One can ask an Italian who lives in Rome whether he is a Roman? Technically the answer is yes, one of the definitions of Roman is somebody who lives in Rome. So did the Vikings ever do anything the Romans didn't do? (Besides discover America) the answer is no. Everything the vikings did, the Romans did as well. The Vikings raided villages and so did the Romans. The Vikings took slaves, and so did the Romans. What was different between the Vikings and the Romans? The Vikings had better ships and the Romans were better organized.

@@ItsTheMagicMelon well technically Laggatha would be bisexual since she still is interested in men, and I'm not sure whether she was really attracted to the other woman or was just in a state of rebellion because her husband cheated on her and got another woman pregnant and married her. The actress who played her was a real beautiful woman, so Ragnar had to be insane to stray. Most of the Viking men in the show were lousy husbands in my opinion.

Please don't take offense when a person asks an ignorant question, which is not the same thing as a stupid question. An ignorant question only means that they don't know any better. Take it as a compliment that they are honestly interested in you and your wonderful country. I am from Texas, and I am often asked if I am a cowboy. There are real cowboys who live here, but not everyone who lives here is a cowboy. I don't even like Country and Western music, and people look at me like I'm crazy when they learn that. P.S. I just enjoy learning and listening to things from "back home", by which I mean Europe. I haven't been there in forever, and stupid COVID makes it even harder to go back even for vacation. I know about the assumption that someone living that far north must obviously live in igloos... I live at 68.3° north latitude in northern Canada, yes above the arctic circle. Last winter we had temps colder than -30°C from mid December through mid March... One thing that I found cool living here the first summer with 24 hours of daylight for 2 months was that I could take photos of rainbows at 2-3 AM. Living this far north is a challenge for sure. I wasn't born up here, I moved here for work, so you have the advantage of being born in Iceland, it's more natural for you to deal with the extremes of the seasons. You do an amazing job informing the world about your country, you're a natural communicator.

To anyone who is looking to visit someday, definitely make the time for it. A friend and I went in 2013 and stayed for a month, we rented a car and drove leisurely around the country, stopping anywhere that struck our fancy because we were in no rush. And it was worth it. So many good memories! It was expensive, but we counter balanced by not going to restaurants so much and eating a lot of sandwiches in the car. Ps: love your videos Hrafna!

Next time someone asks it, have fun with them! Like mess with them a little bit. Put on the most Canadian of Canadian accents and go with it! I love doing it to stupid questions about Australia. Hello Hrafna :) On July 2020 (during the Covid situation) I visited Iceland but it was super safe! At the arrival at the airport we did a test and they were super fast! Once we got the message that we’re negative we could travel around Iceland! It’s a fantastic country and the nature is so beautiful 😍 I fall in love with your country!! Now is my favorite country! I hope to visit it again as soon as possible!! ❤️ P.s. I wanna thank you cuz with your videos I learned a lot about Iceland before going there! Cuz there are not a many youtubers from Iceland talking about Iceland From Italy 🇮🇹

I can definitely see how these questions would get very annoying. You mentioned that the light wasn't consistent but I was more distracted by your "fika" poster in the background. I kept trying to read it. Since you mentioned the sun I want to say I've been following a couple other you tube channels from people in Reykjavik and absolutely loving how big the sun looks in the sky since it stays so low to the horizon in the winter. So cool looking. I can't wait to visit when it's allowed again.

If I remember correctly, Icelandish Viking settlers were actually farmers and they went to Iceland way after the early Viking raids on northern European coasts. And Vikings were not all the same, Danes, Swedes and Norse people were a bit different even at the time.
