So many video games, so little time! i've never heard of Kirby's All Stars, thought that was just a Mario thing. Weird how i should know this, but didn't hear of it until now. My list of games that i will never play are...SNES "Mario Paint" (Not a game in my opinion) & "Sim City" on the SNES. i play video games to escape reality not pretend to go into a simulator! Also on the top 25 most sold SNES video games is "Pilot Wings" will have to look into that one in the near future. What's the fun if you played every video game ever, always great to look forward to something new!
@FortefyreАй бұрын
Absolutely! So many people ask why I endure so many horrible games, because people ignore them. I know the old saying goes "history is written by the winner" but when it comes to gaming history, I WANT to see the losers. Sim city 2000 an onward is much better. The original is just a tile simulator lol. The perspective kind of changes once you see fully rendered cities and it makes sense.

Secret of Evermore was always overshadowed by Chrono Trigger on SNES,but it was unique on it's own and was fun even though the alchemy system was a bit confusing at times. If you when around and looked you'd find all the material you'd need for each level.

Trust me, you should consider breaking your rule for Earthbound, Mother is worth playing for the history, but it’s definitely skippable, it doesn’t really hold up.
@FortefyreАй бұрын
I knowwwwwwwwwww
@davidfitzgerald4748Ай бұрын
To add to this, I’m a lot like you Fortefyre, I typically play games in order released. Should you give Mother a try, I would recommend playing it with via emulation, with the patch that increases XP. My friend recommended I did this; I didn’t and ended up severely regretting my decision. This game is a grind fest and it really fuck up the pacing, especially as you inch towards the end.
@InnocentSoul0283Ай бұрын
If you play Mother 1, I would recommend playing the GBA Mother 1+2 version with Tomato English patch, it will make the grinding less of an issue due to the doubled experience rate and money from the Easy Ring, cause the first game is grindy otherwise. Plus there are other QoL improvements.

@davidfitzgerald4748Ай бұрын
I also had heard of Wild Arms across the years. When Reloaded came out, I finally gave it a go. It wasn’t bad, it was fine. But I think the legendary rarity/price has elevated it to a height it honestly doesn’t deserve. I’d still say it’s worth a try, but taper expectations. On the flip side, Super Metroid is absolutely worth the hype. And I would argue that playing the first two games beforehand will only serve to enrich the experience of SM, as you will further appreciate the lore, environments and improved gameplay.
@FortefyreАй бұрын
And that's such a common trend for certain games. I wish we had early 2000s prices.

Super Punch Out took several boxers from the arcade counterparts. Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, and Mr. Sandman were taken from the arcade Punch Out. Bear Hugger, Dragon Chan, and Super Macho Man were taken from the arcade Super Punch Out. Odd fact: Mr. Sandman weighed over 300 pounds in the arcade version of Punch Out, while in Mike Tyson’s Punch Out he was down to 284 pounds, and the Super NES version he trimmed down to 230 pounds! 😮

It was not a bad list. I will only comment on the games I know well. Kirby Superstar - It is a fun compilation of games and worth playing. Secret of Evermore - If you play through the entire game it is a decent game at best. My problems with this game mostly center around the controls. Getting the dog to dog where you want him to dig is a lot more difficult than you would think it would be and this makes the game more difficult than fun. Sometimes finding the ingredients you need to make a certain thing can be a pain to. Earthbound - This is an absolutely awesome must play JRPG for the SNES. Megaman X - This is a somewhat difficult platformer. It's not a terrible game but it is outshined by many other better platformers on the SNES. Super Metroid. This game is a timeless masterpiece of the SNES. I make at least a few full playthroughs of this game each year. It is one of my all-time favorite video games.
@FortefyreАй бұрын
Thank you for this breakdown, I appreciate it! It definitely taught me some things. I dreaded the AI in Secret of Mana bleeding over to Evermore, sounds like that concern is valid.

Sunsetriders also changed the name of Chief Scalpem to Chief Wigwam, and shortened his voice clip of “Me get ready for powwow!” by editing out the “Me”. The stage 5 boss also had his greeting altered to having his death quote doubled as greeting and end with “Adios, amigo!” Originally he greets you with, “Die, gringo!” Oh, and all of the prostitutes are removed from the game as well. Beyond all of that, it’s an excellent arcade port.

some excellent picks worth trying! my thoughts on some of them: area 88/un squadron I've had my eye on for a while I rented it back in the day it was a super fun shmup! one I really need to track down on SNES or the original Japanese version, don't think the language barrier would be that big a deal? sunset riders was another great game! I do have it on arcade archives on switch already, but would recommend the SNES port if you'd rather own it physically. nothing beats wild west contra, that's for sure. megaman x I liked, although you have to do all of sigma without passwords, which I found annoying! the recent compilation doesn't even have savestates! so maybe someday I'll go back to it and finish it once and for all. Super Metroid I didn't finish til its NSO appearance. I liked it well enough though I might have to track down the SNES original for an actual attempt.

Super Punch Out is superior to the original in every way. I remember getting my mom to drive all over town to find a copy to rent. It took about an hour and a half to find a Blockbuster that actually had one in stock. I had gotten hyped for it by reading about it in Nintendo Power, where I also turned all the opponent’s faces into Pogs. I ended up beating it in about 2 days.

Cormano and Billy were the only characters in the genesis version. Ton of levels and bosses missing as well. Not really sure why Konami had to gimp it that much on the genesis. Their other offerings were bangers. CV bloodlines, Contra HC, so on and so forth.

I really have to warn you about Mega Man X... Everyone is going to tell you how amazing the music is, and the SNES sound chip really makes it underwhelming and everything sounds like BWAAAHHHH BWAAAHHHH BWAAAHHHHHHHH because Super Nintendo can't emulate the sound of a guitar. If you are able, I highly recommend using a flash cart to play a version with real guitar music or even the Sega Genesis music version. I was really excited to play Mega Man X the first time and really couldn't get into it and I didn't understand why. Then when I played it with modern sounding music, I absolutely adored it. Maybe I'm just more into music than the average person but I think It really adds to the experience. The songs themselves are written so well and they're so catchy that it's such a shame that the sound fonts aren't very good.

Even if they did it in a lame way, I was pretty happy they released the original Fire Emblem for a limited time because now I feel like I can play any game in the series I want.
