Question, in my current and past role as a BA I don't have access to our SQL database even though I asked my dev manager but they insisted that only devs can access the DB. What am I supposed to do in this case ?

BA usually don't get access to production databases to avoid the overload, however, access to a data warehouse where the historical copy of the data is stored (or any other data storage that feeds your analytics) should not be a big issue. You would only need read-only access, not full access. Sometimes, there are special views created for analysts to query instead of the tables - I would ask about that as well.
