My only concern is that the world still looks a bit empty. There barely seem to be any NPCs you can talk to aside from the romanceable characters, so I would like to see more about the interactions and characters after we build the village

I'm super happy you addressed my one question I had about the weapon types on twitter in this video! As someone who shows my excitement for games by making an OC and making a ton of art as I wait for the release, knowing if I could have certain weapons is important to me cause I want my drawings to be accurate-ish. lol. I do wonder if there will be an auto sort feature for the infinite inventory. I defo would like to have that if I constantly have access to EVERYTHING. On the note of a house, even if we don't need it for storage, I would still really like to have one for decorating and such. I also feel like we will have a house since marriage and kids. It would be odd for us to have a baby and just be like "okay little Timmy. I know you're 2 weeks old but it's off to the fields with you cause we don't have a house." I'm also super excited to see all the sacred treasures and what their powers are. I hope we get some really pretty dance animations.

I spent 230+ hours on RF5 in switch, beat the game multiple times, literally just to pursue other romance candidates in multiple save files to see their stories. (Still playing from time to time). Im not that particular with framerate drops in rf5 but more inclined towards good plot & villagers relationship. But seeing GOA graphics improvement is really a nice touch as I understand the community’s concern over the years. My only complaint is RF5 was too easy combat-wise & main plot is too cliche (I’ve played multiple rpgs over the years). What im really hoping is GoA have longer and better storylines, and includes interesting interactions amongst the villagers just like in RF4. Im in the minority here but if someone asks whether I like RF5, I’d say “Yes”. It has its flaws, but considering Rf5 gave me the urge to buy my switch back then, it’s a game that’s very dear to me. Plus, Alice is such a cute protagonist 😄, just like rf4 Frey. Anyways, GoA is a day one purchase for me! Really looking forward to it.

I think I really need to give the game another chance. I liked what I played but I was not that invested in the story, plus the bad framerate and the boring town layout botherd me a bit. I dropped it when some monsters in a dungeon one shottet me with some insta death move. I wanted to go back to the game but I never did.

One of the things I'm most excited for is that the romanceable character look like they're actually adults! This was a... problem, to say the least, with some of them in Rune Factory 4 and especially in Rune Factory 5

It was especially true on 5. Sort of. All the female partners, with one exception, looked way younger than the pc. All the guys likewise looked way older with one exception. New game looks more consistent with their character, and im all for it

That was a great video by Marvelous. We get to ride dragons. I haven't had any serious graphic problems with Rune Factory. It looks like they put some effort into this with more content. So happy, their design team is still top notch. Characters all look well designed. It has been a rough 2024. So excited to see RF is only improving but using the recipe that we hope for. I am looking forward to the Asian design for a change of pace.

I loved the decorating in Harvest Moon a new beginning but sometimes it was a bit clunky an limited. Here it looks like a much better experience. The most important part in games are for me always the characters so I like it that there seems to be even more in depth character interactions. Some said you can stay friends with some character and it doesn't have to become romantic. A critique I had in the past that every bond at a certain point automatically becomes romantic. I like to have some platonic relationship that were lost when everyone becomes a dating option. Bringing old character back is always a plus. It makes the world feel more alive. We don't have much worldbuilding in these games but it feels nice that time is really moving forward between the games.

I can't wait for 30. May. This looks so good and like a upgrade on everything that put me off in Rune Factory 5. I especially love the new character interactions (the animations, camera-angle and overall tone) and the building-aspect. Without anything to *really* decorate (what we could do in RF5 was to me so ugly that I couldn't be bothered with it :D) I kinda missed a goal to grind towards to in RF5. Thank you for the video! :)

A bit sad about them nerfing the soil/farming elements of the game, I always found the farming (though tedious and annoying in some ways) in RF games to have a really satisfying and engaging gameplay loop, the leveling of tools/seeds/soil and other soil qualities being a big part of that. I’m still very excited, this already looks like a really neat advancement and take on the RF series. It looks much better than RF5.

very excited for village builder and decoration, i always felt like this was missing from rf, while other games like harvest moon and stardew have it. for the farming, I'm glad they removed the soil health stuff, but I'm concerned over there not being normal tools, it'll take some getting used to, also i noticed the character isn't tilling, but just "placing" tilled soil from the inventory, i hope it"s not limited bc in the previous games you can till your whole farm

Rf4 special is a good starting point to get used to the gameplay loop. You just have to talk to your mailbox for tutorial quests. Just like any farming sim raising friendships gives you more requests and moves the story along. Rf5 actually seems to have a less complicated and shorter story but I get lost with 3d graphics and prefer fixed cameras.

