Rdr is a brilliant game , but the pvp is horrendous and boring to say the least everyone using the same weapon doing the same thing every match which is a sniper from across the map or dynamite arrow it if you get close you get reduced to atoms from that op dual short double barrel, doesn't matter if you're in a pvp series or in free roam the fights always will be snipers, i took a break from battlefield and warzone to have fun just to be slapped in the face with this boring meta in this game, no matter how much kills i get when playing pvp i never once felt rewarded of getting em because it literally takes zero skill .

Thank you for making this video! We need more people addressing these kinds of problems with the game. Also, a solution for cheaters/glitchers, is to practice with free aim and no aim assist. When you encounter one of these players, go defensive; they usually have a very hard time killing you because it forces them to free aim. It's actually pretty funny because they get so mad about it. I'm pretty sure defensive works as a counter for cronus users as well, but i'm not positive about that.

I always saw pvp more dependent on just ability cards and like 2 guns. Just have a good combination of maxed out ability cards, use carcano or lancaster and that's it. Personally I try just using duel navy revolvers only to make it more of a challenge otherwise I'm just gonna snipe someone repeatedly.

I always thought that RDO should have had a permanent PVP playlist since launch that did not have any cards, consumables, special ammo or aim assist lock on, and every player would have had same amount of hp/stam/deadeye. I think using your own weapons and having regular aim assist slow down near target would still have been fine. I would have played PVP a lot more if there was such a mode, and I think PVP would have been more popular in general. I did enjoy hardcore when people actually still played it, but the limited weapon selection meant that it was just everyone running around with double barrel.

Only a very small number of players are not cheaters in my opinion just like real life in most situations nowadays, mostly everyone wants quick satisfaction without hardly doing anything/work to earn it.

While I do typically play for an hour or so every day, I have an actual life and job and stuff so I'm not dedicated to becoming a full-on terminator 😆 That said, I have been watching my fair share of anti-griefer videos and applying the techniques I see them use. My kill ratios have gone up enough that I'm usually running griefers out of Valentine.

@@ncrranger402 paint it black is fine, yeah it gives extra aim assist but it’s nearly one of the only cards in the game that feels authentic to being a fast and accurate gunslinger. It’s better than slippery it slow and steady any day. Plus the fact that you have no defence with paint it black, you still have to dive, get cover or just be a quicker shot overall. It’s much better than hiding behind an invisible force field or tanking 10 bullets to the face.

PVP is a joke in both Red Dead and GTA5, example the players level in a mixed free mode lobby GTA5 no max health until lvl 100, in Red Dead its the ability cards and weapons as well as level. One reason im mot excited about GTA6 , because it will be exactly the same. Plus the Cheaters and glitches that are exploits that R* Refuse to fix.

Honestly I don't think it's funny that they focused on PVP. It is a way of the player driving most of the content and easy to make small designs they can charge for. What takes more effort? Designing a story with well thought out plot and characters or a weapon re-skin/ variant and maybe a new item/ amo? There is a reason that it's p2p and that the online story was left hanging. That said the pvp could have been a lot better if they were to act on the point in this video...

Idk bout the situation now, but back when the game was still getting updates most folks werent into PVP, even R* came out and said their PVP modes barely got traffic in an interview. Not to mention this game was far more passive than GTAO where most players ignored each other. Nowhere near as agressive.

If you go full free aim on console for a while (no lock on, no aim assist, "real hardcore") you would see the difference. Aim assist definitely does feel like auto aim after that, it's just way too strong and easy to be hardcore lmao. There's lots of free aimers (without aim assist) on console, so it wouldn't make the game unplayable, it just needs practise and skill. :D

I mostly free aim in free roam pvp and hardcore modes, sometimes I turn on auto aim if there's too many players against me lol. I still always try free aim first. And I know many players who also do the same as I do, so I'm not the only one lol So basically, it's NOT unplayable if you train yourself to free aim, it's hard but doable with enough patience on learning. I understand players can be too fast with their movement, but you learn to aim at them if you just try learn. So don't say it's unplayable when you haven't tried it enough. 👀

Great watch as always 🙏🏿. It's also confused me over the years why Rockstar didn't fix the issues when they wanted RDO to be PVP focused. They basically needed to separate PVE and PVP completely I think in order for them to have a good PVP and PVE split that would then satisfy both crowds. That way those who lose PVP have a balance when they go into these modes and then for the rest of us who don't really care for PVP we don't get penalised by these balances when we are just enjoying PVE.

