@@christinebaukus8281 because BTS were already growing globally in popularity and becoming a huge name they created their own variety shows, content, and documentaries within the company, in a controlled environment. This protected the members from harmful and damaging portrayal that KMedia could potentially cause. Unfortunately, it has happened to Jungkook in their early years.

The fact, as you say, that the members want to be together and all speak with such excitement about gathering again in 2025, even when they each have enormous individual success, speaks volumes for them, for their relationship with each other and for their devotion to ARMY. Yet, I eagerly await his reunion with his 6 brothers in 2025 as one group, BTS!!!!!! I see 7-1=0, yet I also can not wait for Suga's solo album as Agust D in 2025, Jin's solo album release in early 2025. I loved the solo album releases of each member: Tae's Layover, JHope's album JITB: Hope Edition, Jimin's Face and Muse, and RM's RPWP!!!! Kmedia are upset that they can't control BTS like they have been able to with every other Kpop idol/group. They weren't part of BTS's rise to fame and popularity, and don't contribute to sustaining BTS's success or future. K-media cannot claim any part of the success of the biggest current global group in the world. Instead, BTS proved that success is not determined by the big K-media companies, rather good music, hard work, a good work ethic, and a strong dedicated fanbase cultivated with mutual respect.
@ystrw
@ystrw Ай бұрын
All that, and K-media didn't get their cut of the profits, either. That played a big part in why Hitman Bang guided the guys to the internet and started up the RUN episodes; the company couldn't afford to pay for media exposure and slots on variety and music shows. And they act like media exposure is what makes the idols successful, but if it doesn't work and the idol group flops or disbands, they don't care. They got their fee from that group; next!

@Cat-Tiger-Taegi-Cult I think things happened because it was meant to happena Fate and Destiny. It was a blessing in disguise when Dynamite and Butter came out and they exploded literally and figuratively. When it was designed by Destiny you can't argue or stop it from happening.
@ystrw
@ystrw Ай бұрын
I felt like he was being rough on himself and them when he said that; they admit outright that they simply didn't expect Dynamite and Butter to blow up like they did. Dynamite was supposed to be an ARMY comfort song, and apparently Butter was in a similar nature, doing something fun that was offered them between albums. So saying, 'We didn't think it over well' seems a little harsh. I have a suspicion that what they thought about at the time was whether releasing songs in English would have a *negative* effect- 'They're getting too Westernized, they're abandoning their heritage, they did a bad job with that.' They're humble guys and it wouldn't occur to them to think, 'Oh, maybe this'll be a phenomenal global success that will catapult us right out of K-Pop altogether!'

Not only our their songs and talent excellent, but they are not afraid to buck industry standards and make songs over 3 min. long and guess what, it worked! Their MV are movies, and yet their live videos are every bit as good both in performance and vocals! Their concerts are top tier, and their ARMY joins in and becomes a part of the show. The only others that do that presently are Taylor Swift, and Coldplay! The way they shared their lives from the beginning, their hard work, their joy, the pain of being bullied and watching them work through it, the message, excellent lyrics, and maybe even not the most important, their performance art and legendary charisma, these are the reasons ARMY is so strong, and BTS is strong because of ARMY. I think the duality between the entertainment companies and the same companies owning the K pop media has shown through all of this to be at the root of K -pop celebrity scandal. Also Korea's ridiculously high Idol standards are hurting the industry. Putting too much value on skin tone, facial perfection, and skin and bone artists is not only unreasonable, but unhealthy in the extreme. Koreans, like every other race, have beautiful people and those not as beautiful and to judge people by these standards does a disservice to both Koreans in general, and the K=pop industry as a whole IMHO. Not to mention severely unhealthy both physically and mentally. BTS understands this, does not promote it, and is so supportive of all good humans. Don't believe me, that's ok, but maybe you can judge by the wonderful humans that support them I have had first hand connections with members of their ARMY in several unexpected places and have always been greeted with kindness, hugs, and tolerance for a 70 yr old white woman who is a bit round, has age spots, only speaks English, and wears no make-up any longer, LOL. In fact I would say I love ARMY's as much as I love the boys, who can say that about any fandom! BTS doesn't need rigged awards to prove their talent, they have a super global fan base of good humans. And YOU, beautiful lady, are one of them. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜

I totally agree with your summation. One of the things I like about BTS is the array of genres they cover. At 72 yrs I had never liked Rap, yet my children all did, yet now I love it, mainly BTS Rap but also some other artists as well. They opened my ears to different music. I love the fact that their solo work are all so different, both vocals and rap line. How great is it to get such a variety. The most important factor though is who they are as people and how much of themselves they allow us to see. The love and friendship between them is amazing as is their love for humanity. Their philanthropy and how they bring awareness to the various causes I have never witnessed in over 60 yrs of listening to music and watching artists. They are seven amazing young men who I wish every happiness for as they deserve it. I think the Korean netizens and media and even the other agencies have now seen that as BTS said they have Army behind them. Army is also not just young teenagers but all ages, cultures and professions and stages in life and that I think is another phenomena that I have never seen in 60 years, even with the Beatles. I think that a lot of people who don’t bother to look deeply into their music see them as nothing but a really popular idol group. What everyone is missing is that their level of artistry is unmatched in the popular music industry and that appeals to a more educated audience who becomes very invested in seeing them succeed because they’re proving that the genre can be elevated to this level. K-pop companies think it’s just the marketing without realizing you need substance in order to maintain the momentum once the marketing reaches the audience. I don’t need any marketing from bighit to be extremely curious about everything the boys put out because I know it will be intelligent, well thought out and released with purpose.
@ystrw
@ystrw Ай бұрын
Substance, that's it. Boracity said much the same thing: idol groups are about the flashy show they can put on. The visuals, the effects, the choreo, the catchy lyrics- the show. And she said, there's nothing wrong with that, but with BTS it's different. They can put on as good a show as anyone else- better, in some cases- but when you take away the flash and the catchy and just line them up to sing or rap, they still kill it. Great vocals, great rap, great dance, great lyrics, interesting ideas, fantastic wordplay and meaningful messaged. They're so *articulate* through their music.

Actually, K-media haven't benefited nearly as much from BTS as they have from other idol groups. That's part of why they resent BTS so much. Typically, the way to success for an idol group is to pay large amounts of money to get TV/radio interviews and show slots. That's part of why the Big Three, who had the funds to buy up lots of slots, kept dominating the industry. Hitman Bang stopped sending the guys to variety and music shows and other media events. The company couldn't afford it, and he didn't like how the boys were treated. So they got on the internet and made their own variety show- RUN BTS- and stopped trying to get their exposure 'the usual way'. K-media lost out on a lot of income when BTS started to get big by themselves, and they still resent it.

I've read the fine will be $10k. I'm not sure if that is correct, but if so... While Suga can well afford that and the 88000% increase in sales means we have paid it for him already.... That is ridiculous!!! I understand that some say that it needs to be higher when it's a person such as an idol who is "rich". That seems rather discriminatory. Usually there are legal guidelines for fines such as this that sets a minimum and maximum. I have to wonder if ANYONE has ever paid that much for galling off a scooter due to a sharp turn. It's crazy.

Thank God for International ARMYs. It seems like if it were left up to K-netizens, Suga would have been destroyed. I don’t believe in “You don’t understand our laws.” “You don’t understand the problems we have with scooters” “You don’t understand how serious a DUI is.” What we don’t understand is how bullying and humiliating someone is allowed to go as far as it did without any pushback. I’ll repeat thank God for International ARMYs (and those K-ARMY who supported Suga).

SKZ were being disrespectful and not watching it and fooling around laughing apparently in bad and mocking imitation of Suga! I posted that as an Army, I was disheartened by their actions and if true it was sad to view! Well, a Stray responded this was actually from a video SKZ had posted elsewhere! I replied that WE needed to stand together and report this video en masse as false!!! Well, within 24 hours the video was removed from the Internet. Mereka berusaha mencari the next Bts tapi tetep aja "jauh panggang dari api". Yg bisa melampaui Bts ya Bts itu sendiri. Aku bukan penggemar kpop , aku cuma tau Bts , aku tidak mengenal grup selain Bts, dan aku emang ga bisa pindah ke lain hati...😊😊😊. Trims atas ulasannya JENG.🙏✌️

Would have clicked a thumbs up on your comments if you hadn’t said “get a girl”. I think many fans, including me, think that they should have love with whomever they choose. Plus in many, many places around the world kids are possible to any loving couple. South Korea has more conservative rules concerning adoption, surrogacy, etc. so maybe they will choose to leave Korea to get the personal life they want for themselves! It would be a shame for Korea to push them away.