I just need the game to hold my hand and RF I just have a hard time finding the hand 😂

I think farming in rune factory 5 is only chaotic for people who do it carelessly without thinking and planning things in their heads carefully. I also prefer longer days. I also always ran out of time even in Rune factory 5 because because there are things you can do forever if you want and also it takes time to run between places each day to collect the rarer respawning collectables each day.

Hi Josh! Thanks for condensing all the news into one straight forward video! that's awesome! I can't wait to play this! It looks so much better and I love the quality of life improvements like inventory/placing furniture- That shows me they aren't afraid to break old rules and are really thinking about the player and trying to optimize the experience as much as possible which is awesome!. Graphics and gameplay look fantastic. I like that ALTHOUGH there are no character portraits-3D models look alive and animate well so far. I am picking up the collectors edition on switch :) My biggest hope is the characters have in-depth development story-lines like in rf4! But unlike in rf4 and rf5- romance events will be easier to trigger and track! I have a confession... although I have completed both games I stiiiiiill haven't married anyone in rf4 and rf5!!!! my boy Ryker in rf5 because I stopped playing between swooning him and now I can't remember what or WHERE the last event was and another character has an event probably in the same location so he is off the map! Also in RF4, I'm still a bloody bachelorette because Arthurs marriage event won't trigger even when I reset a million times. I'll keep trying but PLLLLLLLEASE CAN I FINALLY GET MARRIED IN AZUMA????!!!!!

It was said by someone else, but I think it bears repeating. I really like that most of the marriage candidates now look like grown persons instead of being underage. I always felt my choices were limited in past games to one or two characters because all the rest looked like they were barely into their teens. From what I've seen here, that's much less of an issue. Even the, ah, more modestly figured ladies still feel and look like they're at the age of maturity.

Mostly played RF4 and didn't really play RF5 much, but considering some of the changes, does this also mean that there will be less town events that focus on your farming capabilities such as cooking competitions or crop competitions, will this version start focusing more and more on the rpg / adventure aspect of the rune factory series? If it does i don't know if I can get behind it, as i liked those events.

I'm definitely excited. I really did like rf5. I had rf4 on both 3ds and switch but it was honestly too hard for me. I haven't played video games for long and I'm not the best with combat. Rf5 was the first time I did well and progressed so far. SoS I'm great at, no combat, Rune Factory is another story. I really do think that rf5 was a good one to bring new people into the series, especially people who hadn't been playing for years like others in the community. I am still going to try my hand at this one and hope that they did learn from rf5 and keep the easy mode easy, but up the other mods for more veteran players who can handle combat. That way everyone can enjoy it. Also really looking forward to what rf6 would be like.

If story's good, farming's good and i can grind many skills and become op i'll love this game. And hell yeah, they revamped character events to be manually initiated unless i got this wrong, that whole thing in previous games(well, 4 and 5 anyway) is what made me want not to bother with the romance since i'd either have to open game wiki or guess whose event takes place where at which time. Not gonna get my expectations too high but i also do hope we'll get more post-game combat content than in 5, too.

I can't believe this spin-off game looks way better and more polished than Rune factory 5. This game needs to do amazing because we need these changes for the mainline series for Rune Factory 6. I have played every rune factory game and I could not finish RF5. I rage quit when I encountered that one scantily dressed character looked like she was six, in an already weak and bad story. RF5 was so inspiring in all aspects. The only thing I liked was most of the guys and the crafting system. Now to decide which platform to get this for. And yes please do a deep dives on companies. I think it's important to educate players on who is making the games so we understand why they are the way they are.

