I'm a native Arabic speaker but I'm planning on taking my Arabic to the next level and study it properly, memorize what I can of the Quran & Hadith, memorize Arabic poetry, and so on. I love this language!

It’s important to keep in mind Dua (supplicating to Allah) even if it’s the last third of the night. Seek the help of Allah to allow you to accomplish this task and make it easy for you. Tips for being proficient in Arabic language: 1. Motivation- if you don’t have a good reason to learn a language or anything you’re less likely to stay motivated in the long run. Motivation gets you going, consistency keeps you going. 2. Carry a notepad/notebook with you, essential to write down every new word you encounter/hear/don’t understand. 3. Speak the language at all costs, it is major principle when learning a new language. You have to practice the language even if you speak to a wall or pillow, or even a child. Speak it! 4. Go to where the language is spoken. Doesn’t even have to be going overseas. You can go to a place or people who speak the language and discuss with them. For example, going to the masjid and conversing with people who are fluent in Arabic. 5. Translate any passage you come across, along with writing it. 6. Getting a dictionary (online dictionary are useful as well), more you look up a word the more it will stick 7. Learn vocabulary in context, words that reoccur in certain fields/places/sciences. 8. Find a partner to practice with. A healthy rivalry/competition towards good will be beneficial. 9. Willingness to make mistake. Be prepared to be humbled, you will make mistakes, this is the only way to develop and improve. Don’t be prideful, you may even have to sit around little children to gain more knowledge. 10. Listen to the language. You need to learn to listen before you can learn to speak. The more you expose yourself and listen to the language, the more familiar it becomes making it easier to speak and comprehend. For example, you can listen to Arabic lectures to familiarize yourself to the language.

It’s very difficult even Arabs make mistakes sometimes speaking or pronouncing, one of the best ways especially since you have learned for 10 years, is Arabic shows or Arabic content with English subtitles, sooner or later you will find yourself understanding and not looking to the subtitles for clarification etc. also if your learning Egyptian Arabic it’s hard to understand Classical Arabic (Fusha) best Arabic I feel for people to understand Quran and stuff is khaleeji dialect it’s closest I feel to Classical Arabic as compared to all the other Arabic dialects, however just learn classical and you will be strong in Arabic fundamentally. Conversations help a lot also, I feel you can’t just learn a language from a book there is a way to speak it and you only learn that from experiencing it in everyday life. Like living in the west when you go get shawarma try order it in Arabic etc

The biggest lie is that all who seek knowledge of Qur'an are obligated to learn Arabic. If a aging revert female lives alone in a rural area and NO PERSON in her small community speaks Arabic, is she not lucky to just get the pleasure of learning the MEANINGS of the practice as time allows? Have some mercy on the lonely.
