⭐ Get Nebula now: go.nebula.tv/kentobento (includes my Nebula Exclusive shows) 🩸 Watch The Shocking Chinese Pork Bun Murders exclusively on Nebula: nebula.tv/kento-bento-pork-bun-murders 👆🏼 Clarifications: - There is some truth to the stereotype that Asian's don't get fat, but it's certainly not a rule. - Not all Asian countries are equal. Some countries fit these points better than others. - I do not claim that Asians never get fat. In fact, the first thing I say in the video is that there are Asians who are fat. - East to Southeast Asian countries are what this stereotype is mainly referring to, hence more of those examples. - Non-Asians can easily practice or apply these points too. - If you are an Asian but live in a Western country or has a Western influenced diet, many of these points don't apply. - Yes, sumo wrestlers are fat (although fat and muscly as hell is more accurate). Again, not a rule. Also they made themselves that size on purpose. - I use the all encompassing quoted term 'Asians' (accurate or not) because it's in reference to the stereotype.

Just go for it! Many people with chronic illnesses, especially immune disorders, wear medical masks to protect themselves from catching anything. Some even wear them to protect themselves from things they are sensitive or allergic to, such as smoke, chemicals, certain perfumes and smells, etc. It doesn't matter what other people think of it because it's for your own health and safety, and the safety of others as well if you're sick yourself. I doubt anyone will question it or ask about it aside from family and close friends or coworkers. :) You might get some weird looks since it's not a common thing in America, but nothing more.

歌叶 And America. not the west.
@LevCallahan6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't make any difference what term he uses. We get the concept. If you think he's generalizing the whole of Asia by saying "Asian" then you're one of the few who doesn't connect the dots. When you say "Asian", most people think of East Asia. When you say "the west", most people think of America. Example: When you say "computer", most people think of a desktop/laptop, not necessarily all computation devices in existence. Connect the dots.
@歌叶-v9e6 жыл бұрын
@@LevCallahan Because the video is basically about East Asian characteristics, not others, Southeast Asia has at most some East Asian habits, but still too much mixed with the local indigenous people and the influence of foreign Western colonization, not so pure Eastern Asian eating habits There are a few mistakes in his video 1: It's not just tea. More hot water is pure hot water 2: I don't know about Japan, Korea and Mongolia, but I'm sure that China likes to eat, not torture. I'm curious about this absurd statement 3: We like to eat vegetables cooked by chefs rather than Western vegetables with a little bit of spices that we don't need. Western vegetable practices sometimes make me wonder (no wonder Westerners hate eating vegetables)

If someone wants to refer to "East Asians" specifically, one should use the proper term. Asians is a collective term and a proper representation I think would be more credible. He did cleared up his stand on the matter still, title and script remained as it is and might still cause confusion.
@zhiqianwen4 жыл бұрын
@@mitzilaya2612 That is true, but it is just a common sense that people refer East Asians when they say they are talking about Asians, that because South East and West Asians tend to have different skin color or facial differences compared to East Asians, so most people wouldn't refer to South East Asians or West Asians as "Asians"

When I was 22, I weighed 47kg and my body-shape was great, I could fit any clothes and approximately 3 persons gave me compliments about my body. And then when I was 26, gained 5kg. I posted a photo on Facebook and everyone started to criticize my body “fat”, “round”, “like a pig”, even a long lost friend gave me a message “you’re fat”. I hate my people. They are cruel.

Just got back to Spain after 2 years in China, I can add a couple things: we have our dinner at 9pm or even later, some of my friends standard is eating at 11:30pm! while Chinese people eat at 5:30 to 7. In addition, their breakfast is well balanced (not only cereals or cookies with milk) and they have lunch at 12 so they don't starve compared to us, we both have breakfast at aprox the same time but Spaniards due to working timetables then usually wait 6-7 hours till 2 to 3 pm for the lunch, which forces us to snack in between meals. Vegetables in China are done tastily so all the foreigners who wouldn't take them back home don't need to make an effort to eating them, it's just natural as well. Chinese do eat a lot of meat but always in a broader context, they're not such "meat and taters" eaters (actually after the more refined way of eating meat in smaller portions, finely cut and well seasoned, back home meat-wise I regard ourselves as the Fintstones). They make some of the nastiest cheap deep frying but they more extensively boil and steam as cooking methods. They eat some sweets, bakery etc but they don't eat them as a dessert, as we do, for an extra insuline boost that will make us store the most of carbs and fat from the whole meal. But rather than sweets, Chinese people have a 'strange' cult for fruits, which are almost some of the most precious goods for them and they would never give them away for sweets. Also, due to the structure of their economy and land devoted to agriculture, most of the time their groceries don't have a wide offer of quality milk and dairy products with a big part of them being imported and relatively expensive, which is seen as a con, but traditionally not incorporating loads of cheese, butter or cream into their dishes has made their diet less fatty and their digestion faster too. To finish I will say Chinese, even the oldest ones, take physical activeness as a necessity and while sometimes very relaxed, they try not to miss a day. Yep...we still need to learn a lot and it's extremely pitiful given that we have a much more restrictive legislation and an all-year round supply of fresh products, no need to freeze-dry or preserve them, but the habits still don't come together.

Listen, you have the genetics of your parents, and fat is passed on through genetics, like inheriting eating habits and faster fat gain. If you inherit eating habits from them, you will be fat in the future, that's what always happens. Whether you follow their footsteps, and become fat, or decide to take your own path, learn about healthy food and exercise and become jacked is up to you my friend. I totally agree with the portion size. I was dating this Kenyan woman and one time she cooked for me. As an Asian, I was surprised by the amount of food she prepared. I was like, "Is this for lunch and dinner?" She said that it was only for lunch. Of course, I asked her if she deliberately prepared too many meals. She answered that it is just how they normally eat.

