@@manson9083 kinda agree kinda dont. Learning scales is just another skill anyone can learn. What you make of that learned skill is where your definition of talent is at. But i consider fast learning a talent in it's own self and Jared has many facets besides guitar playing. He's a creative in his own right.

Well, now you know. Sometimes it helps knowing how to play different scales first before knowing they are actual scales, and then learning what they actually are than learning on paper first and then on the guitar. You already have the first part down, now you can find out what is it you were doing all this time!

Let's take the romanian scale for an example here. We have A B C D# E F# G as the notes of the scale right below the notes you see the formula, each note of a scale has a scale degree. The first and last note are called the tonic unless the 7th note is a step down in which it is called a leading tone. The 2nd is called supertonic. The 3rd is called mediant. 4th is called subdominant. 5th is dominant. 6th is called submediant. From here we can go down to that fretboard you see in the video beneath the scale and formula. So then play the notes as follow by figuring out where the A note is on your fretboard then playing a step up as B which is two frets up as shown, then c which is right next to B since we have no b#. The 1 and 2 and other numbers on that image are not expressing the frets but the scale degrees.

I'm romanian and I wasn't aware of the Romanian scale what the heck. Btw, favorite scale is Japanese scale, by omiting the 3rd it sounds neither major nor minor, it gives an ambiguous feel.

Man those Arabic, Persian, Jewish and Byzantine scales are my favorite. A few bands I like that use some of these are Melechesh, Arkan (I only like the Halal and Salam albums but they are top 10 metal albums of mine), Orphaned Land (The never ending way of ORwarriOR and Mabool are my favorites), Nile, Amaseffer, Myrath (first three albums are their best, not a huge fan of their last).

I just know the Pentatonic scale, I built and add notes from there on. I use the Pentatonic scale as like a trunk of a tree where I add notes like it's branches.

Minor pentatonic and the blues scales are always my go to when I'm jamming and can't really think of what to play. I used to play a kind of Egyptian scale I learned from playing stuff off of maidens powerslave.
