A reoccurring dream that felt so real and scary. I'd wake up with my chest pounding and dreaded going asleep the next night incase I dreamt it again. Bizarre when I look back now.

When I was a kid, I lived in an old house with a basement like this. One of my sisters and I were playing catch in the hallway (something we weren't supposed to do 😅) and the ball accidentally went through the open basement door. As my sister was the one who threw it, per the rules of the game, she had to go get it. Only a couple minutes later, she came tearing back up into the hallway, screaming in terror. She said a boy in a baseball cap had been tossing the ball up and down when she started down, but then he threw it at her. I'd heard the thunk against the wall, but when I went down to investigate for myself, I didn't see anything that might've even resembled a person, let alone with the capability to throw that ball with such force. My other sister said she'd seen the boy too, but in different circumstances. According to her, he'd fallen down the basement stairs and, so badly injured that his family didn't dare move him, he died down there. Mind you, the entire place was thoroughly haunted. I've loads of stories about it. Every room on all four floors (basement included) has a history. It was over 200 years old when we lived there, a historical landmark even, and that was 25 years ago. I still think it's the most fascinating house I've ever lived in. Ps: Oh, and to this day, I swear our front step was actually a grave. We measured it. Six feet long and just high enough for an old coffin. Complete with a marker. No, not suspicious at all...

If a person keeps old books in a basement, that basement had better be well sealed and, preferably, climate controlled. Otherwise, you'll end up ruining the books with potential moisture and mold. That loud sound from the basement that was supposed to be a demon is more like someone recorded an elephant and combined that with a chimpanzee and severely exaggerated it.
