After using the Canon R5 for two years, I can say that the R10 is a beast. The autofocus is fast, accurate. I like the quality of the images and videos. I also like the ergonomics and the menu similar to the R5. At this price point, it's a deal. Small is beautifull!

The thing with the R10 is it the perfect camera that has everything for the price? No. But it a seriously capable camera that is missing maybe a few bits that would be nice to have but not essential to me personally. Where as they might be to someone else. I honestly really like the R10 and enjoy the the imagine you can produce for videos and photos. This camera is an oddity for Canon because, actually I think they got it completely right. ☺️

You must be the only person in the entire world that hates the Canon R10. Let's remember what this camera is really designed for: Photography. This is by no means a full fledged video camera. Yes, it has the option to record video, but it's really not meant to do so, especially for long periods of time. Video recording takes a toll on any battery as it's a very demanding process. If you really want to take videos, then get an actual video camera. Not even the Go Pro battery can last more than 1 hour when recording. Again, this camera is meant for photography, not video.This camera has an impressive 15fps, which for wild life and action photography, is absolutely perfect. It takes amazing photos, has Canon's latest DigicX processor, its very compact and honestly, you are getting quite a lot for the money. Yes, the sensor is a crop sensor, but this is one reason the camera doesn't cost as much as yours. You gotta remember, not everyone has $2,100 to spend on a camera and this R10 is $1,000 less than the EOS R. The EOS R uses a Digic 8 processor, which is already 5 years old. In the technology world, 1 year is equal to 2 years. The R10 photo and video quality is on par with the EOS R. The smaller sensor makes absolutely no difference in quality. Only difference lies in the cropping of the image. Other than that, quality is the same, or better, due to its Digic X processor. Just my two cents on the subject. Thank you for your reviews.

I did have my fair share of second guessing about this when I ordered it, but I’m actually glad with it. I’ve shot 3 college basketball games using the R10 and had a few portrait shoots. I am highly satisfied. As far as the top lcd, I’ve shot wit an R a while ago and never really use it. For video, it’s ok for me I guess, I’m more stills than video but this is a really underrated camera, just like the RP. I’ve seen professional photographers using the R10 and still the RP.

Does it still require you to take photo to set custom white balance in video mode? That never worked for me in my Canon M50. I had to set white balance manually in Kelvin.

I have Olympus e-m1 mark ii but i'm bored of it because of the 2x crop sensor and bad focus tracking system. I want to change my camera but idk what should i choose to. I'm between r10 and RP. Do u recommend me to change my Olympus or do u have any other camera to recommend? I'm using them for short movies and wedding vids mostly but i take portrait and street pics a lot too.

This is tough question, because it comes down to how much you have invested in to the Olympus system, like the amount you have spend on glass and accessories that are limited to your Olympus. I haven’t used Olympus loads. I must say I actually really like the canon RP it’s a great stills shooter and full frame. But it I remember correctly the DPAF doesn’t work on the 4K honestly out of these to I would straight up pick the R10, But an r10 isn’t weatherproof. Your Olympus is also a pro body. And probably has a lot more features for stills. Video wise an r10 keeps up just no ibis. But again it come down to preference

please help me . Can a godox v860ii v860iii or any other speed light fit this canon eos R10. I cant seem to find the contact points on the hotshoe. I also noted that you are using a third party flash on your R10. Any extension of help would be appreciated.

As far as i'm aware no, the r10 has a multifunction hit shoe and i dont think they are compatible yet, there is also an issue with some TTLs causing exposure issues with the pre flash. i think the only one that i know of that works is the Canon speedlite EL5, but i dont use speed light very often.

Just bought it and I already love it for what it is :-) A small and easy to carry but advanced point and shoot. paired it with a Canon 50mm RF 1.8 and it's really a great pair.

I think the 90d is a great camera, and I know a few people that love there 90d for both of these types of photography. With wildlife you get the crop factor as well, making your lens feel longer than they are which can come in hand depending on the lens used

You missed the point completely. It's a small lightweight camera, of course their will be compromises, I use mine professionally and with the battery mains adapter shot all day, 10 days shooting for a project in Prague funnily enough with no issues what so ever. 25,000 images were took.

I want a camera with an articulating lens for macro photography, using manual focus. I've head /read that the articulated screen of the R10 appears fuzzy and insufficiently lit. What has been your experience, please? Thank you!

Honest I haven’t had any issues with brightness or fuzziness personally with the R10. I would like it to have a less cluttered screen and there is a lot of information on the screen, but with the focusing guide and focus peaking I’ve not had any issues really

This is a really hard question to answer in a comment, even with an video comparison of the two it would be close for different reasons. And preference make up a huge part of it. I live in England so I would prefer weather proofing and longer battery life. But depends on style of wild lift photography your taking, fast pasted shots the animal eye track could be handy.

I was thinking to buy the R10 but you remember me that it hasn’t a display on top, and I think it is good to have it. So, any recommendations for me ? I love to take pictures and videos but with my drones also love to make hyperlapses, motion blur, night photos, nature etc … how about the Eos R50 that Canon will release on 03/16 comparing with the R10 (although it also doesn’t have top screen ). I’m sorry for my questions but it is so hard to buy a first camera because there are so much models, so far a have decided for Canon, my budget is no more than $1200. There isn’t a top screen on the R10 but you can live without the top screen, it’s just a nice to have, but it’s also not always an essential. I think if you have the money for the R10 it has more and higher resolutions than the R50 and you could still go extra battery’s or lens or what else you need. It’s a great camera and I enjoy using it every day

Im a EOS R10 user. And I'll encourage all LOG lovers to switch on HDR PQ, which will switch all video footage to 10 bit and select the Neutral profile. The footage you'll get from the R10 will be flatter than the EOS R C-LOG and better quality. If you doubt this, see for yourself by doing it.

