Another tip: VINEGAR! Wiping out ur cups immediately after a pour (BEFORE it hardens) is an easier way to clean pour cups instead of all the scraping and scratching. Unfortunately I hate both methods and I use a LOT of cups so I got a gallon of plain vinegar and poured it into a large clean, empty coffee can about 2/3 full. I place it on my supply table by my pour table. After I pour all of my resin (good to the last drop 🙃) I drop my cups into the coffee can with the vinegar and pop the lid back on. When I do clean up, I just wipe my cups out and do a regular wash on them. This has made everything so much easier.

1. PPE 2. Alcohol and/or wipes or paper towels. 3. Warm resin. 4. Level surface. I got one on Amazon and the level in the table I bought didn't equal other level I already had. 5. Mix right. Pay close attention to the instructions on whatever brand you buy. 6. Get a torch or heat gun. These are the things I've learned. I love watching videos like yours because it's important to share experiences for the best results.

Another tip: Don't leave your resin items in a cold or humid place to cure. It will slow down or even interrupt the curing process. I'm working out of my garage making very small pieces, but it rained one week and completely ruined a set I had cast. It never finished curing and made a mess of my molds that was a nightmare to clean. Most resin cure best at room temperature or a little warmer, so remember: if you're cold, they're cold. Bring them inside.

Space heater would be safer then bringing them in the house, unless you have a well ventilated room you can totally lock off so the off gassing fumes don’t impact everyone in your house (pets included) maybe a spare bathroom that has a vent that vents outside, then roll a towel or something and put under the door to slow anything coming through.

Tip 1a - make sure gloves are nitrile. The harmful chemicals will leach through latex. You can layer the less expensive latex over nitrile gloves to make the nitrile gloves last longer by keeping them clean. Then the latex is what gets messy and replaced while the nitrile blocks the toxic chemicals.

Thank you so much for this!!!! I've JUST started resin work at the age of 59!! I'm a total perfectionist and have to ace something first time 🤦🏻‍♀️. My first resin pour was great because I was super careful! Yesterday I was gung ho and didn't prep properly and had EXACTLY one of the issues you mention, namely, didn't have my glitters and confetti's ready and my resin started curing! Oy vey 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️it was terrible.. I managed to save my castings but couldn't finish my projects and wasted a some... Lesson well learnt! Also bought a half mask respirator - big mistake! Got my full face yesterday and WHAT a difference! Well worth the extra money spent! Glad you didn't do permanent damage to your lungs☺️🎉! Cute cat!

😆 lol seems like we are 👯‍♀️ sisters 😅 I’m exactly the same I hate this mess so much that it put me off doing it . I’ve put away doing it at all for last 1,5year and just kept buying more and more ready stuff especially moulds all of them from titchies supplies Uk based girl who just have great cute moulds but also sells ones who are so discounted only because there is a air bubble somewhere not even in the important part or the earring stick didn’t fully form in silicone mould which is not a problem because it’s half way made and you can easily go through cured resin with a special hand or electric drill and it still looks good 😊. They like 2/10 pounds instead 15/20 also she got mystery mould sets to buy for 5 /10/15/20/25 pounds and I tried first 3 versions and for 5 pounds she gave me 4 good quality moulds with earrings and necklace moulds and for the more expensive packs she gives at least one big mould and few smaller ones and medium ones .But yea it’s just the fact with all this mess and then lack of idea of what I should use with certain moulds like which colour of mica I should use which ink glitter and so on I just hate the idea that something would end up looking not that good and me waisting my precious resin which is so expensive 🥹😅🫣 but then again we all need to test to get the idea and understand what we could improve and it wouldn’t be a problem if I would have 100 litres of resin 😂🥲 I’m actually planing to buy much bigger size at least 2/3 litres but everything depends on the price I do think best and safety checked resin is from resin8 website but it costs but they have different ones for different purposes like jewellery so they are clear and deal well with bubbles and for things like all purpose and much more for 100 pounds all purpose you can get around 5 litres if I’m right it might be slightly more ,which is not bad . I currently use Amazon and just get the ones which got good reviews and special price offers as it has quick shipping for when I need it like next day . I only wished it wouldn’t be so messy it takes all my excitement away plus I need to get that resp mask especially having asthma. when I used resin last time and will before getting a mask is the way that I get everything ready first lay out moulds decide on glitter ,mica and so on and when I finally get to the resin mixing part I wear face mask like n95 open window fully and do everything in the shortest time possible to not expose myself to long off course also wearing gloves then I have a plastic bag ready and put everything going to bin in it put in one box everything to be washed and put moulds on the side where they can cure safely and definitely agree with covering them with some cover it’s terrible when you made beautiful piece and you realise there are cat /dog hair and dust especially if it’s for sale because then you can straight away throw it away or keep for yourself 🫣😓no one will pay any money for messed up item especially now in times when everyone wants to be as hygienic and clean just imagine paying 10/30 pounds for pretty piece just to realise you did get extra hair in it 😓🙈🫠😩 Because of this mess and not wanting to deal with it I end up dabbling in Oil and acrylic painting for some time I would love to gain enough experience and knowledge to be able to sell few nice pieces but most importantly doing it in a form of mental/emotional healing letting go of stress and using it to express my feelings as many artists do and funny thing only month ago I found out my dads brother daughter is acrylic painting in a abstract way and sells them at first I was angry 😅🙈thinking like wtf there’s no way she’s better than me you know that jealous family member type of thing and now I’m more like cool we have similar interests and ideas and how nice it is to have someone to talk about painting and possibly one day meeting up to paint together and just chatting although I’m more in the realism /nature/people area I think painting is painting and there are still many similar ways we work and can learn from each other .😅😊

