Apparently my brother has hyperthymesia. He just recounted the family vacation from 1973 including the day we left, the day we arrived home, what we saw, where we went, who was there, and even that dad mistook someone's driveway for the road on the way home at 3am and he had to back out the camper. If anyone is interested in speaking with him leave me a comment and I will put you in contact with him.

Hi! My name is January. I am in middle school, and I love theater. I have a disorder called “spd” it causes me to have basically, extra senses. I have only 5 senses, just like everyone else, but mine are stronger. It might sound like a superpower, and you might be jealous, but it’s actually not. Because my senses are so strong, I get a sensory overload, in which case my ears ring, I can’t see, and every touch feels like a knife. Because of this, I have to wear headphones and sometimes sunglasses, so this doesn’t happen. I hope this story brings light to sensory-processing-disorder. Edit: it’s chronic. also, it causes no health problems that would be fatal. it can’t cause me any kind of serious problems, but it’s hard to live with.

Hyperthymesia person in a fanfic I have in my headcannon: “I can quote verbatim the dictionary definition of the word ‘forget’ in every English dictionary I’ve ever read, and I’ve read most of them. But I still don’t _understand_ the word, because I’ve never actually _experienced_ it. It’s like a color-blind person knowing that the _words_ ‘red’ and ‘green’ _exist,_ but not what it’s like to _see_ them as drastically different colors. I don’t know what it’s _like_ to _forget_ something, and I never will unless I get Alzheimer’s or some such. The idea of _forgetting_ something frankly _terrifies_ me. How do non-hyperthymesia people deal with having _holes_ in their memories? Holes in their very *lives!?”*

Just because you speak multiple languages or can imitate some accents on command. DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE THE SYNDROME! He said it happens uncontrollably and is normally caused by head trauma. Yet so many comments say “I can pull off a good French accent, so I must have it” And I love how someone can remember a couple of songs by heart and immediately think they have a syndrome that lets them remember anything. Yet they can’t even remember that self-diagnosis does not mean you have it.

I only fit two of them, but pretty sure if tested they would agree. I do the accent thing which sucks because I feel like I'm mocking them. Savant as I can pick up any instrument and be playing along to just about anything within the first few hours at most. Mainly due to the fact I've never tried playing with bows. Within two year's I had learned over 50 separate instruments. Took so long since I had to find them and save to buy them. It all started in middle School after a concussion. I decided to play trumpet, was made first chair, and then any time they need someone for a different instrument it was usually left to me unless I didn't want to as it gets too much to carry when you're playing 5 different things, and even switching throughout. Personally I wish I had the memory one. I've got a pretty good one but I wish it were better, or organized better. I forget things completely until someone will say something the triggers things, but normally it's not important things I can immediately recall, like what someone was talking about, wearing, or whatever from the first time I met them back to before kindergarten.

You're right, he doesn't like having this because in KZbin he has seen scary videos and facts that are actually true, and hes trying to talk to me to forget it, but he can never forget about this and is LITERALLY BEGGING to get this disease removed. He even remembers things like his first word he ever said in multiple places, the partial lunar eclipse he saw a while ago [like around he was born] and even remembers ALL the questions people asked him. He can recgonise strangers faces he saw, and he remembers so much more, thats the postitve thing he said about this disease.

You don't feel pain but you still die. Or hurts but you don't feel it I guess that's how you say it.

Panagiotis Tsampanis i say meh to those who get annoyed. I would be more annoyed to those who have nothing and still act as if they have a disease. Which is called idiotic syndrome.

These doesn't make you a superhero, this a curses. They have huge downsides. Like when you don't forget, a traumatic experience stays with you permanently when you want to forget it

They didn’t say it’s a superpower. They just said it could seem that way at first. The video literally gave all of the bad sides and why its not a superpower, or even good to have.

I have an extra finger. But it doesn't look like a normal finger. It's smaller than your average finger. It's attached to my left thumb. But I can't move it. Maybe it's just me but honestly half the time I forget I have one. But then I get really annoying questions about it like: "Does it have any bones inside?" How am I suppose to know? "Can you move it" Dude, if I could move it then I would've already tried to creep you out even more. "Do you cut it's nail?" You don't see it in the shape of the eifel tower do you? Of course I do! "Do people get scared of you?" Look in the mirror. "Why don't you get it removed?" SOME people are afraid of surgeries and needles. I'd rather deal with your annoying questions. When I first meet people they either: give me a really disgusted face, look really facinated, or tell me they've met someone like me before. But on the good side I have entertained myself a few times. Like when people look at my finger and they look creeped out. I dont know why but I find it funny sometimes. Maybe Im the only one whose treated like this. Maybe others with the same condition get bullied or something. So when I think of that I realize how lucky I am . Anyways thats my experience.
