Theres an old graveyard (1800s) on my familys land. Long been forgotten. One day me and my uncle took a look at the handful of headstones and there were two facing each other about 20 feet apart. The weird thing is: Both had the exact same name, both born on the exact same day, both died on the exact same day except exactly 20 years apart. Still haven't figured that one out.

Go to your county or township archives and try to find the land deeds, obituaries, and birth records. They would be public by now since they are over 100 years old, it just depends on how well records were kept in your region at that time.

It was very common for families to reuse names if they lost a baby/child. Five generations back in my family tree one of my 2xgreat grandmothers had recycled two names. There were three Alexandras and two Katerinas. She lost many children. Every time she lost a child she'd use the name again. I can't say I'd use a name a third time if I lost two who had that name. I'd probably think the name was cursed. But then again this was when parents could only use church-approved names.

On the Brandon/Bruce Lee bit about not aiming blanks at people: it isn't just the wadding/paper that can hurt or even kill, but the escaping gases. In the Marines we were taught that the focused high pressure jet of expanding gas coming out of the barrel is still potentially lethal within a certain distance. I've don't recall ever seeing it in practice, but I have seen the destructive forces of the gas from muzzle flash when firing actual live rounds, Demolition Ranch has a video illustrating this, and it's not something to be taken lightly, those gases are powerful.

Also, as bad as it is to live in Wilmington, N.C., it's worse to work there, there's a reason why films are simply, not, filmed in the U.S. when avoidable.

Yeah in theatre when you are taking weapon effects and/or pyro courses you are taught in black and white terms never have actors stand in line when firing a blank on set and to off set them and use lighting, forced perspective, quick movement, etc to make it look like they were lined up to the audience. The main concern is less that the shock wave from the pressurized gases will do harm and more the potential there could be some form of hot and highly accelerated shrapnel from unknown debris that could still do a lot of damage to someone hit by it from burns to killing them. You also learn minimum safety distances based on each charge of pyro you use and its force.

My favourite weird coincidence is the case in the US where a man was arrested for murder, but when he came to the prison the processing guard knew he had seen him before. The man was called Will West. The guard even showed him a picture to which West said, that is me but I don't know where you got this, because I've never been here before. It turned out that 2 years earlier, a man called William West had been arrested and they look exactly the same. This led to the introduction of fingerprinting as it showed the flaws in the previous method named after Bertillon. The fingerprinting technique was pioneered by Scotland Yard three years earlier and was adopted by the US after this case.

July 4th in the U.S. is Independence Day, a pretty major holiday. My birthday is July 5th. My younger brother's birthday is December 24th, the day before Christmas. Kinda co-incidental (?) My brother always got a full- blown birthday party on the 24th, and the usual Christmas presents and etc. the next day. When I grew older, I learned that I couldn't hold big birthday "bashes" on my birthday, July 5th, because all of my friends were hung over from partying on the 4th. So I schedule my cookouts etc. for the first weekend after the 4th.

Coincidences like this are often just a result of News outlets focusing on strange irony to better sell the story and gain reader/public interest. For example a friend of mine that died in a car crash when she was 16 was wearing a shirt that said "Love Life" she had made and the local media chose that to focus on to generate chatter around the accident and her death which did turn the public's attention in the end to what was actually a combined result of reckless driving (she was a passenger) and poor maintenance of the roadway leading to her death, and resulted in some serious changes that have helped a lot on that roadway. But in terms of the shirt and for those of us that knew her knew it was her favorite personal slogan and she had a lot of clothes she made herself with "Love Life" written on them so there was nothing really "supernatural" at play there since there was a very high probability she would have worn something with "Love Life" on it.

There's also the story of Tsutomu Yamaguchi, a man who survived the Hiroshima nuclear bomb, then returned with two colleagues to their home town. Nagasaki. He survived that too (as did his wife and baby). and died aged 93 in 2010. His two colleagues also survived. It is thought about 165 people survived both explosions.

The show Unsolved Mysteries covered the church explosion. There's a coincidence around another song: My Prerogative. Both Bobby Brown and Britney Spears recorded the song. Both had troubled personal lives following this act. Strange? Yes. Coincidence? Absolutely.

There's a thing called the birthday paradox that says once you have 23 people in a room, it becomes more likely than not that they share the same birthday. And I guess twice as likely if we're including deathdays. There's easily more than 12 famous physicists. While not historically significant, the most astonishing one I've personally experienced was this: I lost my beloved golden retriever, Bailey, on September 7th, 2012 at 4:57pm. I found another pup, Ruby, to share my life with shortly after. I lost Ruby nine years later *to the very minute* on September 7th, 2021 at 4:57pm. I definitely have some anxiety, albeit irrational, about the date now. 😶

Losing her so suddenly, especially after spending $2300 on emergency surgery six months earlier to save her life, just made it even harder. I never did get the opportunity to have children of my own thanks to needing a radical hysterectomy, so my dogs are very much my babies ☺️

My family are the decadents of JWB, tons of research has been poured into it, he survived. Long story short the men hunting him shot up a barn on the Garret family ranch and then burned it down, however no bullets hit him and was dragged out by the youngest daughter of the Garrets (20 y/o at the time and who he later married). we have a photograph passed down through the generations of him on his true death bed at the age of 74. It’s a darker side of our family history but no one’s told me about Edwin before so that’s nice to learn