I wish for the original rune factory to be remade for updated generation. I also hope that (not sure if this will) for future RF games that the protagonist gets their own house instead of using a space in x location. That was kind of one of the let downs of RF5 having to use the space above instead of a normal house to expand. The furniture placement was also driving me crazy to with the games and nothing aligning right!

If going on a date would be similar to Song of the Prairie it would be so nice!! We could choose a location and then collect affection points from doing various activities like sitting on a bench, holding hands, having deep conversations, making jokes, hugging... but my hopes aren't high because we could already see many of those activities as part of the other option. I think Rf Oceans is a better comparison than Rf5. From the combat and being able to jump to trying out new things their seem to be a lot of similarities. (Also, while they aren't farming games, if you want a cosy game that does travelling around well- both atelier ayesha and atelier firis can really make you feel like you're travelling)

I'm loving it so far, I like RF5 a lot it just run bad on the Switch. If they ever make a remake for PS5 I'll buy again. RF:GOA seems so cool and I'll definitely spend a lot of hours into it but i won't be making the same mistakes of getting it for Switch. If it comes to Playstation then yeah otherwise they're not getting my $ 😅.

Hmm, that would be really disappointing if the town was like a glorified menu though so I hope we can at least enter our own house (if there is one). After seeing the Switch gameplay, that really eased my worries after the nightmare that was Switch RF5. Nonethless I'm sure many will still prefer PC version since they MUST have that 60 FPS or its "unplayable" in their eyes. I however dont mind 30 fps if its stable and this has really shown it.

Absolutely love rf5 and it was my favorite rf game. I know for a lot of people it didnt meet expectations and that's definitely understandable. GOA looks to be trying out a lot of new things and honestly it looks amazing. Im a huge fan of the character designs (on par or better than rf5 for me which is my #1 for designs) and the graphics are much much better. I'm also excited to hear that there is so much effort put into the story and character relationships. I really hope they turn out to be great. While there are lots of things to enjoy in rune factory, the story is always what kept me fully invested in the world and characters. As long as its pretty good, I'll be happy. Rf5 did a pretty good job on the main story even if it was short, an okay job on dialogue, and a great job on character events, but I'm hoping GOA will be rf4 tier or better when it comes to story and the amount of dialogue. I'm very happy to see the rf series continue and so strongly at that! I really hope you make the video about the development as it seems very interesting!

I was honestly SOOOOOO disappointed with RF5, i legitimately thought i wasted my money and that my "support" for the game was going to make the developers feel as though they could keep getting away with sloppy, aged mechanics and gameplay. I am cautiously optimistic about Azuma, but im definitely not buying the game at launch day like i did with RF5. I really hope it does well and surprises me

I played RF5 at Launch on my Switch, and while I enjoyed it, the performance was extremely frustrating to deal with. While I'd prefer to play cozy games on my Switch, I'll have to buy on PC this go around. Perhaps Switch 2 will fix that issue!

My biggest worry is difficultly. In RF 3 and 4 I remember playing hard mode and taking at least 4-5 tries to beat bosses especially the first boss but in RF5 I beat the first boss on hard mode with absolute ease. Also anyone else notice how there weren't any gates?

After RF5 burned us on Switch I'll opt for going straight for the Steam release this time. Here's to hoping they actually support the game on PC for a change and not just release it without any updates 😶

Okay the farming and crafting mechanics look way better. I stopped playing RF5 because of different gameplay mechanics like farming, crafting, and pacing (it was a slog). I am still going to wait and watch gameplay from players before I decide to add it to my back log.

What i missed in 5 will not be in azuma im afraid. One big reason i loved 4 so much was daily daiologue it made me feel like the city was alive in 5 at some point i didnt bother talking with anyone other than the candidates

As you were saying, Rune Factory 5 was essentially the first game in a new line of Rune Factory. It was also the first 3d game. Sure, it had some issues, but it was definitely a solid start to continue this wonderful game series! I am looking forward to Guardians and to RF6 when it releases!
