I have seen and heard of people taking up the sport but not finish training or they just give up. Here are 10 things to think about before you consider it and its too late.
10 Reasons NOT To Take Up Paramotoring is my honest opinion which I want to share on KZbin based on my first year in the sport:
10 - Patience - You will need it. The weather does not always play ball.
09 - Fields, LZ’s - You have to have a few alternatives. Knock on doors !
08 - The Cost - Mishaps (during training) can cost you (props, lines etc) + maintenance
07 - Maintenance - learn about 2 stroke engines, fault diagnosis and how to maintain them
06 - Social - You will get to know lots of new people, attend events, fly in’s etc.
05 - Weather - You will need there right equipment, it can be cold at height
04 - Learning - There is a lot to learn (airspace, FAA, CAA regs, weather, thermals, launching etc etc)
03 - Obsessions - You will become obsessed with Aps, weather, LZ’s etc
02 - Heights - You may not realise how it effects you until you do your first flight. Some dont even realise they are scared of heights
01 - Fitness - Foot launching, kiting and the weight of your paramotor, especially if you have failed launches can take its toll if your not able. Consider a trike if this is going to be an issue.
Fly safe everyone

Always a pleasure to watch your videos. They are well done, interesting and fun. After 20 years of paramotoring and 9 years of stop, you gave me the envy to fly again. Paramotor is ready, the trike needs a little checkup, got a new wing, planning on a big ground training before flying again but for the first flights will be coached by a friend instructor. Thanks

Jammy bugger! Nice flight (read jealous). All very valid points. Field spotting weather enthusiasts is a real symptom of paramotorists 😅

Great video and good points! I didn't realise Scotland was so flat! 🤣 Another one is, if you don't have a good relationship with your spouse, this sport probably isn't for you.

Totally agree Mark- I have a VERY understanding wife!!!! Yeah, I’m in the east coast of Scotland, it’s much flatter there at the coast. Need to get over to the west coast sometime and fly Ben Nevis.

You didn't mention: that sometimes you load your car, drive 100 miles to a field so. you can meet some people to fly with and the Weather change! All of sudden it becomes too windy and that's it, no flying... ;)

Hi I’m just getting in to paramotoring can I ask what is the max weight of wing your fly and what is your total weight I have a max weight of 135 on the wing and that the moment I’m 133 kg all up do you know what is the built in safety margin cheers
@MidFlightCrisis
@MidFlightCrisis 12 күн бұрын
Hi there. My wing is an Ozone Spyder 3 and the max weight it can take is dependant on its size. I fly a 28meter wing which means for Paramotoring it’s between 95 - 160kg’s. I weigh about the same as you all up (130kg) which is in the middle of the range which is about right. See here for the Spyder 3 specs: flyozone.com/paramotor/products/gliders/spyder-3

Hi do you need public liability insurance, I have a few drones and i have to have insurance.
@MidFlightCrisis
@MidFlightCrisis 12 күн бұрын
@@S40TBS amazingly you don’t legally have to in the UK. However, I would advise you have it! You never know. So a lot of pilots I know (including myself) have taken the insurance out.
