PS3 comes close to that level as well, though later into it's lifespan some modern monetization bullshit started occuring. PS4 era just went downhill rapidly in all regards, with just few good titles as an exception.

No it didn't. It was actually a pretty crappy system and virtually everything on it aged like milk. The SNES had a legendary library. There are several games on it that are still best in class today. The PS2 really has nothing like that.

Case and point: Ratchet Deadlocked. It’s so funny how that game actually lags on the PS3 version 😳 and, is missing a TON of the random comments that Dallas and Juanita make throughout the game.🤦‍♂️

The Burnout series needs to come back! I re-played Burnout Legends on the PSP recently (which looks pretty similar to Burnout 3 from a gameplay standpoint) and it holds up incredibly well. Not only is the game still fun to play, but it has an absolutely killer soundtrack. Racing through a city at high speed while listening to The Great Escape by We Are Scientists never gets old, even when the music is being played through crappy PSP speakers

For what it's worth Need for speed hot pursuit is pretty much a Burnout 3 remake in every way but just with the need for speed badge slapped on the front. Made by the same developer, the map layout and the race types are all exactly the same. That said even hot pursuit must be 10 years old now so they still need to get on and make a new one. Criterion is seriously under valued at EA.

PS2.....the Era of so many games you almost can't pick a favorite. The lord of the rings was a great game. Slycooper was and probably will be one of my favorites ever. I was injured and unable to walk in 5th grade for 6months and the sly series got me through that time between schooling. Punisher was good. Gta3, vice city and San Andreas was my jam for a time. Midnight club 2 and 3 dub edition still is a game I'd play if I had a ps2 or ps3 laying around. Dbz budakai and budakai tenkaichi(I know I spelled it wrong) series were great. Kingdom Hearts... enough said on that one. Lol straight gold. Hell there's games I barely remember the name of but have fond memories of the game play. I believe I played the Def jam games on ps2 and Xbox. So many games, so many memories, so much nostalgia... I'm now 28 and trying to hang on to my youth as long as I can. Lol

Having T.H.U.G., Mercenaries, Battlefront 2, and Midnight Club 3 on this list is great because those games all made up my formative gaming years but the fact that Burnout 3 is number one seals it for me. I have never played a racing game or really any game since then that has been able to match the same moment to moment thrills that that game did and for that reason it is still my favorite videogame ever. Plus it has the added bonus of also having the best soundtrack in a videogame. Ever.

@Frank R, you should really go get a PS2, and also get your games, console, and accessories at flea markets, swap meets, yard sales, and garage sales, as you will have far less likely of a chance to get ripped off by scalpers in those places than anywhere else. However, on rare occasions, you can use online auction websites to score good deals on them as well.
