The scorpion from CoD4 was game changing experience if you discovered it. I was pretty much only a hardcore player, as in I played HC mode, and what made me really fall in love with that thing was not the power but the fact it had no recoil. It was essentially a laser gun. I played professionally in those days and I never even used the silencer, I preferred the ACOG since it never bounced. There was one competition we played in and I got scolded for using the scorpion and I was very confused. Game battles apparently had some soft ban for using the scorpion with a silencer but not an ACOG. It was a weird loop, but I was never aware at the time the gun was so OP.

If anybody has played Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for N64, they may recall the hidden tunnel right at the beginning of the game which led to an auto shotgun on a ledge. It made it super easy to reach the level hub at the end and would easily be your go-to weapon for most of the game, but to find this before picking up the standard shotgun just down the path meant you never used it. Yeah graphics were junk back then, but this SPAS/Stryker that fed from your ammo supply without ever reloading was badass AF back in the day. I'm surprised they DIDN'T remove it.

I guess people don't remember the Farsight from the original Perfect Dark. The sniper rifle that could shoot through anything (even across the whole level) one shot players, and had a built in X-ray tracking scope. You couldn't run or hide. All you could was hope they ran out of ammo, you spawned almost on top of them or catch them while they honed in on another player.

I remember 343i changing the way the Binary Rifle worked to a prethought design because they felt that a gun that can disintegrate your enemy no matter where you shot them at the cost of literally broadcasting your location like the only open shop on a road at night was too overpowered...so they turned it into a repeating laser rifle. It honestly sucks now, and I say that as someone who rarely even used it. Like, you give us a faction that uses extreme hardlight ammunition, how were you expecting that to be balanced?

The gun in the thumbnail is the Krig 6 from Warzone/Black Ops. It has never been over powered. I love the gun, it has a great sound to it, and I have a real soft spot for it, but it's not great, unfortunately. Having this in the list is beyond a stretch, so I don't get its inclusion here. It was removed for a couple of days as it was bugged and the blueprint was set to the wrong barrel. It does deserves a buff though, I reckon.

From what I remember, the sawn off shotgun didn't have more range to one shot enemies. In fact it had shorter one shot range. It had a much wider 1 shot arc at closer range than the gnasher, thus making it more forgiving at point blank, but since the arc was wider, it lost a lot more range. I still remember most people running the gnasher, since it had more range, ammo, and versatility.

The AWP no scope was an issue that accured during the 1.6 version CS. People used gum on their screen or clear-tape and dotted a mark on it. That time the AWP was so strong that you could take out up to 3-4 people with 1 shot. The best PvP combo during that time was the AWP, Deagle, Flashbang and a grenade.

The nail gun from Fallout 3. An unassuming gun, but stupidly OP because of its ability to easily cripple limbs. Have a really fast, tanky enemy like a Deathclaw or Super Mutant running at you? Shoot it with the nail gun. Now its leg is crippled and it can only walk at a snails pace. It makes big scary enemies stupidly easy to deal with. Unsurprisingly, it didn't return in Fallout 4

So the AWP from the Counter-Strike series has pretty significant recoil / poor accuracy when not scoping or hip-firing. I have played Counter Strike since 1.3, so around 20 years. In 1.3-1.5, the standing still accuracy cone around where your crosshair would be is about the size of a quarter. Running around and just blindly shooting the shot could land anywhere on screen. Now they is where noscope flick shotting comes in and creates a glitch that brings that accuracy cone back down to almost center. Source was almost the same. The standing still hip fire cone was more the size of a half dollar and the no scope flickshots cone about the size of a quarter. As for GO, there is so much RNG involved that its near impossible to identify actually recoil and bullet patterns compared to the rest of the series. Worst CS game ever imo.

