Fire sword goes straight to D tier, and it would go even lower if possible, this thing is an active liability. I have two major arguments. 1) Durability. You said it yourself, the fire damages the weapon. How long will it last until the edge is lost, or the sword becomes too damaged to be usable? I wouldn't want to find out in a fight, especially with how little the fire actually benefits. 2) Visibility. When you had your play spar, you noticed that the fire impacted your vision, making it difficult to judge where the end of your sword actually was. It is clear that this made you hesitant as well. It is one thing to say that you would not hesitate regardless against a real enemy, but that could also leave you out of position to defend yourself against them.

More generally, rating any thrown weapon low purely because "you're throwing away a weapon" does feel a bit inappropriate. Thrown weapons have absolutely been significant battlefield weapons in the past (eg Greek peltasts, Roman pilae and plumbata, just off the top of my head). Rather than just rating a weapon low because it's a thrown weapon, I think it would just be that things like portability and economy would be more important in judging the weapon than they would be for a melee weapon. If they're cheap enough to be disposable and portable enough that you can carry a few of them, and have reasonable effect on target, then they'd be practical throwing weapons.

On a serious note that is as it should be really, a long stout stick is a very hard weapon to actually beat, and of this list just about the only weapon with a particularly real and enduring historical analogue. The cartoon and meme weapons facing off against a 'real' weapon can only have one result.

I've thought that with some of his builds but with more time allowed to go into the build instead of being rushed, since some of the rushed builds always seemed to have flaws from the materials used and not always the design itself. while it would also be nice to see more built to be the lore accurate size, with how almost anything he's used or talked about that's 5lbs 2.5 kilo or heavier seems to always be to heavy to be practical for anything I don't think most would get a fair rating even if they ended up far better.

@foldionepapyrus3441
@foldionepapyrus3441 4 ай бұрын
That is a pretty good bonus, and I would say they have one further benefit - as not only are they always there waiting for use whenever he needs them but even if they were just bone/steel having them be so much more integral to his arm as they must be anchored into his forearm somehow - so to actually be able to disarm him, blow through a block etc would be an extra challenge if they were real in ways T can't really replicate as he has to hold them not have them anchored to his skeleton... With that more durable attachment they would fight rather more like a genuine weapon as they are along the lines of the Indian pata, just with the three blades (which is suboptimal), so while I personally don't think the gauntlet sword style things are great weapons they really existed for long enough they can't be garbage...

Captain America's shield is actually made from a Vibranium/proto-Adamantium alloy. It's not just Vibranium. Vibranium gives the shield its unique physical properties, like absorbing kinetic energy and redirecting its own kinetic energy without losing momentum, such as when it ricochets around the way it does. But the shield's indestructibility comes from the proto-Adamantium, which was the original formula for Adamantium that was lost, and later replaced by modern Adamantium which Ultron and Wolverine's skeleton are composed of.

@@chuck-dee No, it can't be just Vibranium in the comics because that would retcon over 50 years of continuity. They may have felt the need to do that in the MCU because of Fox owning the film rights to X-Men, but there's no need to do that anymore now that Marvel and Disney own X-Men again. General rule with fantasy weapons: If you can't find something similar to the design in history, that means it was forgotten, so it was most likely ineffective or greatly outshined by other weapons of that era. For a lot of these, context is important. For instance: If your opponent is wearing plate armor, all of the throwing weapons are almost useless. The only context where Thor's hammer is remotely a good choice is if you are armored and you have a shield. Without these, your opponent is just gonna kill you before you can get close. In the context of the fantasy settings they're designed for, they're awesome tho.

I can try to find the video, but I recently saw a video of someone who made a pretty cool flaming sword. It used a form of 3d printed metal for the blade that adds a bunch of tiny holes that he was able to pump gas through (not gasoline but I forgot which one he chose) and the blade stayed effective even after he used it quite a bit. The downside was him having to have it hooked up to a fuel source and having to light it with a lighter, but it was super neat to see

Hey Tyranth! I loved this video! I wasn't even aware of the Caestus video. I'll have to go back and watch it. I wonder if it would help the channel if you did videos discussing a theoretical weapon and how one might replicate it IRL, and setting a like goal for that 1st video to actually make a follow up video actually building and testing the weapon. This would do a couple things: a. boost the channel through extra interactions so more people join b. build up hype for the buiding/testing video which will help boost the 2nd video when it is finally released. c. give you a barometer to determine audience interest in a particular weapon relative to other weapons. d. basically doubles the video content you are able to produce on this channel which boosts your "consistency" in the algorithm I think this would almost definitely help you do more projects like this, which I definitely would like to see more of. Great video man. Take care.

