This remains one of my favorite videos - so much I’m rewatching after my recent 2 trips to the $ store after getting inspired 😊. My additions: Turkey baster, shower caddies for carrying around food and tools, shoe boxes/desk organizers for organizing food and bottles so they don’t tip, long slotted spoon for sifting through my sand/ gravel mix in one tank to pull the little gravel rocks up, and salt and pepper shakers for my dried bugs and micro foods for feeding fry numerous times a day. You guys are adorable together ❤️

I love to paint my aquariums black and so far I’ve had no problem reselling them, but your idea 💡 is a pretty good one. Even though I don’t know why anyone would not want to paint the back of their aquarium I realize there are different strokes for different folks. I think I’ll try that alternative for my next tanks. However stacked tanks will still get their bottoms painted.

Because of this post, I just looked at the wrapping paper, but it was really a thicker craft paper, I wasn't paying attention. It had an AWESOME rock pattern. SCORE! Thanks! Easy and cheap! @@itscindylouu9347Hey there, it literally took washing them with hottt water so many times. That coating was sooo hard to get off. It took a couple of hours of rinsing and churning it around inside of a tote. You can try dividing the stones, putting them into pots and boil the stuff off as well. Do it a couple of times and see how they clean up. That may speed up the process.

They may not be tempered though so be careful of sharp edge but a little sand paper to round over the edges helps wear gloves while you sand and support the glass so it don't break that could be hazardous. Guess who knows?. I lay them on my work bench with just a little edge hanging off the bench.

In the kids summer toys section they have "water squirters" that are basically like a two foot suction tube with an opening that is about a half inch in diameter. It kinda looks like a giant, skinny crayon, but it is essentially a large syringe. The full tube holds a little over a cup of water. These things are perfect for spot sucking debris from all over the tank. They are long and easier than getting out the gravel vac for smaller jobs. You can also reverse the water and blast gunk out of harder spots. I can't live without these things now. I have one at every tank and use them exclusively to do water changes on anything smaller than ten gallons or any bare bottom tanks. They also make shorter ones but I don't find those to be as useful. They also sell cheap butterfly nets that come in handy for all kinds of applications as well.

I have been using most of the suggested items for years- love Dollar Tree. I have used glass as tank covers, it is very thin and easily breaks (like when my cat jumped on it LOL), but sometimes they have plexiglass frames that hold up well on top of a smaller tank. Here are some more ideas: Epsom salt for baths (obviously not the scented), big butterfly nets for catching fish (I even found one with a telescope handle), tealight warmers as Betta hides (be careful with the holes so the fish don't get stuck), and silk plants as tank decorations if you can't use real plants (you can even pull out the wire to make them more flexible). And yes, all for a dollar each!!!

Clear plastic soap dishes with two large suction cups attached _ and removable_ in back for plants to hang on sides of aquarium glass. Sweet, but you may need to change the suction cups eventually. I do like that they are clear plastic, $1 and from the folk @ The Dollar Tree of course. Sweet place to shop for many of your aquarium needs. Plastic scrubbers 4 or 5 for a dollar. Stack with uplift tube in center for bio filtration D.I.Y.

Great video! Grabbed some salt from the home improvement store, now I can go get some buckets from the dollar store. Though I use a 50/50 white vinegar/water solution to clean the glass on my fish tanks. Costs me about .12 cents for each spray bottle of 30 oz. I like that I don't have to worry about over spray hurting the fish or wondering if the guys remembered to spray the rag not the tank, etc. It's pretty basic. (LOL!) Though I couldn't help but notice Joanna is wearing a PTA shirt with glitter on it. Didn't see that shirt in your merch store the other day....just saying....I bet on a black shirt it would really pop...or even on a steel gray.... ;)

Found some all plastic, small springy bag clips. Glue a suction cup on and instant veggie, seaweed holder for tank wall. NINE for a dollar Jason!!! So who cares if they eventually break. Lifetime supply. Also in the arts & crafts section found some mini acrylic pots- 1.25 x 1.25 inches. I use the Fluval Stratum that is lightweight and a pain to keep stems plants down. Drilled a few small holes in the side and bottom for the roots to escape, filled with some substrate. Keeps them down and Cichlids can't uproot them. These also have lids so if you have cuttings that don't have an established root system, drill holes through lid and carefully feed through. Bury in substrate. OR, just cut an X in the lid, wiggle back and forth to loosen the grip up (don't want to cut the stems) and bury in stratum. Found a bit larger version for my tiger lotus so I can pull it up and keep the massive root system in check from time to time. Good to store my mixed Repashy foods in. Agreed-LOTS of useful items at the buck store - turkey basters, clay pots, on and on. Just takes some imagination. I also spend a lot of time looking and thinking. I'm sure they think I must be stealing things as no one spends that much time at a dollar store, looking in every department. Also, not $ store but go to your local landscape supply company for rocks. They usually have a section of small cut off pieces. OR buy a large piece and cut how you want with a grinder.

So i know this video is almost two years old but dollar tree now carries adhesive vinyl for crafting! I use the black ones to "black out" my back glass! now its "$1.25 Tree" for you can probably do a couple nano tanks with one roll. One tip is if you know how they apply window tints, make sure to spray down the glass with soapy water before applying so you can adjust and avoid bubbles. Then use a credit card to squeegee out excess water and then use a razor to trim to fit! You mentioned you clip paper to the backs but try this too! so clean looking!

good video guys FYI i’ve had fish tanks for more than 35 years from 2 gallons up to 2500 gallons and those razor bled handles can easily be attached to a piece of PVC pipe by cutting a slit in one end and then you don’t need to stick your arm into the tank to clean the glass i also apply a small amount of fish tank silicone to sort of glue the handle into the slot btw if you need a better angle for a specific tank you can usually bend PVC pipe with a heat gun the Dollar Store used to sell a plastic handle for holding utility knife blades als that i just simply duct taped to a cheap peice of PVC Pipe i got at a hardware store the pipe itself is very inexpensive and of course it doesn’t rust being plastic i do also buy sponges with the scrubbing pads on one side to clean my glass if you want to know one other inexpensive fish tank hack i’ve been using for years is i simply paint the back outside of my tanks before i set them up instead of using store bought back drops i prefer a dark blue and. a quart will do many tanks plus gives the tanks a nice look to them IMO that hack works on glass or Acrylic tanks and a good cheap paint can be bought and tinted at a Walmart who i’ve been told has Sherwin Williams. makes their store brand paint

I use those paint cups as hatchery, just cut the bottom of the handle, add sponge and hang them on a stick in the aquarium flat side towards the glass then use a pump to trickle water into it.

That energy a dude gives off when they realize they can shop for cheap; that's a good feeling. I swear I can see bub think "Aww, that's a good idea! Wish I thought of that!", 😂

I was just there today! Bought some “Scrub Buddies” scouring pads for my HOB filter. 8 pack of 4x6” pads. I also picked up the bag of rocks.