A bunch of the Pinnacle weapons from Destiny 2 (mountaintop, The Recluse, Luna's Howl/Not Forgotten) these things were incredibly strong in PvP modes, and also fairly strong in PvE. Entire seasons worth of guns and armor where vaulted just to get rid of these guns. And while you can still pull them from the collections tab or equip it from your storage vault, they cant be infused above a certain power making them next to useless for PvE and Competitive PvP

AWP in the original counterstrike 1.6 had random accuracy while unzoomed, did have a crosshair and you could reliably get an accurate shot with it if you jerked the gun to the side and your timing was good. it only did 66 damage to legs though

im beginning to think game devs think the scorpion is a pistol. everytime you see it in games, it has its stock, in the folded position. The thin bars that come over the muzzle & loop under it are the stock, its meant to be folded up, & out to the rear so it limits recoil, but you never seem to see it unfolded

Miniguns are the single example of guns that are OP in real life, and are nerfed in every game. Once that mounted gun in any vehicle is going, it will make an absolute mess of whatever is in front of it. It has a 5 mile range, explosive rounds, and shoots at 4200 rpm.

If I remember correctly, the M6D in Halo CE was busted because it was coded to be strong in campaign. It was supposed to have different, balanced stats for multiplayer, but due to the programmer fuck up, the pistol kept its campaign stats in multiplayer

In apex legends, there was a bug with the sentinel which made it shoot crazy fast and respawn had to completely remove the gun from the game for some days in order to fix it.

It wasn't an online game, but this one specific gun always struck me as stupid overpowered in a game and franchise chock-full of silly guns. Ratchet And Clank 3 Up Your Arsenal, the rift inducer/ripper. Guns had like five levels of upgrading in normal mode in uya, so that's five times this gun would become even better than it already was and boy... It was already pretty damn sweet. Basically you lanched a black hole that would just sit there and gobble up any enemies that got close enough. If you were surrounded by swarmers, it was pretty easy to just stick a hole in the middle of the room and just stand in it; enemies would run at you, and get eaten by the rift, and it was funny as hell. Then at level three, I think, the gun got a shock mod, which meant that if an enemy was too big for the holes to one shot, it would still electrocute them and wear them down; once their health bar was low enough, they'd get hoovered up and you could go about your day. At level five, shooting two holes in close proximity to each other caused them to merge, and they'd become one bigger, more damaging hole. I don't know if it's widely recognized as silly OP, but I always thought it was.

well actually the flintknock was removed after a week because it was special event week where they would bring back old weapons and such for only a week. i mean if you look at the bows they came back for a week and that was it.

Kinda a removed weapon, but from Roblox: Crescendo the soul stealer, and scroll of sevenless: These were both the best weapons in the game at the time: Crescendo being the best overall gear and best melee gear due to it being impossible to approach due to its unavoidable E ability that tracks and instakills and never respawns, it keeps accelerating as well meaning even sunset bugs couldn’t’t evade it. And scroll of sevenless having ridiculous frame data invalidating all kits below catalog heaven warrior (2nd best kit in the game), basically it’s like they removed it due to game updates breaking the scripts of the gear. However they did get remade, crescendo is still godlike and still remains the best melee gear in the game, and scroll of sevenless got a change where it’s has insane range with same frame data but it’s cooldown increased from 1 --> 3, still the best ranged gear in Roblox. However they appear less at least.

Cod no doubt has the most op weapons of all time. Y’all remember the Bruen mk9 lmg in war zone? Aka the most op lmg sniper Assult rifle in the game. No recoil, high ammo, accuracy, fire rate, damage, and range. It was ridiculous. Same with grau 5.56 and the dmr 14. Dmr 14 was a 2 shot kill. That gun reminded me of battle field 5 ZH29 which btw is still op to this day

weapon bron in right hands the shotgun-revolver from CoD:Black Ops 2 with only extended barrel (i think it was focusing the bullets) which made that you could one shot in body players from medium range while if you used this pistol with additional DMG ammo modifier (FMJ) couldn't one shot from same distance which i think now was a bug that gun with one modifier was stronger than with two modifiers