Its so shock cause my weight is still the same for 9 years since my high school.. my height stopped when I was in 4th yr highschool so I never gain weight that much since then.. I will very happy when I gain 2 kl but whenever I skip meals I easily lose weight as well.. its really hard to get fat cause even I want to eat more my stomach limit it to the point I vomit if I force it..

The vegetables one became hilariously apparent to me recently. A few weeks ago, my bf and I stayed in Seattle, and the area we were in was a short walk from an "Asian Food Center". I came to the conclusion it was legit before even walking in because on either side of it were restaurants that had no english(chinese) on their signs or menus. I believe the area we were in was primarily people of Chinese and Korean origin. We walked in, and there was some very key, noticeable differences between it and the Safeway(chain grocery store) I was used to. In a building approximately the same size: -The produce section was about 3 times the size as Safeway's -The produce was CHEAP. Super cheap, like prolly less than half the prices I was used to. -The bakery was about 1/3 the size, and expensive -There were live fish tanks. A LOT of them -On that note, the seafood section was about 5 times larger -The snacks up by the registers were sugared lotus roots and whole dried oranges -The health section was full of natural stuff (like ginseng, holy shit $240 a pound!), probiotics, and support supplements, and was severely lacking in "anti" anything. I thought I had died and went to heaven. They even had my favorite grass jelly drink. I nearly peed all over the store. Also the candied lotus roots may sound weird but I highly recommend. They taste like an earthier version of caramel, but don't stick in your teeth :D

Your info about Africa is a bit misleading and actually unnecessary to make your video. The reason why there are lower obesity rates in Africa isn't simply because of "famine" lol. Also you might be surprised to know that factually speaking, Asia is the continent with the most malnutritioned people in the world (two thirds of the worlds hungriest people to be precise). What you did there is like someone making a video about why African tribes are historically known to have lower obesity rates and in the process throw out some low shade to Asians "we all know why Asians have low obesity rates, it's because most of the malnutritioned people in the world live there". All this to say, you don't need to put down another group of people in order to uplift another or to make your point. Aside from that I did enjoy watching your video format.
@ron94038 жыл бұрын
His video was not accurate at all. Black Africans usually have a low fat metabolism and muscular bodies. It has nothing to do with poverty and famine. This guy only focuses on East Asians and Europeans anyway.

Nah, I eat very small portions. Partly because of some stomach problems, partly because I'm a chef, and food has become work and not enjoyment, and also because I don't work out much (just a lot of walking (especially at work)) so I don't need too many calories to fill myself.

Most americans don't cook at home and when they do its not typically...well...good food. Mashed potatoes, peas, rice, a piece of BBQ steak. I've seen some American "homemade" dishes and yeah, they're not appetizing as some rarer, but delicious actual homemade food.

I am very sure that we from this side of the globe could greatly benefit from more eastern eating traditions. I have much respect from your traditions, as many of westerns also have.

Danny 95 im from Colombia, and since we are little we learn to eat fruits. There are tons of fruits everywhere, i didnt know that was a thing until a foreign friend told me she doesnt eat to many fruits in her country cause the taste is different and is also expensive. Probably you just couldnt find a fruit you like, but i hope you will.

I eat vegetables and fish almost all year-round. And we eat very less beef. In fact, the spicy is the most unique in Asian food not only vegetables or fish. I don't know the reason why most of Asians are not as fat as some europeans. But some of the westerners said you won't getting fat if you still eat this. Just skip this kind of food and eat like we do.

Can I just make it clear that most of these points about "Western" habits are nearly all AMERICAN. Here in EUROPE, it's a different story. Compare southern European countries. Most meals will contain vegetables or salad etc. e.g. Italian food, contrary to the stereotypes, is not just carbs, but in fact features a lot of vegetables, lean meat, and fish. Also, the point about driving everywhere doesn't apply here. Go to almost any city and Europe, and you will spend a lot of your time walking around. I live in London, and the mjajority of my friends here (as well as myself) do not even own a car. The idea of driving around in a city sounds quite strange to me as I'm used to them having decent public transport. Also, most of your points about "Asian" culture seemed very geared towards EAST ASIAN cultures, where the eating habits are very different to say Southern Asian cultures. Also, go and talk to a Malaysian about food and tell me that eating isn't perceived as an exciting pleasure over there. I'm not trying to have a go because I found this video very interesting and well thought-out. But as a European, I get sick and tired of being given the "Western" label which is nearly always American. The "Western world" also covers Europe, which is an extremely diverse collection of cultures and traditions. Our lives here are, on the most part, very very different to the US.

It was incredibly shocking for me to come back to America from my 4+ month vacation in Tokyo and Thailand back in 2004. After having eaten so well, so healthily, and having walked so much (and lost weight!), to sit down with my family and watch them just STUFF their faces is a memory I won't ever forget. We really are pigs here in America and yes, we treat food as entertainment and don't have a clue how to prepare veggies the way the Thais or the Japanese do. I wish I could move to Tokyo. It was awesome. Super expensive though. Great vid! Subbed.

I’m 100% Cambodian, and I only drink cold/ice water. Maybe, that’s why my stomach is always growling even if I’m not hungry. But, honestly warm/room temperature water doesn’t feel right to me. Every time I drink warm water, I feel weird. That’s why I’ve only ever drink cold water. Does anyone else only like cold water?