Resin is also toxic to animals so definitely recommend not doing it with them anywhere nearby and never let them in the room if you have a separate resin room. Also resin can offgas for up to 30 days so make sure to let it completely cure before sending it to a friend or family member. Not trying to be scary just trying to save lives and bring attention to these things that people may not know about as I have learned this myself. Gotta keep everyone safe💜

Hi Maggie! Most of the necessities are pretty shelf-stable and won't expire. For the actual resin, as long as it is still sealed and stored in the correct temperature it will last many years! Once it is opened, it usually lasts between 6 months - 1 year depending on the resin! You will just need to make sure it stays stored in the proper temperatures :)

I learned quickly to get a respirator. I started getting really bad headaches & a chest cough the first week. I wasn't in a well venelated area & was so excited about starting I used the resin daily. So I got the 3m 2097 100 mask, huge difference. Great tips ! A few I didn't know. New subscriber here.

Thanks for video!! Just getting started with resin so this is extremely helpful.. ( side note.. Anyone told you u have lyran lineage? Check out a video for signs your a starseed from Lyra.. I bet u have alot.. ) some signs are.. Old soul.. Creative.. Independent.. Loves night sky and new adventure.. Fearless in pursuit of dreams.. It was so funny because i was feeling lyran energy from you from the very start of the video.. This is the first one ive ever seen of yours... And just as im thinking it the cat jumps up lol.. Lyrans love cats and very much resonate with their energy... Your cat may have even had lifetimes with u on lyra.. It feels like a strong connection between the two of you... So funny when u told cat to say hi to everyone they were like.. Uhh people do i have to?? 🤣 i know this may all sound a lil odd especially if you have no prior knowledge on the subjects but im pretty good at reading energy and also read tarot cards and do readings for people and have never been told that it wasnt accurate information... I used to just keep it to myself worried about what people would say or how they would react but i no longer do and find that when i feel something its always beneficial for that person to receive the message.. Even if not understood today it still plants a seed that may bloom later.. 🌷🙏❤😊

Love your commitment to wearing a respirator and I agree. However I have heard from more than one source that it's not recommended to use alcohol to get resin off your skin as it increases absorbtion into the skin. Some have great success with baby wipes and baby shampoo and water. Thanks for sharing and love your cat. Gorgeous x

Hi, so I have been thinking about starting a little resin business to bring in a little extra money before I go off to college next year, but I still have a lot of research to do and this video really helped, but I do have a few questions. So with your first tip was to wear a respirator. I was wondering if I were to mix and pour on a table outside, where the fumes are out in the great out doors, would I still need one? I would probably wear a thick mask anyway (seems how we all have them from COVID) but then to follow that up, if I pour outside and then bring them inside to cure, would that still be toxic indoors while setting? I don’t want to create a harmful space for the rest of my family and my dogs, and right now I can’t let the molds cure outside because it’s winter now. And then secondly, is it mandatory to use a heat gun for the pieces? Does it only get rid of bubbles, or is it supposed to help cure the pieces? I really don’t want to spend the money on the bigger items if I don’t have to, but if the gun is needed for the resin, then I guess it’s needed. I’m really sorry with all the questions but I’m just trying to get as much info as possible. Thank you!!

HI. So i recently started my own business and I found that you don't need a heat gun but it helps with bubbles. I also find that it dries a bit faster. I would definitely were that respirator/ mask and work in a highly ventilated space. When you bring them inside I recommend turning on a fan and cracking a window. Also never be sorry for asking questions!

Hi there! Don't be sorry for the questions! I'm just sorry I took so long to reply! Getting a respirator is 100% necessary, but a heat gun is something that is optional, but helps immensely. The masks that we use for Covid *may* be better than nothing, but over time mixing resin with no respirator on is very likely to give you a reaction! From my understanding, the majority of fumes are given off during the mixing process, but it's important to cure your pieces in a closed off area where your animals will not have access because the resin can be toxic to them if they accidentally step on a piece and lick it off their foot, etc. !

Cute furbaby 😘🐈😍 Thank you so much for making this video - it is very helpful 👍 I am totally new to using resin and I have some questions: 1. I don't have a fancy ventilation system, so how about sitting next to an open window? Maybe even put a fan behind me so it can kind of blow the fumes away from me... Would that be a good idea? 2. I don't have any of that colorful powder to color the resin with, can I use acrylic paint instead (and if so, how much)? 3. When to add the color to the resin? Already when mixing the 2 parts together or? 4. I have seen people making cool pendants with different layers in them. They wait for one layer to kind of dry before adding the next layer and so on. How to prevent the not yet used resin from drying, while waiting to add the different layers? And how to know when the resin is ready for the next layer? 5. About the molds - Is there something that you can spray the molds with to ensure the finished pieces won’t stick to the molds? How to clean molds after use? Wash in hot soapy water every time they have been used, or? Could you store the molds in Tupperware containers or would plastic bags be a better idea? Sorry for all of my stupid questions 🙇😳
