I’ve heard Jordan in IG Live mention his favorite golf player and how lucky we are to witness a legend. I speak for myself but i am genuinely lucky and grateful to have you around Jordan. I’ve been following you guys for a long time and the amount of impact, which were all positive, you made on me is phenomenal. Truth to be said, also from Austin, Alan and all the guys from the barbell medicine team. From managing chronic pains to debunking myths that i believed in and defended mindlessly just because i had no idea why, and i was only able to overcome them through you. I dont really think i’ll ever stop improving now that i’m set on the right path thanks to you guys. That was long and and touchy-feely but its the truth and i appreciate you and all the guys and the effort you put. Thank you and i’ll always be your fan :)

I’m doing the injury and rehab coaching with BBM currently. Had this pain since sophomore year of High School. It’s been 5 years I’ve been to so many professionals and even tried the recommended stuff from Austin Baraki...I was unable to manage it on my own. It was getting to the point where I was in pain all day every day and couldn’t run, lift, sleep nothing. I’m getting much better and I’m a week and a half in. They’ve got me back in the gym lifting!

Hello from New Zealand. I am loving the rabbit hole of your channel and podcast. I had been told for so long that I have to 'earn' getting in the rack. I am 32yr, 168cm, 62kg, 12% body fat and have always been in a fit & health state, but constantly told that I shouldn't be going for squatting or pulling, and no one was willing to teach me (yes there is a massive component of men deciding this for me based on my XX chromosomes). 3.5yr ago I feel through a glass wall (sober:it wasn't safety glass) and I had complete laceration of all the tendons and muscles on the inside of my right foot. I rejected the prognosis' of all the 'you will never do X again' (running still not worth it unless and emergency). After surgery and self rehab (most PTs really suck) I got myself on my feet again. While I don't have most movement or control in big toe, I walk 15,000 steps a day, great dorsiflexion, no visible limo anymore, & I am learning to drive through my whole foot when with the bar. I heard Alan Thrall saying that if you want to learn to Squat, then you have to Squat, he sited Barbell Medicine, and thus began the beginning of this parasocial relationship. It gave me the permission I needed to hear. During our Covid19 Lockdown I starting squatting in the garage with just a broom handle, then an empty ezbar to learn form. Now our gyms are open I am in the rack and having check ins with a coach, Squatting 50kg. A bit gutted people held me back from compound movements for so long even before my accident. It's not much weight yet but frik I love it! I feel often people don't just share about how much more fun the major lifts are! I am also ADHD/ASD and have been greatly enjoying the mental benefits of being under the bar. I've found the novice template on your site, but can't find anyone in NZ who sells your books, please let me know who does. Please come do a seminar in Nelson, or at least Christchurch next time you are in this part of the world. Thank you for providing free content that is about science, facts, and health not KZbin fitness selling out. Knowledge is power. Been recommending you to all who will listen. :) Thank you

For me, the advantage Barbell Training has, is that I can work more compound movements and have a large hypertrophy effect, compared to having 5 or 6 different machines for the same effect. I have a small basement and with my squat rack and rack of plates, I have all I need for a complete workout (effect or affect?)
@BarbellMedicine
@BarbellMedicine 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think that compound lifts have a larger hypertrophy effect for some muscle groups compared to other variation using other equipment, especially when considering the amount of fatigue generated.
@wizzelhoart
@wizzelhoart 4 жыл бұрын
@@BarbellMedicine what I'm saying, is that barbell training offers the most bang for your buck. If I have limited space and limited resources, im going to have a much better training situation with a barbell and a squat rack, than 5-6 different machines at similar costs. Barbell training is the most efficient way to train.
@BarbellMedicine
@BarbellMedicine 4 жыл бұрын
@@wizzelhoart that's kind of what I said about barbells regarding budget, though this assumes someone wants to train with barbells. The point is that you don't have to train with barbells to get the maximum health benefits from exercise.

For us military lifters, when we have to take time away from training (1week to a month), how would you recommend adjusting programming when we get back into the gym? How would this adjustment differ for NLP and post novice lifters if both are focusing mostly on the big three lifts?