As good as the bladed boomerang may be, there's a couple factors I think really bring it down one tier. A: it would be a difficult weapon to master, given you can cut yourself in half while practicing with it before having an expertise. 2) after you throw this at someone, that one time you miss, what are they going to do? Run away, or charge you, if they are a trained warrior as well, and charge at you, you are now evading their attack, AND you have a giant spinning death blade coming right back to you!

Wolverine has an Adamantium skeleton that makes his wrists lock when his claws slid out, partnered with his fast healing capability, it all works to make his claws a formidable weapon. In real life, they have to be included in a gauntlet that's supported by the lower arm, in order to not move when making contact with the target. I think hidden blade has 2 main issues. The biggest problem would probably be not slicing your fingers up, a problem that can be alleviated by having the blade on top of your wrist instead of under like Eivor did in AC Valhalla (though that can lead to having less blade length). The other issue with it would be malfunctions. You could run into issues with it not ejecting properly, snagging on something, not retracting properly, or it ejecting when you don't want it to. All would be pretty big problems during an assassination attempt

That kiranachi sword is meant to swing and pull so as to tear. Hence the teeth. Zeus's volt is also made of electricity and when thrown it's fast as light. Wolverines claws don't really bend when they stab due to its hardness and how far the base is in his hand. The only reason the krall glaive isn't S is because we can not manipulate it like in the movie. The hidden blade isn't meant for melee combat, it is meant for quick sudden strikes in assassinations ( generally soft flesh body areas like the neck/throat, belly or kidney, these type areas.

I'd like to see a possible revisit to the dire flail. While I don't think it will ever be S-tier, I think a design where it isn't basically just a pair of spiked balls on either end of a pole could be worth theorizing. Where it was actually a hollow metal tube with a single continuous chain that could slide freely back and forth. Possibly with a handgrip stop or wedge to hold it in place. Normally the flails would be at their normal chain distance, but when the stop or grip is released, and the flail is swung the chain slides, pulling one end up against the shaft, like a mace, and the other, swinging end extending out, an equal distance, generating more force on the swing and possibly surprising an opponent who didn't expect the extra 8 to 10 inches of chain. Then swing the mace end and let the chain slip to reset it or club them.

You Wolverine's entire skeleton is encased in adamantium, and he has a healing factor. He's not breaking any bones when he uses the claws, and any tendon/ligament damage he might do to his wrists when using them heals immediately, and since things get stronger when they heal, I'm pretty sure his wrists are accustomed to using them. So for anyone else, the claws might be a C or D, but to Wolvie, it's at least an A.

I was wondering if you had also thought about the potentiality blinding your opponent using the fire and going in for grappling or achieve an effect where it is hard to tell where the sword is coming from because the fire can be spread over a persons vision (especially at night, like how a lightsaber has an blur stream effect).

Sir, your evaluations and ranking seem quite good and quite fair, but there is a class of weapon that I wish you'd have also evaluated, namely the two-handed axe/war hammer hybrid. The two (possibly three) examples that I can think of were Stormbreaker from the MCU, "Ultimate" Mjolnir from Marvel Comics, and possibly Dramborleg from JRR Tolkien's writings. (I don't think that Professor Tolkien described the weapon in detail, but apparently Dramborleg means "...thudder sharp..." which sounds a lot like this class.) Admittedly, Stormbreaker was ridiculously large - a hardened-steel version would probably weigh 25 kg or more - but a well-balanced single blade with a hammer on the opposite side, with a good, two-handed handle for leverage and control, sounds very useful. I'd dare to say, "...ideal for home defense..."