I just meant in terms of actually improving the matchmaking and balancing in those modes themselves so you sort of have PvP players getting their wish and having no compromises and vice versa for the rest of us in PVE we just have the game as is without any compromises for PVP so not to necessarily separate the two crowds coz people have days when they wanna PVP and people have days when they wanna PVE but to basically nurture the two environments. Coz I think RDO was never gonna really nurture itself the way GTA Online did coz Red Dead was always a more slower paced calmer game as the cliché goes meanwhile in GTA everything is about one upping each other and you only really get the laid back calm nature in maybe RP server's.

Although I don't think as a whole they are in danger coz unfortunately generations keep recycling every other year that's how something like GTA Online has had so much longevity and I imagine when GTA 6 comes they are going to take a similar approach. Just a shame that they've seemingly neglected the art and passion of what used to make them the greatest storytellers and with some of the legendary story DLC they used to do. But I can sort of see why they'd abandon that model when you can basically print money with some of the liver service stuff they got from GTA Online. So it's sort of one of those things where as a fan of their games I wish for them to go back to their old self but as a realist I can basically see a lot of studios and developers trying to find that live service cash cow and just riding it until the wheels fall off.

The lack of balanced PVP in RDO wouldn't of been such a disappointment if I hadn't played RDR1's multiplayer and seen how much better Rockstar have done in regards to PVP balancing in the past. RDR1's PVP wasn't perfect by a long shot but it did a far better job of being a fun, competitive and skill based environment even with the limitations of the time.

The RDO free roam pvp loop: random player starts a fight with you, they lose, they call in all their friends, they keep losing, they escalate to exploits and crutch mechanics, they still lose, they finally leave, and you get salty fan mail for days trying to gaslight you about what just happened to cope with being beaten like the red headed step child of a rented mule in a game with completely broken combat.

nah its so obvious who's loading mods or what ever you want to call cheating in RDO I actually like legit PVP it can get squirrelly, and even if its a paint it black show down its still kind of fun, most people aren't cheating and sometimes people just get bored and initiate pvp. I will SAY I had some modder/hacker do something to suddenly ramp up my hostility to the point I got player retrievable bounty the other day, I was just riding around in west elizabeth and suddenly started taking hostility notifications multiple times a second. I was super confused and made it to camp realizing that players were now coming for me (the game told me as much) I had to survive 5 minutes, but luckily I was at camp, couple dudes started pouring in but they were trying to take me alive and cripps had my back, after 4 minutes of me and cripps fucking these dudes up one of the guys trying to get my bounty finally had the brains to stop and paint it black with a rifle against me. I lost with like 40s seconds left and I lost 100$. It was unfair, it was stressful, but it was fun. I've got a ticket asking rockstar for my $100 back because my bounty was cause by exploits but man for 4 minutes I had a legit blast.

Never played RDO PvP in years, tried 3 days ago against 2 players, both invencible and generating lots of weird stuff like horses paws in fire and glowing effects... i will never play PvP again.

There definitely needs to be an option for skill matchmaking lobbies and Health Tonics should’ve never been added to the game. Like if anything a slight healing system similar to GTA 5. Red dead has plenty hills and places you take cover behind, you really don’t need healing tonics… you can’t even have a fun PVP experience without a player going behind something or taking cover to heal. Now GTA 5’s biggest PVP problem is BST seriously lol

Im not a pvp player, two days ago I was in a friendly pvp match with my posse and got destroyed! it was 2-7, but both of the posse members were going after me for some reason, so it was a 2 on 1 fight. I've been wanting to get better with pvp in rdo but I feel like its just not for me, im a grinder and not really interested in competition, anyway. There were good points being made, I just wish Rockstar would fix the bugs and exploits that go on in pvp that make it unfair.

