Holy hell!! Simon just DXed a rash I had last year. I was cleaning up a black walnut tree and all the old walnut pieces. I had arms full of the black walnut debris and I later broke out with tons of blisters all over my arms and I was coughing and felt sick. -- The Dr said I must have gotten into poison ivy but I've never been allergic to poison ivy. -- I bet it was the black walnut tree.

Just because you were "allergic" to it before every encounter with it increases the chance of being affected by it. Saw my boyscouts master who yearly would pick fresh ivy and rub it on his face well what do u know science is right 12th year of doing it he had his whole right cheek blister and had to go to hospital to drain it. I'm size of an orange on his cheek.

I grew up in an area where black walnut trees were numerous, and we had them in my yard as a child. People would collect them and turn them in for money. I think I remember people getting rashes from handling them, although I definitely threw plenty of cracked ones as a kid without harm. I don't recall anyone in my area ever dying or becoming ill, but we knew they were toxic. Can still smell the acrid odor of our lawn filled with fallen green and black pods.

We had a 100' tall black walnut when I was younger. The husks would often grow a bit bigger than a baseball, and caused many dents and a couple cracked windows on our vehicles. Come fall the husks stunk so bad and there was so much of that black gunk we had to shovel the fallings and power wash the area under it daily.

5:32 ".. sometimes occurring in the middle of a conversation..." Just curious... what was the conversation about? Maybe the topic caused heart failure. I will paint the picture, just close your eyes (yes, while you're reading!)& use your imagination: Young woman: hey, dad.. I'm pregnant. Again. Father: well, it's not mine. Right? Young woman: it might be. Mother, from next room: call an ambulance! I'm having a heart attack!
