I like thinning my glue. I find Barge ( the brand I use) a bit thick. I add a cap or 2 or acetone to thin it am out a little. I also like using a small jar with lid to put a working amount in. I can do usually 2 pairs of boots with 1-2 once of glue. I try not hammering so hard I go to far in to my poly board. If it's not to deep after a while I can use my heathen on low to fill in the holes then sand it flare with an orbital sander. I use 60 grit the 80. Then hold the heathen over it back Acworth a few minutes and that will close all the scratches over.

The basic set (silver one) - what's the spacing on that one?

Hi. The basic set of chisels shown (in the leather case) has a 4mm spacing.

Hello Geordie, I saw this Chinese roller online, but it looks like it has streaks - thread on the roller, does yours? ... and thank you for all your good advice!

Hi. It's best to use a roller that has a smooth surface for leather. There are some on my web store here: geordieleather.com/collections/tools/products/leather-metal-rollers

You would get less vibration with your hammering if you used a granite slab under your kitchen cutting board.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. This is quite an old video. I use a quartz slab in most of my more recent videos.

I hate that contact cement. After dipping brush/applicator into pot it always leaves trailing bits of glue which are almost impossible to get rid of. You cannot remove brush from pot without about 10 feet of stringy glue following you!!! PVA glues are miles better. In my opinion!! Thanks for posting. Useful tips. Cheers.
