Honestly i love Bois du Portugal and it is one of my favorite Creed scents even though the top notes are very similar to classic Pierre Cardin but once the heart notes and the base notes hit you can definitely tell the difference, it is a very classic manly scent.

I now own both and they are both absolute bangers. I think you are right saying that NYI has a slightly more modern feel to it.. Beautiful fragrances!

I've been wearing Bois du Portugal for many years. I smelled a perfume last week on a friend and I asked him if he was wearing Bois du Portugal and he said he was wearing New York Intense by Nicolai. To my nose they smell very very similar.

Interesting tidbit, Nicolai also has 250 ml bottles (+15 ml travel spray). NY intense might be one of my favourite fragrances ever.

Received a 1ml sample of New York Intense and Naughton & Wilson Gravitas. Both similar and really really good. I've got Bois du Portugal and Lalique Pour Homme lion and I've got to get bottles of Gravitas and NYI.

Have just bought 100ml BdP in the last 2 days, and will continue to buy until the well runs dry. Will eventually have to try Royal Portugal though, as it’s pretty close by all counts. I’ve always wondered why fragrance houses discontinue popular lines though. I would have Green Valley any day over Green Irish Tweed! New York Intense smells like a room of matronly women after all their competing perfumes have mingled together and formed one scent. Which is to say, I find it leans older and feminine. To my nose it is actually closer to Guerlain Heritage than any other fragrance. By contrast, Bois du Portugal conjures up a range of emotions, from the refined dignity of being in an historic university library to the earthy sexuality of Errol Flynn on a high seas adventure.

I love new york intense as I love the slight warmth of the animalistic in the base beautiful and the lalique was my signature for quite a while it's amazing and for the money can't be beaten

Will definitely check out New York Intense.Bois du Portugal I don't quite like, it feels a bit dated to me (even though I am a fan of Dior Eau Sauvage, Givenchy Monsieur, Acqua Di Parma Colonia Assoluta), could be one or two notes that are missing in the Nikolai one.

Two great frags for sure. Not sure which one I like more but I've been really frugal with rhe BdP because I'd keep hearing about it being vaulted. Also i heard that pre 2010 BdP is even better than the current one. I would love to get my nose on it!

How is the sillage and longivity ?

This is not a beast mode fragrance. On my skin the longevity is about 5-6 hours and the projection is a little bit stronger than normal. To my nose the scent is fantastic - very similar to Guerlain Habit Rouge, which I also adore.

Interesting. I just ordered a ton of samples, including NYI. I just hope it isn´t drenched in ISO-E-Super like Ormonde Man, which I really like, but it gets totally blah after a couple of month in the flask.

@@MrSmelly1977 So....samples arrived and I went to town: Monsieur (Malle): Rather skanky in the dry down, but well balanced with great longevity. I like it, but may be a bit too young for it. 45+ I would suggest (8.5 out of 10). Bois d´Orage (Malle): Interesting wet-green midsection but after that not very imaginative. Rather annoying and artificial in the dry down (7.0 out of 10). Au Coeur du désert (Tauer): Always wanted a refined version of LDDM. The opening is more cheerful, mid is pretty much the same, dry down is more rounded (9.5 out of 10). New York Intense: It is good, but too close in structure to Paco Rabanne pH after 20 minutes in. The dry-down is 80% BdP, which is another relative to PRpH (8.5 out of 10). Altruist (J.F. Schwarzlose): A fruity clone of Sel Marin by Heeley. The opening is nice, but the rest is utterly forgettable (6.5 out of 10). Anti Anti (Atelier PMP): This one is interesting, but gets rather cloying with a mix of citrus fruit, hazelnut and burned plastic. Tons of ISO-E Super (7 out of 10). Drecking bleiben (Atelier PMP): A refined version of Encre Noire. Don´t know which of the two launched first though. Interesting, but again, ISO-E Super in buckets (7.5 out of 10). Korrigan (Lubin): As if a bottle of cognac and a bar of soap got downed into a bathtub full of heavy cream. Very silky. Tons of ISO, but still interesting (8.0 out of 10) Akkad (Lubin): I am pretty sure it is a blatant clone of Myrrhe Imperiale by Armani...or the other way around. Nothing to get crazy about (6.5 out of 10). Galaad (Lubin): Liked it at first, but it shares too many qualities with Akkad. Practically a smoothed down version of it. Meh. (7.0 out of 10)

Blind bought Lalique PH EDP cause of your video and really enjoy it. I got a tester for about $30. I occasionally layer it with ADG profumo and its a great combo

Now that I have both, I don't think these two are that similar: BDP has serious woody notes and more pronounced lavender (which gives it just a touch of sweetness), NYI has almost no wood (but lots of oakmoss) and much spicier and drier. Both are great but I don't find them as similar as, say, Montblanc Individuel vs Creed Original Santal.

Top end vid man! I Love nicolai new york, I’ve had a 100ml bottle for a few years now, I only paid about £100 for it on the nicolai website in about 2014, i might get new york intense when it’s finished, I prefer it over BDP just.

Bois du Portugal doesnt smell similar to NY intense to my nose more like the lalique but both are better smelling and performing then bdp for me ! I got A new 100 ml bdp maybe its the batch but 5 hours and the Creed is gone ! Ny intense Performance is beastly on me Like 10+ hours the lalique is like 8+ hours!

Have you tried any from the Miller Harris range? I have 3 or 4 that Im well pleased with. Names are escaping me. One has Tabac in the name, the others are Fille de this or that., or Vert de sonething or other. Manly stuff, bright and well blended all.