Question: If you were put in prison with a squat rack and bench. The only way out is to bench 500lbs and squat 700lbs. They will give you any food you desire at any time. What would your training, nutrition, sleep (and any other factors) look like?

Question: Every time I squat heavy, my right ear feels similar to when you're going up in an airplane and your ears lose some hearing (especially higher pitches). As I hit the bottom of the squat I can feel something odd happening like a change in pressure. The next day it still feels a little off, like it hasn't returned to normal. Any suggestions on how to prevent this or what is happening? Does this ever happen to you?

@@jabberwock14 Rip bans/shuns anyone who disagrees with him. His forum went from being very lightly moderated to almost every post requiring direct approval from him. He has "fired" an SSC for dissent as well. Sean Herbison got shadowbanned from the forum and kicked out of all the SSC chats for expressing disagreements on a programming issue. He also banned huge amounts of people sometime around the BBM split because people (people with actual backgrounds in physics) would debate him (at length) on the validity of the models and also because of some other unrelated shenanigans (like discovering extremely fucked up erotica that he wrote years ago). when Exodus Strength is back up most of the people there would be more than happy to explain at length all of the things wrong with TAC. Rip has burned a lot of people. Even without those explanations, it's not hard to see borderline cultish behavior from a lot of SS adherents if you go on the forums or the FB group. Some of them genuinely believe there is no way to train outside of bone on bone grinders for sets of fahve and then they wonder why they're all fat and injured. A lot of the weird reverence of Rip despite his horrible behavior (telling people to kill themselves, among other incredibly unprofessional behavior like changing the names of people on the forums to things like "Cunt" like he did to SSC John Hanley), the weird macho behavior......

I am in the process of watching all your videos because I know there might be real good science based knowledge about strength/muscle/training/health etc. But your videos will not reach the millions they deserve if they don't address just one item at a time and have a really good descriptive title. Nobody will search for "10 questions to "fill in name of anybody who is not a celebrity already". Your first one million video could be named "How to eat for muscle gain by docter Jordan Feigenbaum". Make it a 20 min well produced introductory overview. Please ask Alan Thrall how to keep it to the point. Just try it. And don't waste space in your title by repeating the channel name. (I know it's unsolicited advice, butt it's my way of saying thank you!)

You nailed it, my friend. This is really solid marketing advice. I love Barbell Medicine, but not to the point where I'm willing to watch a 14 minute video just to find out wether one of the 10 questions would interest me.

@@Konsti1 that's cool. Some people will and some people won't. Would be cool if people like you shared the video :)
@Konsti1
@Konsti1 4 жыл бұрын
@@BarbellMedicine I really hope you'll take Ed Harmsen's advice to heart, at least the "really good descriptive title" part. Here's why: your hardcore audience will watch your videos no matter what, but people who don't know you won't be attracted at all by generic titles as "10 Questions with Dr. Jordan Feigenbaum". Would you watch "10 Questions with Konsti1"? No you won't. Now, would you watch "How to get 5x more views on your KZbin videos by only optimizing the title?" or "How to write compelling titles for your KZbin videos and get 5 x more views"? That's more likely, isn't it? In other words, now you'll reach only your hardcore audience. But, with more compelling titles (specific and containing a promise, a benefit), you'll reach _both_ your hardcore audience _and_ new viewers. And because your content ROCKS a (big) chunk of those new viewers will also become hardcore fans. To make sure, this is not a personal attack. I'm not trolling you. This is a critique of the way you formulate the title of this video. And it could be done better. And I guarantee you'll benefit from it. What's the worst that could happen? You optimize titles like "10 Questions with Dr. Jordan Feigenbaum" and nothing changes (no, you won't lose vieweship). But then at least you've tried and you know that _that_ option doesn't work. But... What if? What if this "optimizing your titles" really works? One, it _does_ work. Two, it's only a small effort worth the try.

@@andrewwood4937 yea- it doesn't really work. We've had people who work at KZbin come to our seminars and discuss the algorithm/some strategies to improve viewership and let's just say it's more complicated than these suggestions here.
