Spot on with florals and pastels. They do tend to have a way of making us look older. As for skirt length, I’m a former ballet dancer in my sixties and still have shapely and well defined legs (still doing ballet classes 3-4x/week). I tend to wear shorter skirts, just above the knee in winter with black opaques and black boots or low heels. In summer, I opt for more length for bare legs. Also like a tasteful slit in any season.

Always on spot, in our rural area women my age tend to wear polyester suits or look like farmers! I like to wear natural fabrics as much as possible in simple silhouettes! I check you out for good tips!

I love the white top. Every year, influencers put out videos for clothes and say this will never go out of style. Then it does. Now that everyone loves their neutrals, the fashion industry wants everyone to buy bright colors. Why don't we just not follow the fashion industry changes? They change things to try and force us to buy more crap that will change very soon, so they can keep making loads of money. I can't keep up. Can you?

Look into Pilates! I decided that if my body was going to change, it was going to be for the better! I bought a used Pilates reformer at the start of COVID19 and it has transformed my body. I am 65 and in the best shape of my life.

I loved the leopard blouse on you! My summer look. White and pale gray. White on white. And gold jewelry. I have been wearing a couple 18K gold bracelets that I have had for over 20 years. One is a big chain style link that has a brushed finish. Made in Italy. The other is fine detailed macrame looking style. I haven’t worn them in years, but with the white pants and tops, I have fallen in love with them again. Great tips here. Thanks!

Great tips as always, very helpful! About skirt length: maybe cover your knees if they are a bit lined or wrinkled and avoid hemlines that stop at the widest point of your calf (go very flowy or else raise or lower the hem an inch or two).

Chunky shoes are in style so show one is not out of touch as some older people are. Also, one has to consider proportions - if you are larger boned or have large feet, delicate shoes can only emphasize this point in their contrast. Surely non-chunky are elegant on many, though.

Great video Frederique! You make everything so much fun and I like how you're not offensive when you give advice. I agree that pastel colors are not flattering - I used to wear them but definitely no more. I liked you in the white blouse, but think you still rocked that Leopard print but maybe smaller print spots would be better. Leopard or animal prints are fine, I like them, but it's more edgy and classy when used in small amounts - like sexy shoes, a belt, a scarf or a small bag just not all at the same time 😆. At any age, I think clothes should flatter your body shape, proportions and colouring. I see a lot of younger women walking around in outfits that don't flatter them, that with a few adjustments would. Obviously, each decade that passes, we have to make adjustments to lifestyle etc, and age as our bodies change. Also, there are exceptions to every rule. I don't like floral prints generally, but sometimes there is that one dress in the right shape, colours and print that just looks great on me. Pastels, maybe just a shell pink or very pale blue shirt under a dark jacket can look nice. Generally, I think simplify the look as you get older, so less embellishment, frills etc, more streamlined, more subtle colours, attention to details and more comfort, makes you look and feel better. I cannot wear heels, only more balanced wedges and platforms (occasionally) and I defy you to be comfortable in heels in the 40 degree heat we have here at the moment, let alone the slippery marble cobbled streets! But good luck to you if you can. I am more concerned that I keep my feet and back healthy at 66. But there is a great choice of flatter or slightly higher flatforms, you can find footwear that gives you a bit of height but is flattering as well. What I am sick of is fashion trends. Yes, you can look modern without looking ridiculous, leave that to the very young, but often the harder you try at any age, the worse you look. I've seen most of them in several versions, with very slight variations. The best thing about getting older is you do learn what suits you, you learn how to tweak it and you can simplify the whole process.

Knowing your color palette is so important. It doesn’t just mean the colors you look best in but knowing that you shouldn’t go darker than your darkest feature. Pastels look awesome on some people. For example, I look best in grayed navy vs black and rock medium pastels. Burgundy makes me look sick.

I have my yearly eye dr. next week & I've really been liking the frames like yours. For the past ten years I've stuck with the darker rectangular, either black or the most recent in tortuous shell, I think it's time for something new :) I do have contacts but I really only put one in when I'm going someplace for the majority of the day or having company, otherwise it's the glasses or nothing at all. Frédérique , could you do a video on coloring or not coloring your hair? I just don’t know what to do… I have been using a semi permanent hair color because I have almost black hair, and I was getting some streaks very small though but noticeable of gray. I like the fact that the semi permanent can wash out slowly if I do decide to let it go gray, but I don’t see hardly any fashion KZbinrs over 50 with gray hair. Except for Beth! Thoughts?

I like your idea of wearing linens in hotter months... I live in Hawaii and when it's sunny outside, it's almost impossible not to work up a noticeable sweat. You can probably relate to that kind of weather too! :)) I have a muscular/athletic/thicker body type (Japanese & German descent) and my calves are seriously never going to look like a fashion model's, so I'm curious what kind of shoes you'd recommend for me if not the platform sandals or espadrilles which I find comfortable and more fashionable than sneakers (although I love my leather Lacoste sneakers made in France!) or flip flops?
