I work in HR and this is ALWAYS a nightmare. They are either in each other’s face all day or bringing their issues to work. THEN, we have to hear all the details when it starts falling apart. My advice is DON’T DO IT. Trust me, it’s not worth it!

In that case, you and the HRM need to have a candid conversation for rules of engagement at work and what happens if you end up in HR for a work-related issue. Also, you may want to keep it quiet or minimize who knows about the relationship. My advice is proceed with caution.

When you break up, you’re stuck seeing them every day. As well as- seeing them flirt with other people, hearing them talk about the people they like or are dating, having their new partner come into work to see them, having to see them with their new partner at all the company gatherings. You’ll want to quit, or will quit, so you don’t have to be around them.

Dating a coworker depends on how valuable your job is to you. If it’s a job that was not easily attained that you very much enjoy and has good pay then I suggest NEVER engaging in any dating or sexual activity with co workers. If just a job that you can easily replace then all bets are off for the right piece of ass.

Thank you addressing this topic. Never have I ever dated a female co-worker throughout my job experiences. Every job I worked from retail to warehouse jobs, Co-workers would spread gossip about either talking about whomever they were sleeping with by accident or someone has a crush on. As for me, I was always aware that it was unwise to date/mate a female coworker because I didn't want my name in the workplace gossip. I was accused of being gay by both male and female coworkers because I didn't engage in trying to date/mate female coworkers at that time which was untrue and hurtful. The reason why they assumed because I wasn't try to holla at a woman while working like the other guys were doing in the workplace, but rather being professional and productive. Some employees really don't understand how professionalism really matters in the workplace because your personality, work ethic, and reputation is on the line rather than trying to hook up. I also want to point out that there's a time and a place for engaging with women in such places like a lounge, parties, festivals, and so on. I stay on the grind until this day and hard work really do pay off. Keep up the great work 👍
@williemherbert1456
@williemherbert1456 Жыл бұрын
Lounge, party, or festivals? With some far-off stranger? Nah, I don't think in any way our environment is wired to allow us having intimate relationship. Those are just great place to have one-time stand for enjoyment, but for stable relationship would be sunk to the gutter. Sure, stranger are easier to cut off when thing goes south, but also harder to actually know each other better. Since both of thedistance and time extend limitation in which resulted in shallow understanding of each other with any clear respect in deeper sense. But I also agree that love in workplace is just plain wrong, heck this even can be applied to love during school day, those are just bad time to do such. Maybe I'm too strict here, but I just think rationally that those conditions are just weird to ever be put out as where you should pursue your mate for life. You can't know certainly how the character of those far-off stranger for you despite only being in try-out dating, since you have hard time to maintain transparency and connectivity between two of you.

My guy this is on point. I've dated two co workers at a previous workplace and both of em blew up in my face. 1st, not only did we see each other every day, we saw each other every weekend too. I got tired and eventually made up a lie to not see her one weekend and when she didn't bite on the lie,it was the beginning of the end. After the break up, man the very next day I got a smack outa nowhere. 2nd time round, we didn't see each other that much on weekends but in short, after we broke up, she dated another dude at work and man I wanted to strangle the guy every time I walked past them being all lovey dovey but I didn't so I learnt the hard way to NEVER DATE MY COWORKER AGAIN

The job that I currently work on, I see this all the time. You tend to get caught up in a lot of “He Say, She Say”. Also, you run the risk of being sent to HR if you say the “wrong thing” to a female & she feels offended by it. And the romantic relationship (or sexual) goes SOUTH between you and that other person, the AWKWARDNESS is extreme!

I used to date a girl at work back in my twenties, it was cool at first then it went bad. We used to go jr. high together where I knew her and she knew me. I applied for a new job at a department store and she was sitting there and called out my full name lol. We were friends at first as always and we lived five blocks away from each other. The was job was a good walk home for the both of us but she take a cab until I said to her let me walk you home, it was a Spring afternoon. We started liking each other more and until I asked her to be my lady and see said yes . We saw each at work, at lunch , after work and days off. She would show up on my block while I was playing basketball, I had no time to be me. After a year and half we broke up over something stupid and from that point I was able to breathe again. I dated someone that work in the business next door and how the companies operated it was if we were coworkers. When we were together things were great however when we broke up (his decision) the hurt began and watching him go about his daily affairs as if I never existed was beyond heartbreaking. I believe when you are truly into someone you do not mind seeing them everyday and if you are creative you can add mystery to your romance. The trouble and hurt begins when things go wrong and you breakup.

