it's not harder, it's just a question of being used to stand up or not. Even standing up, Charles prefer having his strap short like in a sitting position while most of punk bassists like danny rather having their basses eating the ground.

@@Tangosetentaycinco like I said, if you're used to that, it's way easier but if you learned upright, you would be better in that position. I mostly practice bass sitting down so it's harder for me playing upright too. If you want to play upright, you can try to tighten your strap, so your hands will have the same position as when you're sitting. but playing upright is backbreaking anyway, so dont do that.

Playing an instrument is such a physical task, I just get into it more if I can move with the groove. I play classical guitar sitting because it's a way to relax and experiment with notes and technique. But bass excites me, I can't just sit and play. But then again, I'm also one of those thudfucks who plays with the bass eating dirt. When I was starting out, I used to hang it from a chain because I couldn't find a strap long enough.