I depends on what you would use it for. I can only tell you which one I would pick, which would be the R10 mainly but it’s up graded in nearly every way, it has the newer Digic X processor, the same auto focus as the R3, faster frames per second for photos, for if you having sports or wildlife you more likely to capture the moment, the R10 is RF mount, so you can purchase the latest glass or use older canon or 3rd party glass with an adapter. This is just a few of a lot of reasons why my preference would be the R10.

This is a good question as far as I’ve experienced you can charge the batteries via USB-C while the camera is off, or you can power the camera via USB-C while it’s on, but it doesn’t charge the batteries. For the size of the batteries in this thing, They aren’t bad but they also aren’t great. A battery grip would be a good option, if there is one as it’s still fairly new

For the 90D, you can buy a 70-200 f4 L for a measly $400 not to mention killer E-FS wides like the 11-22mm or third party gems like the Sigma ARTs. What about battery life? Handling? Viewfinder? ;) A system camera that’s cut off from the EOS system doesn’t sound better in every way to me but the R7 is definitely a nice body.

People keep going on and on about the lack of clog, when shooting in 10bit gives you enough space to correct/change colors to a good extent. I've had no trouble color correcting the footage off the r10, and I've shown them in servers and forums and I've received good feedback on the results. The crop frame though is annoying, mainly cause it can't compete with a full frame sensor when it comes to noise performance. The Jareds of KZbin will say they like grain but in video, the r10 produces a fair bit of noise above 1600 ISO, even with high NR enabled, especially in 10bit. I'd say the noise is the only problem I have with it, combined with the r10 recording footage in a very demanding for a computer to process format. I can't even play 10bit footage from the r10 before I edit them down. So if you've not bought a camera yet and video is your thing, yeah go for the EOS R. Or more expensively, the r6.

This is more of a point of, if you are coming from another cameras like a canon 70d, 80d etc it doesn’t have a Top LCD canon used to put top LCDs on there lower end cameras but have taken it off and honestly it’s a con. They used to come on £1000 cameras now you buy a camera that is £2800 and you don’t get it.

I have one question though, i have a 2000D and wanna upgrade to a mirrorless, i can easily change my ecosistem since i only have 2 inexpensive lenses. If I’m honest I think you would be happy with either of these cameras, and yes the Sony A6400 is older be it’s still a great camera and there are a lot of creators out there still using them. It has a lot of great features like slog and weather sealing is just a couple of them, but the R10 has a few newer features like more tracking modes, articulated flip screen, focus bracketing, plus a list of others. I think which ever you pick you will be happy.

I would recommend it, it’s a brilliant beginner camera and spec. it definitely doesn’t fall into that category. This a more advanced camera, but like all canon cameras are really intuitive to use and if someone wanted it as a first camera they would get on great with it. 👍🏻

I sold my five years old 77D for 320€, then added 495€ and bought new R10 with adapter, that's also where is R10 positioned, as a direct replacement to 77D, as it has almost anything which that camera had on offer and added many many more. Original R wasn't meaningful for me as even highly used units still sell for 1200€, and RP, while great, is just camera for entirely different purpose.

@@ChristianPitcher Fuji is far far behind Canon or Sony. The only major lacking R10 APC is lack of cheap lens and headphone jack. I used Olympus or Fuji before. Believe me Canon/Sony are best. Canon glasses are far better than third party lens. My next camera will be Canon R7 as I am a Hybrid user.

Reason 12: Canon intimidated third party lens makers by suing them over their patent for autofocus on the R-series, so you are forced to use only Canon lense and the R-Series of lenses is still extremely limited 2 years after the R-Series was announced. It may be a decade or more before Canon will licence its patents to third parties and then it will make it so expensive that you will be paying close to the same price as the R-Series equivalent lens.

I agree it’s a shame canon haven’t opened it up, they could potentially sell so many more Rf mount cameras if there was an option to have more choice of glass. Not everyone has the budget for Canon glass and there is a good chance that if you are spending 800-900 bucks on a camera you may not want to spend double on a a decent lens. The likely hood is you may be starting out, or on a limited budget.

Canon are saying there will be M lens, but with the Rf it likely it will be around for a long time as, it’s the mount of the most expensive cameras like the R5 the R3 and it will be the mount for the New R1 when it’s announced and released

Why are video users always cracking off photo camera's. BUY a video recorder. I have a Canon 80d with a lcd screen which i have never looked at. @@ChristianPitcher Seem not possible to remove battery door. BTW i have R10, i dont like it due high price for limited available lenses and use video the battery life is short. Low light is poor. Like switch to Sony A7iii.

The R10 suits a purpose. But I can definitely see why you might consider swapping. The a7iii is a great camera and would be a great choice

If the camera comes with the Rf to EF adaptor you can you older EF and EF-a mount glass, and it opens up a range of different brand lens manufacturers as well ✌🏼

whiner ! - just a couple of points : a crop sensor DOES NOT change the focal length of the lens and if you are going to compare the R10 with used cameras make the point that a used R10 is even cheaper !
