When I hear the arguments defending Garrosh and I think you could make the same historical arguments for Hitler personally. I actually liked Garrosh's character up till Cataclysm and I was hoping that he would get a redemption story and become a worthy warchief for all Blizz invested in him. Instead they used him as the poster boy for the cycle of hatred which is ironic since he never even met a human prior to BC thus having no real reason to hate them. Also, he was tutored for leadership by some of the wisest orcs in history. The moral of the story is that children are doomed to become their fathers and nothing can change that. Wasted opportunity on Blizz's part for a character who had a lot of potential to become the next big face of the franchise all because of their desperate attempt to pretend that they werent killing off all their big name lore villains too quickly for the sake of adding content.

@JRBDWD3 жыл бұрын
That would be another great point. The filthy coward,Vol´jin literally said he would backstab Garrosh at the first opportunity. So you have to deal with traitors,first
@ondrejapalovic5993 жыл бұрын
@@JRBDWD First of all, the point raised wasn't that Vol'jin wasn't a threat to Garrosh but that Garrosh always fought his greatest opponents 1v1 "honorably" and if he didn't do it the "honorable" way for some reason then he would regret it. Luring somebody to do the dirty work for him in some cave somewhere in Pandaria, having him stabbed by a poisoned dagger and keeping his supposed death a secret kinda goes against the point. Secondly, the only traitor here is Garrosh for violating many principles of the new horde, including the oppression of the trolls as one of the first races of the new horde. Last but not least, the dialogue where the threat happened started with Garrosh and Vol'jin insulting each other where Garrosh was the first one to insult Vol'jin and Garrosh was the first one to death threaten him. Also Vol'jin didn't threaten to kill him "at the first opportunity". He threatened to dispose of him when he loses all power and support and becomes insignificant. There was no immediate threat as long as enough of the people support him. He basically told him that he will ruin himself as a Warchief and he'll just wait for it and he even did continue to obey to a point when going on that mission in Pandaria. So next time please refrain from using the word “literally" before you get your lore straight. It was an interesting point of view to think about though, so thanks for engaging in the discussion👌
@JRBDWD3 жыл бұрын
@@ondrejapalovic599 He started pushing the trolls after Vol'jin made his threat,also the Horde isnt a constitutional republic. The word of the warchief is everything. You can see the the rules in the mission on WotLK when the Taunka joined the Horde. Vol'jin won was a traitor and had to die.
@ondrejapalovic5993 жыл бұрын
@@JRBDWD He treated other races of the Horde, including trolls, in a disrespectful and insulting way even before but I do acknowledge the point that majority of the violence against trolls happened after Vol'jin's threat. Btw, Vol'jin never opposed Garrosh in action, only in word and what he said in the mentioned dialogue was kind of “Hey, I don't like what you are doing here and I think it will lead to bad things so if you screw up really hard then I might have to kill you.". Furthermore, Saurfang told him literally the same thing but more directly and without such open dislike. So in one case it did not stir any action and in the other he persecuted the whole race quite hard and assassinated Vol'jin in secrecy. This kind of response to verbal opposition was foolish as it upset the stability in the horde enough to eventually lead to his downfall and thus he was probably a bigger threat to himself than Vol'jin ever was. Regarding the point that horde isn't a constitutional Republic, while that is true, the ultimate loyalty is still to the Horde which the Warchief serves as pointed out by Thrall in The Shattering and this fact was acknowledged by Garrosh as well. Whether Vol'jin had the right to rebel depends on whether you acknowledge Locke or Hobbes type of philosophy so there is no right answer to that. Hobbes would probably view Vol'jin as the traitor even though Garrosh's actions were unjust, while Locke would probably view Garrosh as the traitor to the Horde. If you take it from the point of view that what Garrosh was doing was right then Vol'jin obviously was a threat and a traitor but still the action was foolish as I pointed out earlier.

I always thought the entire Garrosh arc was sort of hamstrung by the fact that WoW was an MMO. His version of the Horde excluded everyone who wasn't an Orc with few exceptions, like the Goblin engineer. If the game actually wanted to tackle his storyline in a smart way, they would've needed to actually create a schism in the Horde through gameplay mechanics and a possible third, temporary faction. They didn't and they've been jerking off his image for fanservice ever since.

Garrosh is a strange character. I remember not being huge on him when they introduced him but when they started to take Varian Wrynn in a more positive and redeeming direction I figured they would make Garrosh his foil and follow his own redeeming path. Blizzard did ultimately just decide to make him purely bad and essentially irredeemable but some of these are good points. In hindsight the best thing he did in my opinion was the Stonetalon thing and denying the use of the Plague. He also didn't cheat in combat which is also a plus but honestly everything else in this video either lead to something MUCH worse that was his fault like Legion, WoD or the destruction of The Vale of Eternal Blossoms/Return of the Sha. I disagree with a lot of Thrall's decisions but I'm glad Garrosh is out of the picture for good now. Wasted character for sure but pre redemption he was kind of a scumbag and he definitely was a scumbag when that became his new story. @darienmachen25453 жыл бұрын
I can talk forever on the topic of garrosh but to keep it short, I wouldn’t say he suddenly turned evil and more he was driven by a lot of factors. A few of them are 1 thrall low key forced him to be war chief, garrosh refused 2 or 3 times but thrall wouldn’t take no for an answer. 2 Vol Jin straight up gave him a death threat face to face, hence his distrust of trolls, 3 the twilight’s hammer clan ambushed a friendly meeting of Druid night elves and Tauren which cairne blamed garrosh for even though he had nothing to do with it and just immediately challenged him to mak’gora, which he has to accept for his honor. Then grimtotem poisoned his weapon which he felt dishonor for, causing his mistrust of the Tauren, (also Baine hated him for killing his father in the mak’gora is another reason he mistrusted Tauren) 4 sylvanas using the plague acting like the new lich queen caused his mistrust of undead, essentially the only people who weren’t actively against him were the orcs. I’ll end it there lol but main point is that yes his actions were his own but they were mostly reactions to aggressions towards himself or the horde as a whole. Garrosh was done dirty imo

I do think the other leaders gave up on him far too quick and didn’t even help advise him (probably due to fear tho since he was so hot headed) and thrall just dipped immediately to heed the call of the elements so he was brand new to leadership and out on an island alone, side note too I’m not positive but I’m like 99% sure thrall cheated in the mak’gora where garrosh died cause they’re only allowed one weapon and he chose doom hammer and garrosh chose gorehowl, then when he started losing he switched to shamanism abilities :/ not positive if that’s against tradition but when garrosh says you made me what I am he’s referring to how he thrust the war chief mantle on him then abandoned him

@@darienmachen2545 Again good points I hadn't thought of. I guess it makes sense why Garrosh turned out the way he did. His hot headedness and paranoia got out of control and he wasn't supported the way he needed to be. The people who were supposed to be advising him kept treating him like the big bully on the block. Vol'jin made a poor choice, Sylvanis could've found a better solution to the Forsaken population problem and Cairen probably could've tried asking Garrosh if he had anything to do with the attack on the druids. I get that it was unforgiveable seeing druids murdered but I don't think Garrosh would order an attack on them unless there was a valid reason for it. Killing druids wouldn't help the Horde at all so there'd be no point in it.
