I see the Gone Girl mistake as Perry’s fault. Most actors research a role. It wouldn’t take that much to find out that Gone Girl was based on the book.

Mmm yes and no. Once they sign on and get the script and information about the character yes. Or if they’re looking into roles themselves. But sometimes their agent does the presearch for them and gets them roles and informs them about the role. So it depends 🤷🏾♀️. In Tyler Perry’s case he also directs and does many other projects so he likely trusted the agent to get a role fitting

I admit his laugh needed work but otherwise it's very evident that it was the script of Suicide Squad and not Leto himself that fumbled the ball.

I get that he likes to uphold a certain persona for his core audience. He probably took the role sight unseen to get another "legit" acting credit on his filmography. Or so his agents hoped... Also, he's known to be a hack who doesn't pay his underlings a decent wage. He's known to be a control freak on his own projects. Can you see him bumping heads with a renowned filmmakers with his "infamous" ego?! All speculation on my part...

I went to go see " Stop or my mom will shoot "in 1992 when it came out, against my bettter judgement ( just the title, and the ridiculous movie poster put me off, enough to not want to see the movie ) ...but a cute young lass wrangled me into a Friday night date with her to go see it, in a small theater in Whitefish, Montana, on it's opening weekend ...well, five minutes into the movie I knew it would be unwatchable, so I just spent the remaining 82 minutes of the movie, making out non-stop with the girl that just had to see this Silvester Stalone belly flop of a movie.... so, really...I didn't see the movie. Ha !