BTS never had any help from the K Media or any other 'agency', other Korean artists/celebrities included but they all wanna be in their circle now. 🙄 They were alone and picked on when they went on other shows. I will never forget the hurt in JK's eyes when those guys refused his genuine offer of food.. grown men trying to belittle a child. I could go on but we all know the story of them making their own way and lighting the path so that others and their ever growing ARMY could follow. I get choked up thinking about their struggle & where they are now. I am still learning more and more as time goes by. I have never been part of a fandom or cared enough about a group like I have with BTS. That's not to say I haven't enjoyed some of their music etc but never like I love BTS. They are good humans first, brothers, artists, and let's not forget wonderfully chaotic. I could ramble on but I won't xD I so much appreciate your educated perspective on things. Most kpop companies want quick hits and streams then debut 20 new groups in search of more new shiny hits instead of being patient, taking risks, and consistent building of idol careers over the years. Most idols are just products, easily replaced unfortunately. Currently GGs are only focused on looks and tiktok trending fast instead of actual art of music..they have almost no longevity

I haven't finished the video yet, but the huge amount of non music related content being released by other groups, and involvement in fashion has not and does not translate to gaining more fans. All it means is that there is more content out there by people many of us still aren't interested in lol. More exposure without anything to promote, is so pointless. It's ok for idols, because being models and influencers in many cases IS the product. But there are still some groups (including BTS), which use exposure to promote their music, and as a means to show their creativity. Not just to be a mannequin, or to be "seen" in the presence of others who are more successful. I wasn't gonna name names, but I can't bite my tongue any longer lol. But it seems like I mostly see Blackpink's name, when they are being linked to someone more famous to the general public (like in photos or dating rumors). But almost never when it comes to their music, or some other thing they are producing (like art, photography, editing, choreography). What do these people CREATE on a consistent basis? It's ok, not everyone needs to be an artist, but it just shows the difference between an idol and artist, or an idol who is/is not also an artist and creator.

As for Today's content it is now demonstrated to every sceptical or dilusional person wherever they live on this globe that BTS and ARMY are a community based on mutual love and respect. I think this whole phenomenon is unheard of and for many difficult to comprehend. How ARMY all over the world organises walks, purple illuminations, charting songs, expressing their love and suppprt for Yoongi and the boys...all this is just magnificent. And I am so happy to be part of it.

Curious to understand how foreign charts changed the rules to alienate kpop groups? I'm guessing the amount of sales no longer carries the same weight. Can someone explain? Thanks!
@michellem6826
@michellem6826 Ай бұрын
I can talk about Billboard. Billboard has sales, radio play and streaming that count towards the charts. When ARMY learned this and started buying more, then Billboard started decreasing the value of sales and changed the rules constantly. Such as you can only buy 4 of the same downloads from the account to count in a week instead of unlimited. Then it changed to one download a week per account. Next, changes were made on where you could buy the albums from to count for the charts. ARMY started streaming more and learning how to stream. Each streaming platform is different and you have to get people that have IP addresses in the country to stream. ARMY got fan clubs in the country and raise money to buy and stream. The hardest thing to break into in the U.S. is radio play. Many U.S. radio stations will not play non English songs or English songs from non English speakers. Slowly ARMY is gaining traction. Who just got his highest ranking on Billboard Pop Airplay at #30. There is more. Hope this helps.

basically they put more wieght of USA Radio play which is bought and paid for illegally. So that nearly everything that's played on USA radio has got there because the artist's label have done illegal deals with the Radio companies.
@ystrw
@ystrw Ай бұрын
Yeah, as Eileen is saying, BB and radio are in a kind of double handshake. To get played on US radio, a label now pays for air-time; they literally pay to get on the radio's playlist. The more the label pays, the more spins they get. The more spins, the higher the song will chart on BB. Billboard officially counts spins, streams and sales, but they make radio play the most weighted of the three, something like 60 or 70%. So when BTS makes it to the Hot 100 chart, it's always due to major sales and streams, and very little radio play (except for Butter.) Six major corporations own all of the radio channels in the US. So they aren't the least bit interested in what listeners want to hear, they're only interested in wringing out the maximum profit by boosting popular musical stars and getting their cut. And BB is perfectly happy to go along with it. BB's parent company is the Penske Media Corporation. Which owns Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stone, Golden Globe Awards, American Country Music Awards, AMA's, Dick Clark's New Year's Eve, and 34 other major magazines or award shows. Talk about having a stranglehold on the industry...

I watch street interview of Koreans talking about bts and K-pop, and I always wonder if they are living under the rock when it comes to BTS impact and achievement or they just do not want to acknowledge it The lack of cooperation in the K-pop industry is one of the reasons why the industry seems to be going in circles when it comes to relevance and recognition. If you can't appreciate your own stars and limit breakers in your country(BTS), why do you think the West will give you any real opportunity Make it make sense 🤔