I started working at a pizza shop when I was 18 and I was on my second day when a dude walked in looking for his gf and he looked pissed. I said, I think she's in the back hold on. She came out and he started yelling at her about cheating on him. The guy she was cheating on happened to be another co-worker, he comes walking out and a yelling match started. Luckily we had no customers at the time. So these two dudes are face to face and the girl is yelling at both while everyone was yelling at everyone. I'm just standing there like "I'm about to see some shit, alright!!" the bf pulls out a knife and stabs the dude she's been cheating on in the shoulder. The now ex bf takes off running out the door, 911 got called and I'm trying to help this guy so he doesn't bleed to death. It was a wild work day. The ex bf got 8 years in prison and they both got fired but I found out that they got married a few days later, she got pregnant by her ex but told her new husband it was his. She tricked his ass. The other girl who worked there who was friends with the other girl quit 2 weeks later so I didn't get the "Jerry Springer" scoop anymore. I got promoted in two days of work. That's when I decided "Never date or get with or mess around with co-workers" it could lead to bad news.

People spend more time at work than they they do at home or anywhere else. It’s natural to date on your job because those are the people you spend the most time with, but it rarely turns out well. & once you do it you learn your lesson & never want to do it again lol

It's funny I was warned about this when I did it, I was really respected at work and always got my things done. When we started I got distracted just like you said, lol got in trouble at my job for the first time ever. Luckily I only worked at that job for six more months before getting a better job. Plus we never had an argument in that time so I didn't have to deal with that awkward situation. Still together today at a year and a half later so sometimes it works out. So long as you both keep progressing in life.

Next thing you know, if you find me you’ll find her... vice versa too lmao. When we broke up, she was being petty asf tho. Talking to every guy in front of me, trying be loud when I was talking, etc. Got a job in my studies, so I left before things escalated too deep. We just started talking again lol

I know someone that is with two females at the same time in the work place. Meeting one girl in the parking lot while the other girl is upstairs working. They will go back to their desk a couple minutes apart so it Won’t look like they was together, so the other girl or other people can’t catch on to what’s going on.

Learning from experience, I was demoted because of the productivity dropping while dating a colleague Also, there was no qualms about her comparing work problems with relationship issues, while at work. She ended up quitting after my demotion, but the damage was done and though we are still distant friends, I had to learn the hard way...the fact the manager encouraged our relationship and penalized me when it ended really taught me a valuable lesson. I no longer work for that company...

So so true. I made commitment @15 to never date a coworker. Now I'm 32 and just recently dated a coworker, why? She was about 2 xfer to another location and she was pretty much the one to ask me out, also on a dry spell and she was cute and aggressive. Went on one date and she had told me she told another coworker about us who also told others. I warned her that if she tells how great we are other girls will aggressively go after me, now I can control myself but the jealousy she will get will strain the relationship. I experienced this in school and why I never wanted to take it into work. After 2 dates i stopped talking to her. Felt like she had a bf.We were never physical. Had I ignored my intuition I feel like one of us would have gotten hurt. But just reminder why I made that decision 17 years ago, and all the repercussion that can come from a sour relationship at work.

Office gossip is very true… I had a situation once where a coworker stayed the night at mine, and then we went to work together in the same car - Apparently me and her were spotted outside of work by another co-worker. The next day, Two co workers got to work early and waited outside a shop near our workplace JUST to see us in the same car haha was so embarrassing on their behalf.

Reason 1b: Even if it's not against company rules, your supervisor simply might dislike the hassle. Now he or she has to take her into account when the time comes to discipline you - or vice versa. Same goes with promotions. Transfers. Etc. You wanted to be promoted to Reg'l Mgr but that would make you your girlfriend's superior. Or vice versa.

NEVER, REPEAT, NEVER DATE ON THE JOB!! It will be EVERYONE'S relationship. What if there is a breakup or even a quarrel, it will be hellish. What about those outside the relationship gossiping about the two of you? What about HR? The only way to play on the job is if you are passing through as a temporary worker, 3-6 months,so if things go south, you will be leaving soon or can just bounce at will. Never s#/t where you eat.