The best pvp battles is when u come across other players who play fair having a battle going on for days in game..best one i had started in valentine,ended up in the grizzlies and after battle we all head to the shack..Good times

Call me a casual, but I actually enjoy the auto aim on console mainly because aiming on console is trash to begin with. The most fun I had in pvp was before the changes to the cards and especially movement. It was all about how fast you could aim and pull the trigger. Now it feels very Arcady and goofy. Sure it was simple and the skill ceiling was low, but all they had to do was add hardcore lobbies for people wanting to be more competitive.

Me personally I just use slippery and sniper rifle and just literally make the fight unfair for them, paint it black kids and tank builds cry because I can hit them with 100% accuracy but they literally couldn't hit me if I stood still and let them, funny thing is they move around fast and strafe like they think they good but I just stand still and instant hsadshot them after they miss 47 rounds and if someone pulls out a sniper back on me or breaks my slippery with any type of scope weapon I just parley and call them trash and go after someone that's not using sniper

I totally appreciate the players who join free roam events as a posse. It's very hard to beat a group in something like Rail Road Barron when they are working together. Not really a glitch or cheat, just great planning on their part.

3:09 is so spot on. I love the idea that someone thinks they are just so much more "skilled" than someone else. Skill in gaming lol to me, means you have played something a fuck-ton. I'll say it this way any game that I've been really good at and better then most of my friends, family, online, I Played a lot. A lot more than most ergo +THAT'S WHY I WAS GOOD. It's not like you have some kind of superior hand eye coordination that is so much better than the next person you know or you have so much strategic skill in your mind you know it's just not it's not that's not how it works but I love the people that think that way

The funniest thing about cheaters, is that after they unfairly wreak you they will tell you to "go get good"....🤣🤣 Cheaters are just losers who got beat fairly so they bought cheats instead of actually getting good. I deleted a few old friends on playstation because they started using cronos, on top of that, listened to them talk with MANY other players discussing what scripts they are using. Just imagine how pathetic you have to be to cheat on a game that already gives you aimlock and an added aimbot (PIB)...

Yeah I wish there were unique rewards for pvp and pve. I played swtor and it had those. I don't see much reason for pvp modes aside from fun bc I can earn more money and gold by free roam, trader, bh, etc

Lol see, rockstar _will ban some modders,_ the ones that drop money and gold, the only good ones. Modders can blow up and destroy lobbies for years though and rockstar wont do anything to them. Ive seen all this and more on GTAV PS3. And yes Rockstar absolutely just shares youre IP. I used to get DDoS'd on a daily basis playing GTAV PvP. Sore losers. I called my ISP once snd they transferred me to a supervisor that told me "Well if you dont wanna get DDoS'd you shouldn't talk to people games!"

(Xbox player), Back in the day, I actually liked PvP time to time when there were fair fights. But the cheating got worse. As soon as I see some funny business, I stop fighting because it doesn’t make any sense to continue. As long as R* doesn't fix Off Radar and Defensive Mode and doesn't care about people using Cronus, I won't care about PvP. Also, regarding being AFK in showdowns, many people may not know this, but I think with the Naturalist update, there was something interesting in the patch notes. Players who stayed AFK in horse races (so they would end up with Did Not Finish) wouldn't receive any XP, money, and gold anymore. Literally, a few months before that update, I showed R* a few videos of a big group of the same people who stayed AFK in horse races during 4 or 3x bonus on XP, money, and gold, and even though they DNF, they received the payouts. It's kind of weird they cared to change that for horse races, something that isn't even popular in the game, while the AFK problem in showdowns and the cheating is just continuing without them even caring about it. And that was a few years ago while they still ‘cared’, so yep, I don’t think they ever will.
