Super agree with pretty much everything you've said. Turtle WoW is just excellent. I want to point out that TWoW Hardcore isn't just way more forgiving during the leveling process. In Classic HC, you level, grind grind grind, and if you're skillful and lucky enough you'll hit 60; from there, you either take the massive risk of raiding (which will consist mostly of hunters) or you rest on your laurels and do nothing else with your character since PVP deaths do count. In Turtle WoW, you hit 60 on a Hardcore character and you have the option to continue being Hardcore or changing back to a normal character. Meaning you can actually participate in the full extent of the endgame with raiding and PvP to your heart's content while also having the kickass title of Immortal (and some neat cosmetics) which has been long unobtainable in retail. I'm relatively new to WoW. My best friend is the one who introduced me to it years ago on another private server, and he played retail back in '05. As a Dark Souls veteran who loves neat challenge runs, when I learned that hardcore gives cool stuff AND can be turned off after you hit 60 it reminded me of DS2's Illusory Ring of the Conqueror challenge and I've since been sucked into it having died more times than I can count by now. Currently have a 26 HC warrior that I've been grinding on entirely solo with the hopes of eventually raiding and PVPing with if I can hit 60.

I played on Kronos, Elysium and Light’s Hope as well. Did a brief stint on Nostalrius, but they shut it down before I hit max level.

Hey mate, great video. You got some streamer attitude :) Really enjoyed the calm voice and character. Maybe show a bit more old gameplay or trailers in the back and make your head fit the picture by making it smaller. 1) Your voice really reminds me of that guy who did Classic Game Room lol 2) I haven't tried Turtle Wow yet. Am I right in thinking it's basically Vanilla WoW with some fanmade additions/changes? I.e. not just Vanilla Wow 1-to-1. Honestly the last time I properly played WoW was back in like 2006 (got a warrior to around level 45 and then gave up for reasons I cannot remember) so I probably wouldn't be able to tell what is original/fanmade stuff.

@@bluetech2809 you’re totally right, its Vanilla but expanded. There is now six years of improvement and addition. Totally get you for giving up at 45, its a huge game, maybe if you try it again the additional quests and content will help you make it to 60.

And who is saying they don't shut the servers down? The Turtle WoW Team seams to put some seriously effort into this. Like the UE5 release planed for 2025. I could imagine at some point blizzard will interfere, as they did before.

@@MrDromp This warrants a reply with more attention so lll split the reply into two. Nostalrius was only able to remain open for about a year, TurtleWoW has been up for six years now. Basically, the servers location is in a territory that even Blizzards team of lawyers have difficulty prosecuting from what I understand.

I’ve played retail for over 15 yrs now and I’ve never heard of turtle wow, this may be an ignorant question but if this is free what incentive do the creators have to keep it up and running? It sounds interesting especially the old game experience but I don’t want a virus on my computer or something 😬

Great question. The creators are incentivized in a couple ways. 1.) The community donates to support the project 2.) If the devs fail, the Vanilla WoW community is incredibly passionate and another will take up the mantle 3.) Developer credit and recognition among the community You definitely wont get a virus from using the official site. turtle-wow.org/ Good luck and I hope to see you online in the future my friend. You deserve more than the unpassionate "efforts" of Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard gave up on us a long time ago and is just paying the bills at this point.

They get profit through donations. You can buy convinience items like bags, repair bots and mounts. In return you get a server that's not only evolving in end game, but in leveling content as well. I never got any viruses playing this..

Kael’Thas also delved into dark magic and we never got to see how that would play out amongst more traditional High Elves. We get a story arch here that feels like exactly where we left off in WC3 you should try it

6:58 I tried Hardcore on Turle WoW and died bcs of high spawn rate when too many players are in same area like you. It was impossible in Durotar.

There's actually no dynamic spawn timer system on turtle, mobs default have a 5min respawn if they aren't rares or other specific cases with slightly longer timers. Keep this in mind and don't die again!

But it does have world PvP! I was not interested in Turtle WoW until they added the Warmode glyph. That's when I joined, and I'm doing both World PvP and the HC journey alike! It's a server that has everything.

There are two servers and TelAbim server is PvP one. So you can have PvP playtrough as you want. And as anyone said, there is kind if world PvP even in main one thank to glyphs, just not on that level.

Ok, so what? What does it even mean? That players can buy something from GMs for irl money? I been playing there for over a year COMPLETELY for free and I had plenty of fun. If you're PvE guy, plenty of guilds are always recruting new members for raiding. If you're more of a PvP (like me) everything is still fine from world pvp while leveling, through batllegrounds to end game PvP. Yea ofc you can sometimes encounter someone who is bis geared, but there's nothing preventing YOU from also getting bis. So what exactly is the issue?