I thought the hidden blade in AC III was detachable. When Ratonhnhaké:ton (Connor) engages in combat he would remove one from his wrist and use it as a regular knife whilst leaving the other attached to be used as normally or have that hand free to counter or use with the Tomahawk so it has versatility and can be used in high combat scenarios, seamlessly in conjunction with other weapons and in stealth it excels. The oldest Hidden Blade in use is over 2450 years old and it still having use within the modern day has to count for something.

I wonder if Zeus' lightning bolt would work better being thrown like a no spin knife throw, rather than a javelin. You've got one third of it to hold onto to guide the trajectory path, but it looks like it's a bit bloody heavy to do that. I've thrown some bigger things, but it looks like it might be too bulky. You never know.

I'm a fan of throwing weapons the only issue I have with him is you don't have them after that so you have to make sure you have plenty or enough of them to get through what you need to get through and then as you go through to the next area retrieve them restock but I do think they're kind of handy because what enemy really thinks you're going to throw your weapon at them so it's also kind of a surprise attack because yeah

Keep in mind with Cap's shield; he's got peak intelligence = he's really, REALLY good at Triganomitry. Like with Cyclops, he would be able to do the calculations in head during battle that regular people wouldn't bother with. There's also the fact it's nigh indestructible. (which was a fair concern in medieval times - that I mention given your style of dress) It would be as good as a blade if properly thrown - which is also a point the comics don't touch on. Now as far as materials we actually have - it's probably down to just a regular shield bash. Even if you make it with our strongest metal alloy, it might not hold up against a couple of well aimed "cop killers." The only other one I can see directly in the list that might have a similar problem is Krull's. Though I'm not sure what the one right beside that actually is. The rest of them are either elemental, blunt of bladed weapons. All of which are very effective in combat. Blunt is especially good for heavy armor. We still haven't got a proper way to negate the impact of blunt force trauma entirely. (Where's a suit of Vibranium when you need one?) ** Caveat to Cap's shield for Offense = he makes it come back to him. He's also got enough "peak" human ability to be nudged to Superhuman... so he doesn't necessarily NEED it for the defensive ability it has (if you throw it for offense; you don't have it for defense - it was always the problem with thrown hatchets for example. You can only carry so many, and if you miss you are screwed) * That one sword/spear looking thing with way too many hooked/cut out parts might be a bit iffy though. Without more actual metal to the blade, you do risk it shattering in the middle of combat. (I know you're not supposed to block with the blade; but his opponent's going to do their best to break the damned thing just because it looks weak enough in some places that it might be easily managed - and without a weapon, you're a lot easier to take down. Put it against Thor's hammer for example, or a good axe, and the guy wielding it might be just a wee bit fucked) I'm not going to amend for every weapon here, but the Hidden Weapon was in fact a conceit of the game it comes from. It's not meant to do more than ONE attack with. When you know exactly where you want to hit, and how to make it LETHAL. I'll agree to the problems of the mechanisms involved - and most assassins of the era would've just put a blade in their boot or under their bracer (which is how we got the grip by the wrist instead of the handshake - to check for such weapons, just in case) you're not wrong that it would've been a solid blade instead. I think Ubisoft just did it that way to seem cool. Rather than practical. (Wolverine's claws are retractable as well, so the same point exists for his weapons, and really only carries off due to his mutant healing factor)

I do think you need to retry the Claw another try. I say this as in the comics when he does the claws it lock is wrist and that was what you said was the worst part. I think you should try it again more like the fist that you rank as a S destine where it is locking your from your wrist (ie more like the claws on a gauntlet that locks the wrist). This way it is getting that internal effect even though it is external. Good job on this list.

In a fantasy setting, a fire sword is really neat. But in the real world, I'd put the fire sword even lower to C or D. The fire not only isn't enhancing enough of the sword's strong points tk risk damaging it in the long run, but it's effectiveness is highly dependent on the environmental conditions it's used in and what it's used on.

I tried making the boomerang out of titanium, it's not great. Pros are: it's super durable, won't bend at all, despite not holding an edge it does hold sharpness in spiky parts, anodizes into an array of beautiful colors very easily, even if you were in a garage with some copper wires from the wall and bunch of AA batteries. Cons are: it's too light to throw properly, won't hold an edge, and it likes to crack thin parts like the edge if you try to give it a sharpen it to a proper cutting edge, an absolute fire hazard if you use power tools to shape, sharpen, or polish it, It likes to destroy metal tools, unless you go real slow.

