum mechanics and the theoretical Alcubierre warp drive. We've got to jailbreak some physics if we're ever gonna colonize another planet! Just a thought.

Basil John sometimes it behaves like a particle and sometimes it behaves like a wave, it can behave like a wave in how you would normally think of light, but at times it can behave like a particle in that I can have and transfer momentum, like the solar sails used on satellites use the momentum of light particles to move

I'm not going to go into a silly argument about how the English language works, for this will be my last comment. Defy, even when going by the definition of a synonym for "challenge" is inapplicable to the Laws of Physics because the Laws of Physics can never be challenged, as every speck of matter in the universe falls under their force and is controlled by the nature of these fundamentals. All objects in this video, rather then challenging the Laws of Physics, are instead being affected differently by them, and causing a surprising reaction that we as humans find extreme and different from other objects. This video should be titled "10 Objects Invented Just to Mess with our Minds" to be more accurate, and less misleading.

All of these inventions work because of explained physics phenomena (and some are outright cheating). The fact that they work simply adds to the evidence of these principles. To "defy" means to go against, to refute, to contradict something... Except none of these contradict the laws of physics, they reinforce them. If you were, however, to make a device that literally defied the laws of physics, then you would be breaking them. So, within semantics, anything that can literally defy physics will inadvertently break at least one law. So no, there's no case where defying does not also mean breaking any law of physics.
@jaroslavsvaha60656 жыл бұрын
Pass Datass Does the same apply to the phrase "Take the laws of physics and throw them out the window" ? Because that is used in the video as well.
@GodofAshes6 жыл бұрын
Look, you're objectively wrong. In this context, the suggestion is being made that "these objects were invented just to defy physics", which is wrong on several accounts. The biggest being that these devices exploit known physics phenomena to show, awe and confuse (in most cases, just confuse) If any of these devices were to literally defy the laws of physics, then amends need to be made to include this new phenomenon, effectively "breaking the laws of physics". There's no way to have a device defy physics and not also break it. Your suggestion that the invention of planes defy physics, even though they could be constructed only by the aid of physics. Ailerons and air resistance creates torque? oh no, only years of research figured that one out. Finally, about the idea of the "laws of physics". It's literally a compendium of well researched principles in physics, whose consistency is great enough to be called law. They are observations, not some unwritten rules. When contradictions are found to these rules, they are rewritten to include and explain this new phenomena. So no, it's not possible to defy without breaking, whether you consider them unwritten laws or the researched ones.

Till K - I think even black holes follow the laws of physics. They need a certain mass to exist, they bend light / space-time and so on. A certain subset of physical laws (i.e. the laws of thermodynamics, lightspeed and stuff regarding our universe) don't apply under black hole conditions and we can't monitor events happening inside a black hole. But that doesn't mean that black holes don't abide by (Sylvester Stalone voice) THE LAWWWWW.

Flying on a plane is not defying the laws of physics. In fact, you are using the laws of physics to overcome the force of gravity. The thumbnail shows someone holding a cube like cloud meant to make us wonder what it is. That item is called Aerogel the only reason it "break the laws of physics" is because it's outstanding use is not related to physics. This item is used to insulate an item and is very affective. This item has one very defining feature and that is that all of it's liquid content is replaced with gas. A very thin sheet of this item can protect a piece of chocolate for a blow torch right underneath it. The only difference is these guys made it EVEN MORE one-sided than it already was..... and it's a fucking stupid idea... why would someone want to shoot holes into their own shield? Organizations that use bullet-proof glass hide the non-combatant they need to protect behind it. They then put armed guards out and around it. There is hardly going to be a demand for glass like this, unless it somehow also prevents bullets being shot from its weak side form actually destroying the integrity of the bullet-proof glass.

You don't "defy" the Laws of Physics. You simply think you defy them when you don't understand them.
@kristianperez41086 жыл бұрын
If a physical law prevents you from doing something, and you do it anyway, you have essentially defied it, The law is still there, it just doesn't limit you, practically speaking,
@christianmorales89786 жыл бұрын
It doesn't work like that in physics. Nothing can go faster than light. That means nothing can go faster than light not just "oh you shouldn't go faster than light." It is literally impossible to break any of the laws of physics which is what makes them laws.
@kristianperez41086 жыл бұрын
+Christian Morales it's good that you mention the speed of light, cause it makes this easier, As something approaches the speed of light, its mass increases, Back in the day, this meant that humans could never even get close to the speed of light, not even 1% was within the realm of possibility, because objects would get too massive (relatively speaking) Of course, now we can accelerate protons to near light speed in particle accelerators, showing that we have gone passed that previous limitation, and we'll probably continue to do so, The closer we get something to the speed of light, the more we're defying this law that prevented us from even approaching it in the first place,
@christianmorales89786 жыл бұрын
kristian perez No we aren't propelling things to the speed of light yet and we never will. Traveling at the speed of light takes infinite mass or no mass at all. Traveling faster than the speed of light takes negative energy which we aren't made of. So we can't go faster than light but theoretically with negative energy we could which would mean we would be able to make wormholes and even travel back in time. The thing is that this is all theoretical and might not exist. If it does exist this still doesn't mean that matter and energy can't travel faster than light. Anything that carries information can't travel at light speed. You are right we are technically closer to defying this law since we can send things at higher velocities than ever before but this doesn't mean we will defy it or can defy it.

When I was serving in the military I test concept weapons such as assault rifles, where some performed so well I would have issued them right away. However, it the weapon was ever seized by the enemy either used against us or some how reversed engineered it would become a huge problem that might change the war completely. Another example is the idea that apple phones are built with a limited life, from 3-4 years, and are meant to degrade performance over time so you would be enticed to buy another one.

CaseNumber00 CaseNumber00 I'm not great at typing but stuff like this is amazing. planned obsolescence has been around for decades. An interesting read is 'Phoebus cartel' early 1920s light bulb manufacturers got together to ensure light bulbs only lasted a few years. Before their plans bulbs could go on for 30> years. An America fire station has a bulb going none stop for around a century. Luckily computers (none branded) missed such short sighted, money grabbing crap. The first rig I built is still going, nearly 10 years on Q6600 on some cheap main mono. Original everything. My first ever pc a hp celeron was still used a good 13 years after purchase, ram and had changed. My second pc a Scottish small brand Mesh was used 2003-2011. BTW didn't Apple undo their 'work'? After a court case? Not a fam boy but I dislikes apple for all they don't stand for. Over priced, badly made, form>function locked crap. Louis Rossman made a clip about how bad their laptops, bully tactics and ecosystem is. I guess being a informed consumer who's after the most for their hard earned, valued money doesn't fit into the apple user thinking.

If I pour in a white cold liquid that is not milk, the glass will reveal the word milk. If I pour cold piss into this glass it will tell you that it is beer.. This is basically a hoax. people use shit like this to get "development money" from unsuspecting investors all the time now that the internet is so prolific.

It's a hoax because the "inventor" wants us to believe the glass can sense what is being poured into it. It responds only to color and temperature....nothing else. I thought I made that point clear. The never spill mug probably has it's center of mass+weight distributed equally but heavily on the base's edges, making it extremely bottom heavy. The ice cream cooker is simply an extremely efficient flash cooker. The metal is hot but doesn't radiate heat, it is hot to the touch. When everyone demonstrating that it doesn't tip over are just poking or lightly smacking the cup, you know that any force above that threshold is going to overpower the suction device on the bottom.
