This is a great review Garry. A really good argument for moving across. I have such an attachment to Wedo 2.0 and I must say that this is the first good argument I've seen for moving away from WeDo 2.0

SPIKE Essential is a wonderful set !! I hope LEGO updates again the App, cause we have serious bug issues in our class !! Half of the pcs with windows 10 don't function properly with new App V 2.0.4 and the App never opens, just stays on the white screen, which causes problems to SPIKE prime also.

I dont think Spike is a good kit, we have a lot of problems, it is a failure!

Thank you. Interested in getting started for my 7 yo. Lego seems to be sold out/out of stock of this and other sets. I wonder what is the deal? I guess I need to look for alternatives, please share any suggestions.

The price for Spike Essentials is not attractive. And the big advantage of WeDo 2.0 is the collection of instructions available, that is often more important to younger kids than wow effect of new electronics. I would love to have all LEGO Education sets (if you remember Lego Math? It's brilliant but lays in dust archived). But the price is too high. There is also great pleasure to teach oldschool-style.

we try to teach to our student simply how universe work. In we do 2.0 can make a lots of different motion transmission using the gears.Essential is very inadequate in this regard. I can only transmit motion with pulley parts.I think it's a product of Lego Education company just to make money, and it's insulting to people who have worked for lego we do 2.0, prepared free content, shared instructions, developed software.

Hi! 51515 is for older kids, and it’s more comparable with SPIKE Prime 😊 SPIKE Essential is for younger students. Garry