Realism levels: circular Shield- every culture has them. There's a reason. There's also a reason why shields aren't used as throwing weapons either. Assasin blade- never done. Closest I can find are emeici, which are much smaller and held by a ring not a gauntlet. There's katar, but they're not really hidden in the same way- you have to actually reach into your robes or belt to grab it. There are such things as arm daggers and wrist blades, but the wrist blades are basically really sharp bracelets used for duels in north Africa, and the arm daggers is just how you wear it, not use it- you still have to grab the dagger from your arm and use it like an ordinary dagger. Blade's blade-ahistorical, but in India and the Pacific Northwest of Canada and Alaska there are double ended daggers called Haladi and Gwalaa. Purely close combat. There is a throwing curved dagger, the Mangbetu trumbash , but it only has a single blade. Similar we have other African throwning knifes with curves, but it's easier to throw a single-bladed knife, so no such thing as the double bladed throwing knife. It's a fusion of two real life weapons that doesn't work as well as either. Monkey staff-iron shod quarterstaffs were used in Europe, China and India, and quarterstaffs in general are pretty universal for good reason wheel- ahistorical for good reason. It's not mounted on a vehicle, it's not a chakram, it's not a wind and fire wheel. It's just clumsy. wolverine claws: close. The Tekko kagi is braced on the arm and wrist and goes around the hand. Likewise the bagh nakh can be used like this, but it's much shorter and often used instead inside the palm as a concealed weapon. The wolverine claws rely entirely on connection with the adamantium skeleton to be functional. Both the historical weapons are on iron braces like a katar, more of a gauntlet. I believe there are gloves with knives in India, China and Japan for spies and assasins but those again have really tiny blades. Kirabachi-single edged machahuitl. I've seen this kind of weapon in Mayan art and I think there's some similar sharktooth weapons in Kiribati. Perfectly servicable but limited in applications Chaos blades-butterfly swords but on chains. Chains are pretty useless unless you really need to strangle someone or try to snare a weapon. The butterfly swords are legit martial artss weapons, good for dueling, but putting on them chains does not help. Sokka's boomerang- metal version of actual kylies. That design still works, used across the world for throwing sticks. I'm not aware of any made of metal, but the concept works. I wouldn't expect it to come back, but I would expect a great range and accuracy and some curving ability. And there are Australian boomeranges with a sharpened edge for hand to hand combat and other kinds of cutting. Sokka's club, by the way, is based on Great Lakes and eastern war clubs of native Americans- very functional design, and the Cheyenne and Lakota actually brought them west and used them on horseback as well. war sickles-war sickles and sickle swords are a thing since ancient times all over the world, and they do exist in polearm form in medieval Europe and China. However, they weren't as popular as handheld ones or ones with a gentler curve like the ušatá sudlice. And double ended ones weren't a thing, even in China where many polearms had an opposite blade. Thunderbolt: completely fictional of course. Billy club- pretty creative integration of multiple real world weapons. Most of the time it's easier to have just a lot of sticks but if you can switch it's a good idea. Like the boomerang it's ahistoric but works on principle. Kanabo- very historical. Lacks the reach of a spear, tends to be heavy, and can't be carried, so it was less common than spears and swords, but a genuine weapon in medieval Japan, especially the later period when armor was more popular. Cestus: ahistorical, since the real cestus was a leather strap, sometimes with studs or spikes. Still, not that different from real life punching weapons, only those tend to be lighter and cover only the knuckles. Krull glaive- basically an Sahel throwing knife used across that region of Africa but without a handle. Not a fan of it, but I can see how it works. Swordspear- I recall giant novelty navajas existing but they weren't this big, but folding knives will always have inherent weaknesses. Once it's fixed I can see it's use like an early Iklwa or a Bhuj or even nagamaki, just a long handled, long blade Mjolnir- ahistorical. Throwing maces did exist in medieval East Africa, China and Greece and of course boomeranges count as such, and I can see something like a meteor hammer working. It doesn't look very practical, however, and real life war hammers were never thrown to my knowledge. It looks like it's best used as a meteor hammer rather than a regular throwing weapon or melee weapon. Fireswords- ahistorical. Impractical but cool as hell.
